I would like to propose a reduction of the speed limit on the streets surrounding North Main Street in the Village of Monroe. This is a residential area and should not be grim thoroughfare for fast-moving cars and large industrial vehicles. Last year on Halloween a child was hit by a car right near North Main Elementary school. Most of the residents of the area surrounding the school would like to live on a quiet safe street where children can play outside and walk to school safely. The area has significant pedestrian traffic and a large number of students who walk to school. For many of our neighbors walking is the primary mode of transportation. At 20 mph, drivers make eye contact with the people in the street they are passing through. At speeds over 30 mph, drivers disassociate from the area they are passing through – treating it principally as a traffic thoroughfare for getting quickly from A to B, rather than a neighborhood where children are playing. A reduction of the speed limit may result in a decrease of the inappropriate road use. We have large numbers of trucks using our street as a thoroughfare. I have counted up to 25 in an hour. This is hard on our roads and effects the tenor of the community. The North Main is a residential area not an industrial zone.

We want to improve our community and attract more upscale businesses and shoppers to our area. We want to once again put more positive focus on our Wonderful and Diverse community. The quick cash type businesses prey upon the less fortunate and makes it difficult to attract the more upscale business industry we crave for our area.

Residents on Broadway will loose their ability to park anywhere near their homes as a result of the proposed elimination of available spaces as well as the continued misuse of potential spaces by Dobbs Ferry Automotive used car sales. We propose resident stickers as a possible option or a reexamination of proposed space elimination and increased policing of misuse.

We commuter students pay hundreds of dollars for a parking permit just to drive to a campus with inadequate parking, causing many to be late to class and unnecessary stress. There are not enough parking spaces to serve the majority of the commuter students, even though UT's transportation department reels in millions of dollars a year from parking passes alone. This petition is to raise awareness to the chancellor and other UT administration about the dire need to create more parking for commuter students.

But questions remain: Why wasn't he fired by Centerplate? Why did organizations that use Centerplate's services like the Tampa Bay Rays not show more outrage over this animal abuse? At last count, there were only 83 wild Mexican gray wolves, or lobos, in the U.S. and they need your help. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) recently proposed changes to the rule governing the reintroduction program for the critically endangered Mexican wolf. While provisions to increase the area where new wolves can be released and can roam are important, other proposed changes, such as allowing more killing of these endangered wolves and limiting protections, contradict what scientists say is necessary for the wolves’ recovery. Many businesses are subject of "shakedown" lawsuits by attorneys and plaintiffs who have no real interest in the ADA, but are focused on the easy targets of small, mom and pop businesses who are shaken down to pay or face the threats of litigation.

Please help stop corporate discrimination against Farsi, Persian, and Iranian-Americans. There are close to 2 million Iranian-Americans in the United States with strong economic status ranging from major business owners, surgeons, dentists, professors, entertainers, and many serving in local governments. Their financial status enables them to support all Apple products. It is strange that the Apple keyboard amongst many languages offers Czech, Croatian, Estonian, Hawaiian, Latvian, Macedonian, Slovak, Tamil, and Tibetan, but intentionally refuses Farsi or Persian. This is either a political statement or an act of prejudice against over 100 million Farsi speaking people in the world and two million Persian-Americans. As Persian-Americans we would like to receive acknowledgment of our language, Farsi/Persian, and our heritage country, Iran, on the Apple keyboard list of languages and countries. We ask CEO Cook to help implement this request in appreciation for the support we have provided to Apple.

I am starting this petition because this practice is appalling. Imagine chopping the leg off a farm animal and throwing it back out in the field to suffer and die of blood loss or infection.
