• Luigi Del Bianco Recognition as Chief Carver on Mount Rushmore
Luigi Del Bianco lived the American Dream by coming to America and becoming the Chief Carver on Mount Rushmore. Luigi's job was in carving the "refinement of expression" in the faces. When you look at those 4 presidents, you are looking at the talent of a very gifted artist. This humble immigrant also is my grandfather. Even though our family has documentation that proves his value to the work, the National Park Service refuses to formally recognize his important title and great achievement. This is patently wrong on so many levels. Let's get the NPS to do the right thing!

  • WE DEMAND THAT FIU REHIRE DR. SYLVAN JOLIBOIS
The firing of Dr. Jolibois because of his strong advocacy in behalf of the Haitian people set's a very dangerous precedent that will have a chilling effect on academic freedom and employees rights on campus. FIU should be an institution that promotes the highest standards in ethics and discrimination because of ones views or ethnic origins should not be tolerated. It is urgent that the University take action today and rehire Dr. Jolibois be rehired immediately.

  • Let Norwegian Airlines In! Free Trade OPEN SKYS
Hello Senator Franken, I would like to have your help in finding a way to let Norwegian Airlines offer great rates in the U.S. Market. Congress is trying to block them as it would have a huge impact on airfare to/from Europe. Currently airfare is averaging between $1200 - $1600 round trip from MSP to most EU cities. When Norwegian Airlines are allowed in, the rates would be cut in half. Back down to the more reasonable rates of $600 - $800 round trip as they were just a few years ago. https://www.norwegian.com/us I know this would have a huge impact on the federal taxes that are collected for each ticket. As it stands now for an average ticket of $1300 nearly 50% of that ticket cost is TAXES. So this is why it will be so difficult to fight.. All the people of the USA deserve the chance to fly off to Europe. Not just the select few who can afford it. My college age children would love to go, but at $1300 - $1500 for just airfare it makes it nearly impossible. Please see what can be done! Thank you Sue Thompson Steenhoven 952-448-7716

  • Campgrounds and Child Molesters
Two young girls were molested for most of their childhood which started at a campground. Once this man was out of prison, he was able to come right back to the campground. He stayed 9 days and never registered and by law he was supposed to if his stay was longer then 7 days. Molesters love power, control and destruction. They get their kicks in pushing boundaries. I too remember as a child of a man who befriended all the children only to molest. Campgrounds should be a safe family place. Child sex offender awareness needs to spread. We need to educate and protect from these offenders. 1 in every 4 girls and 1 in every 6 boys are molested by the age of 18. Not all offenders are strangers.

  • Save The Spaces!
My dad had a hip replacement about 8 months ago, and I am a Freshman at FSU. I have personally parked in these disabled parking spaces before and helped my dad to the stadium. By taking away these parking spaces, my dad will have to walk an unnecessary distance. By moving these spaces, FSU is making the lives of people with disabilities that much harder.

  • "History Channel: Save the Bear"
We need to stop the cruel way of taking of a life of a Bear. This barbaric practice needs to stop and there is no need for it to be seen on TV or to promote the killing of bears or any other form of life. This is not acceptable behavior to be seen on neither the History Channel nor any other television show.

  • Tell Chris Christie to Schedule and Attend a Public Town Hall Forum in Newark!
Chris Christie has held over 120 public town hall events in cities across New Jersey. He has travelled the country stumping for the Republican Governor’s Association and promoting his own presidential aspirations. Unfortunately, he has avoided holding a Town Hall forum in his home town of Newark, the largest city in New Jersey and a city whose residents are struggling with urgent social and economic issues. Consider the following facts: ***Chris Christie re-appointed Cami Anderson as the superintendent of Newark Public Schools despite the broad and deep opposition to her leadership. Both the Newark Board of Education and the Newark City Council have passed votes of no confidence in Cami’s leadership. ***Chris Christie has refused to follow the state mandated funding formula for public schools, denying millions of dollars to educating Newark’s next generation. ***Chris Christie diverted funds meant for Sandy victims who live in the Ironbound neighborhood of Newark to his political supporters. To this day, families continue to struggle with the aftermath of the storm. ***Chris Christie diverted $75 million in bank settlement money meant for struggling homeowners to fund a tax break for the wealthiest New Jerseyans, leaving many Newark families in danger of losing their homes to foreclosure. All of these important decisions have been made without a meaningful process for local decision-making and participation by Newark’s residents. Yet, Chris Christie’s physical presence in Newark has been non-existent – at least to the general public’s knowledge. Join us and demand that Chris Christie schedules and attends a well-publicized Town Hall event in Newark to discuss the urgent issues that plague our city!

  • John Perez: Stop Your Recount Now
Two years ago Betty Yee decided to run for Controller. The seat would be open and, for Betty Yee, who is a recognized and well-respected expert in budget, taxation and fiscal policy, the job was a perfect fit. The campaign was going very well. Everyone was happy. (See www.bettyyee.com) Then, almost a year later, John Perez, termed out and looking for a place to land, decided that HE wanted to run for Controller! With Betty’s STRONG GRASSROOTS SUPPORT this proved to be no easy task. For years Betty has not only been a leader in her fields of budget, finance and tax policy – she had also been a leader on important issues including enacting state tax equity for same sex couples, expanding open space preservation with tax relief, updating state tax rules to promote a green economy and offering free resources to small businesses. Because there were two Democrats splitting the vote, the Republican won first place with Betty Yee coming in second ahead of Perez who is in third place. The election was certified. As the WINNING DEMOCRAT, Betty Yee was endorsed by the Democratic Party. BUT then Perez called for a recount of THE PRECINCTS IN WHICH HE THOUGHT HE MIGHT FIND SOME VOTES. A Democrat challenging a fellow Democrat – not good for Democratic Party! First he entered into a race in which a much loved, highly qualified and progressive Democrat was already running AND when he lost he demanded a recount. JOHN PEREZ – STOP THE RECOUNT NOW AND CONCEDE. SUPPORT DEMOCRATIC UNITY.
