• Keep St Louis Cemetery #1 Open To The Public
The purpose of the petition is to keep the beautiful St. Louis Cemetery #1 open to the public and possibly offer solutions to the vandalism issue. Just so we're all on the same page. As a comment stated elsewhere, " It is private property, and they could close it off completely and only allow family to visit. They own it, they can do what they want." Also, families on the books won't have to pay to tend to their loved ones; they do however have to register to do so. If families aren't on the books due to errors, Katrina, etc, I'm sure the diocese will look at it on a case by case basis. Again, not ideal for the wife that, on a whim, wishes to see her husband. But that's the red tape. The tour companies, bless them, are equally as taxed I'm sure. Paying extra fees to continue their livelihood. They have nothing to do with this other than being forced to pay to show. Truth, this isn't about anger. It's about compromise and common ground. We want to give the Archbishop working knowledge of people's thoughts and ideas, whether it be money, security, upkeep, or anything else. I do completely understand why they want to do this. But I think there are many other ways of dealing with it, fury and ire not being one of them; but constructive discourse, caring, understanding, and love. I don't claim to know all the answers. I don't. That's why I'm here. EDIT: Local article explaining the In's and Out's. http://www.nola.com/homegarden/index.ssf/2015/01/because_of_vandalism_only_tour.html#incart_river EDIT 2: For those wanting to contact the Archbishop now in regards to keeping St Louis Cemetery accessible. As always keep it civil and polite. To mail a letter, direct it to Gregory Michael AyMond, the Archbishop, 7887 Walmsley Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70125. Or send an email here: https://www.arch-no.org/contact Points to stress: - This policy will not protect the cemetery from vandalism that occurs after hours - This policy will restrict access to local residents who cannot afford to pay a tour guide when they want to visit the cemetery, whose rich history belongs to all residents - The proposed rates charged to tourist companies are exorbitant and will require them to bring in large groups of 25+ people just to break even. Large groups are more difficult to control - The policy is difficult to enforce - Better solutions include a security system (alarms), cameras, and a guard posted during opening hours

  • Restoring parental rights of parents
I'm starting a petition because me and my husband's parental rights were terminated to our children in 2007 after we both completed a parental agreement. I feel that our rights as parents should be restored after we finished a parental agreement and learned from it. Stopping parental rights from being terminated after parents comply should be intact, which does affect me and my husband very much. Please sign my petition if you agree that a parent or parents rights should not be terminated after complying with a parental agreement from their state.

  • Keep Tufts Email Forwarding Active After Graduation
I am an MD-PhD student in my 8th and final year at Tufts, and have created this petition on behalf of myself and other graduating Tufts medical and graduate students. We have all made many professional contacts during our time at Tufts, in addition to listing our Tufts emails as contact information in published works and professional forums. By blocking all email that comes to our Tufts accounts starting 90 days after graduation, Tufts will negatively affect our careers as future Tufts graduates. Lifetime email forwarding is provided by many institutions to their graduates, but Tufts is not among them, and this leaves us at a disadvantage. Please sign if you support having Tufts forward our email indefinitely after we graduate, so that we don't risk losing valuable connections. Thank you. -Sam Stampfer

  • Save Burial Hill's Trees
Burial Hill will be adversely affected with the needless removal of these trees. Burial Hill is one of the country's earliest burial grounds and is part of the original area settled by the Pilgrims. It is of historic, artistic, and cultural importance. We must be stewards to its preservation. If we stand silent we are party to its desecration.

  • Hate Page OK with Facebook
My son is autistic and if he were to come across the community it would be devastating. They have enough issues that they do not have to see the crap that is being put out on this page https://www.facebook.com/autisticfreaks. It states it is religious group of moms, not so it is just a piece of crap that needs to be removed! Facebooks answer is that it is not violating the community standards, really hum hate statements are not a violation? Really Facebook you also state some of the porn stuff I have reported is not in violation. Get you s*** together and start taking our reports seriously. You shut down business pages because someone likes too many pages or other things like that but you think the hate being spewed or the porn being uploaded is okay? Really Facebook do something about this and NOW!

  • Corporal Chester Nez Day January 23rd
Our United States of America Marine Corps Navajo Code Talkers' last survivor was Chester Nez who died in 2014 at age 93. A book has been compiled of his life and the only one written by a Navajo Code Talker and a co-author. His contributions to the attack on Iwo Jima and the Pacific strikes by the Japanese military were monumental to the success and end of World War II. If he ever revealed information about the code, he was under the threat of his tongue being cut out, or death. He was never able to reveal to his family nor anyone else his mission. Corporal U.S.M.C. Chester Nez the recipient of numerous medals of honor, and deserves to represent his 28 other comrades in a yearly tribute so the USA will never forget the secret missions of the United State Marine Corps through the code of the Navajo Native Language, a code the Japanese could not decipher. Corporal USMC medal of honor recipient Nez died in 2014 at the age of 93. I am also proposing that a United States Postal Stamp be made to commemorate his life.

  • Morris County Freeholders Considering Resolution to Ban Churches from Receiving Historic Preserva...
For several years, our church, The First Reformed Church of Pompton Plains, has received Morris County Historic Preservation Grant Funds with the intention of restoring three of our historically registered buildings to their original and historic quality. The grant pays 80% of the cost of the work. The church funds 20%. We are grateful for what has been given to us so far, but there is much work to do. Last year, work on the Sanctuary was only partially funded and we were hoping to apply for more funds to finish that job. This year, we are also hoping to start the process for the work needed on our 1788 Stone House, Friendly Manse. The Stone House historically served as a Town Tavern, a Post Office, a stop on the Underground Railroad, a hospital, and now a residence. The church clearly sees its historical value. It would be shame to not restore its historical nature. But, if the resolution passes, historical preservation funds to churches will end, which could eventually lead to all funding for historic preservation going away. We are concerned for the ramifications in Morris County, but also statewide.

  • Make a /kr/ board
This petition is for a startup of a korean culture board. This would benefit /mu/ users who absolutely hate /kpg/ due to the amount of non music related posts in threads and the fact that they feel like we bring no real value to their board. This too would be great for /kpg/ members where we wouldn't be forced to talk about just kpop. We would be able to discuss idols in general without being off topic as well as shows and dramas, movies, locations, food, and many other korean related things. We have a large community of over 150 people (this is evident due to a video being posted 18 hours ago and getting 225 views for just the /mu/ community) and despite not wanting to it would merge the /hr/ and /mu/ kpop community. Not only would we have a place to discuss the interest many of us have spent countless hours and had emotional investment in. The major problem that affects our community as it is now is the fact that people cannot express and talk about the topics we enjoy such as male kpop, shows etc. Without being ridiculed and banned. Is it so wrong that we can not have our own culture board when the very website we frequent was created in a love for Japanese culture? Thank you for your time and we really hope that you will consider this proposal

  • PGV Drilling Violates County Law
In 2012 the drilling of Puna Geothermal Venture well KS-15 caused continual disturbances of nearby residents. An outpouring of complaints about noise, light, vibration, dust, fear of toxic exposure, etc., led the County Council to enact the night drilling ban. Now PGV wants to resume drilling and ignore the law. See http://bit.ly/1L5rV9g
