• Vermont Superdelegates: Let voters decide!
To allow "super-delegates" to vote AGAINST our vote is to disenfranchise hundreds of thousands of voters. "Super-delegates" put their interests and personal relationships above the needs of the citizenry. It is an indefensible corruption of the democratic voting process. There should not be "super-delegates" in place to protect those already entrenched in power in the first place, that is how oligarchy and corruption is perpetuated. But the least they can do is vote with the people until this corruption can be fixed through policy reform.

  • California Superdelegates: Follow the Voters!
The popular vote, not established party machine politics, should decide who the California Democratic Party endorses for President in the California Primary! Superdelegates, pledge to follow the voters and endorse the candidate who wins the popular vote in the primary. Christine Pelosi has made this pledge; please follow her example. Thanks for upholding the democratic ideals embodied by voting.

The students of Eastern Middle School have been crippled with this new problem in the water fountain. Two of the most important water fountains in the school no longer are effective. These are the most commonly used water fountains in the entire school.

  • Petition to have Hillary Clinton & Bernie Sanders on ONE DEMOCRATIC TICKET!
It is my wish to see both Democratic candidates join on one ticket, regardless of who wins the primary election. Both candidates are strong, both hold very similar, if not identical views on various topics, and both candidates on the same ticket can WIN the presidential election! The following is a copy of a letter that was sent to the campaign offices of both candidates: Let me begin by saying that I have had a difficult time composing this letter because of its importance. It is very possible that I may provide too much information or not enough. I realize that this letter, similar to the phone call that I previously made to your campaign office, could fall on deaf ears or may not be brought to your attention. Due to the importance of the subject, I must take the necessary steps to ensure you have the opportunity to review and consider my suggestion. Those steps include: A. Contacting your campaign office via telephone B. Writing you C. Submitting copies of said letter to the media in hopes that they may ask for a response from you. After following both you and your opponent’s political campaign and extensively reviewing each of your platforms, I would truly like to see a democratic ticket that reflects the political expertise, the strength of character, and the ambitions of both Democratic running candidates. In other words, each of you should consider the other for a Vice Presidential running mate, depending on who wins in the primary election. To accept the premise that the needs and concerns of the American people come before any other consideration, political or self-serving, that via compromise and cooperation, it is possible to combine both platforms to bring about solutions to many of our social ills. It is my hope that the Democrats reach a higher plane and stop the bashing of each other in their attempts to prove to the people that they are best suited for the job. The American people deserve more than individuals with a single-minded approach to what we face as a nation. Let history show that the Democrats were first to say this election wasn’t Sanders or Clinton- it is Sanders AND Clinton and the people will decide who will be their nominee for President. I look forward to the possibility to discussing the pros and cons of what I have propose with you and your staff. Sincerely, Reginald Daniels It is my hope to get enough people to sign this petition who have the same breadth of vision and believe that both candidates can effect change in this country if they join forces and work together, rather than working against each other and essentially, against the best interest of the American people.

  • I Pledge Tax Refund $ to Fund a Political Revolution…
Bernie Sanders has called upon Americans to come together and join a Political Revolution. This call is now giving focus to a mass movement that opposes crony capitalism and the legalized corruption of our current broken political system. While working to elect Bernie, let’s also work to clean House (and Senate!). House Democrats, at their lowest numbers since 1947, will need 30 seats to regain a majority. Let us, to the extent we are able, pledge both time and money to elect a slate of candidates who will be reliable allies for President Sander’s agenda. Right now, there are candidates around the country who support the key items in the Sander’s agenda, they need and deserve our help, support, and enthusiasm!

  • Please consider the public image of the Assistant Chief position.
To be true to the HPD motto "serve and protect with aloha" HPD senior management is subject to a very high standard, both personally and professionally. Please reconsider promoting anyone with a history of domestic abuse to the Assistant Chief position. Individuals with prior convictions of domestic abuse will damage the reputation and public image HPD works very hard to earn and maintain. We urge you to reconsider the proposed candidate for Assistant Chief, and consider what is truly best for the reputation of HPD and the public it serves.

  • Tell the Senate: Fulfill your constitutional duty. Work to fill the Supreme Court vacancy.
Just hours after news broke that Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia had passed away, Mitch McConnell was already trying to exploit the unfortunate news for political gain. Senate Majority Leader McConnell rushed out a radical claim: That the Senate should shirk its constitutional duty to consider and confirm Supreme Court nominees, simply because it’s an election year. That’s not how it worked when Ronald Reagan nominated Anthony Kennedy to the Supreme Court in an election year (1988) and the Democratic Senate confirmed him. The U.S. Constitution specifically states that the Senate should give “advice and consent” on Supreme Court nominations by the president. The Constitution has no exception for election years. It’s clear that McConnell is looking for any excuse to block President Obama from naming another justice to the Supreme Court. Mitch McConnell knows what we all know. The future of reproductive rights, overturning Citizens United, labor rights, and Obama’s Clean Power Plan all hang in the balance. Tell the Senate: Fulfill your constitutional duty. Work with President Obama to fill the vacancy at the Supreme Court without delay.

  • Demand Obama use a litmus test for Supreme Court nominees
Whomever President Obama appoints to take Justice Antonin Scalia's seat on the Supreme Court will have an impact on millions of lives, as did Scalia. The importance of assuring victory in legal challenges to the rulings that have threatened the very core of democracy must be prioritized. We demand that President Obama commit to using a litmus test and to only appointing a Supreme Court Justice that will stand against Citizens United and for restoration of the Voting Rights Act! Here is an even bigger petition (Democracy For America): http://act.democracyforamerica.com/sign/progressivejustice?akid=s289225..8qQjdg

  • Revoke Catholic Church's Tax Exemption
Any organization that consistently ignores the rules of law and abuses it's position within our communities must be held accountable for it's actions. The child abuse scandal is a systemic and pervasive culture within the Catholic Church. It refused to comply with the independent 2014 UN investigative committee's recommendations. “The Committee is gravely concerned that the Holy See has not acknowledged the extent of the crimes committed, has not taken the necessary measures to address cases of child sexual abuse and to protect children, and has adopted policies and practices which have led to the continuation of the abuse by and the impunity of the perpetrators...”. The Catholic Church leadership has a culture of aiding and abetting child molesters; all while enjoying the benefits of its tax exempt status. ‪#‎TaxDay‬ 2014 UN Report URL: http://tbinternet.ohchr.org/Treaties/CRC/Shared%20Documents/VAT/CRC_C_VAT_CO_2_16302_E.pdf

  • Congress: Go See the New Michael Moore Movie
Michael Moore's new movie, "Where to Invade Next," [1] challenges a dominant idea that's been a key obstacle to reforming the U.S. government and U.S. politics: the idea that the U.S. can't learn from other countries. [2] A popular movie can change the national political discourse. If Members of Congress see the new Michael Moore movie and get comfortable talking about the idea that we can learn from other countries, new opportunities may arise for reforming U.S. domestic and foreign policy. Urge Members of Congress to go see the new Michael Moore movie by signing our petition.
