• MyPillow Guy & Costco
With Michael Lindell, the CEO of MyPillow, showing up at the White House in January with written notes to give to Donald Trump that were instructions to overturn the election by way of martial law. I no longer think a great company like Costco should allow MyPillow a place to set up and sell their products. MyPillow should be banned from ALL Costco facilities, as Mr Lindell has engaged in treasonous behavior.

  • School Officials: Investigate Illegal Impersonation
On November 5, 2020 alert civic watchdogs discovered that a person had been using LAUSD Superintendent Beutner’s name and photo. The impostor retweeted social-networking messages from an organization known as Speak Up supporting school board candidates. As “Austin Beutner,” she retweeted support for two candidates running for school board in the November 3, 2020 election. However, when her fraud was revealed, she claimed it was a prank aimed at a friend, but there is no evidence in her online behavior of an innocent mistake. The impostor volunteers with Speak Up, an organization created to promote California Charter School Association-backed candidates for LAUSD school board. On November 6, Superintendent Beutner released a statement that he had been impersonated and that he had not issued any tweets of support for the two candidates, Marilyn Koziatek or Tanya Ortiz Franklin. LAUSD has not yet indicated that they are investigating the matter. Nor has LAUSD indicated that they have asked the L.A. County Registrar Clerk Recorder to investigate the fake account, how the impersonation violated state law, and if it influenced the school board elections. Impersonating a public official appears to violate state penal code (in law for a decade, since enactment of SB 1411 in 2010) protecting Californians against impersonation on the internet. The Superintendent and the LAUSD Counsel are obligated to investigate and verify if SB 1411 has been violated. A person is deemed impersonated "if another person would reasonably believe, or did reasonably believe, that the defendant was or is the person who was impersonated." Impersonation under the law "shall include opening an email account or an account or profile on a social networking Internet Web site in another person's name." The penalties for this illegal impersonation can include "a fine [of] ...one thousand dollars ($1,000), or... imprisonment in a county jail not exceeding one year." CALL TO ACTION We the undersigned urge the following: -- Superintendent Beutner and the LAUSD Counsel should investigate violations involving false representation, fraud, and breaches of public trust stemming from this illegal act of impersonation -- Superintendent Beutner and the LAUSD Counsel should probe any further communication or coordination of the impostor with other LAUSD officials and school district decision makers to assess further impacts such communication or coordination might have had, or continue to have, on district policy or decisions

  • PISCATAQUIS COUNTY COMMISSIONERS: Do Not Sign Resolution of Protest
Piscataquis is one of the poorest counties in the state. Our leadership needs to represent us in a manner which will encourage businesses to choose this area, and tempt young people from this area to stay. Creating a resolution that embarrasses us to the rest of the state and larger world outside will not accomplish this task. Further, Foxcroft Academy, located in Dover-Foxcroft, has been fostering a considerable boarding program for international students for many years, with students from all over the world. These students contribute a great deal to the local economy during the school year, and, equally important, provide cultural diversity which is vital for our county. Having a public resolution using xenophobic language is a direct detriment to this program, and our community's goal of embracing diversity into our region. In short, this merely symbolic “resolution of protest” gains nothing, and only serves to present Piscataquis County in an unflattering, embarrassing light. For the Commissioners to sign off would solidify their complete lack of competence in their job while misrepresenting Piscataquis County at large.

  • No more white supremacist cops - no matter what the police unions say. Demand action now.
Those who attacked the Capitol, democracy, and the rule of law—resulting in at least 5 deaths — had help and even encouragement from some members of law enforcement. Intelligence experts have warned for years about a major, growing problem with white supremacists and other far-right extremists in law enforcement. But police unions have fought and undermined attempts to investigate the problem and fire violent, racist, anti-government, and white supremacist extremists. Several prominent police union leaders have associated with white supremacists, and police unions often perpetuate a culture of violence and impunity. They do everything possible to shield officers from accountability, including officers who are compromised by bias, racism, and connections to white supremacists groups. Police unions have successfully defended officers who used racial slurs, who made posts calling for racist violence, and who have white supremacist tattoos. They have kept these officers in their jobs, on the streets with a badge and gun, and in a position to carry out violence against groups they hate (or to simply fail to protect them). This must change. The consequences of failing to address white supremacist infiltration of the police are clearer than ever. It puts all of us in danger and threatens the basic functioning of our government and democracy. Join us in calling on law enforcement leaders—police chiefs, sheriffs, and others—to root out white supremacists and extremists in the agencies they lead, and directly confront any attempts by police unions to undermine the process or protect dangerous police officers.

  • Winston Salem North Carolina LGBTQ Non-discrimination Ordinance
Allowing businesses to discriminate against people on the basis of gender identity and sexual orientation creates a bad reputation for the city of Winston Salem. As a member of the LGBTQ community I wonder where we draw the line with discrimination. Will I be turned away from healthcare? Or will I be turned away from a bank next? Discrimination in our city, is a threat to equality across our nation. We must do better to protect those from discrimination and do everything we can to prohibit the disruption of commerce. The Constitution grants us all “life” and “liberty” and warns against depravation of the two. I’m calling on you to protect “life” and “liberty” by enacting an ordinance that protects LGBTQ members from discrimination in business and in employment.

  • Del. Dave LaRock needs to resign or be removed!
On January 5th, 2021, Delegate LaRock sent Vice President Pence a letter on formal House of Delegate letterhead, asking for nullification of Virginia's electoral votes. Repeating the lies of electoral fraud, which we know there was none, LaRock attempted to disenfranchise millions of voters in VA simply because he didn't like the outcome. To be clear, high Black voter turnout is NOT voter fraud. By LaRock's own admission he has no proof to offer of electoral fraud (because there is none), this is a dangerous precedent LaRock is trying to set while also hoping to score political points as this is an election year for the House of Delegates. https://www.wric.com/news/politics/three-gop-virginia-delegates-sign-letter-asking-vp-pence-to-nullify-the-states-certified-election-results/ On January 6th, 2021, the day our US Capitol was attacked by domestic terrorists, LaRock voiced his support once again for overturning a free and fair election because as he says "he stands loyal to the President". He participated in the protest, called for his supporters to participate as well and when Trump supporters committed acts of sedition, LaRock attempted to spread more disinformation by blaming the left and antifa instead of where the blame belongs, with Donald Trump and his enablers like Delegate LaRock. This type of disinformation campaign is dangerous to our democracy and a thinly veiled attempt to silence the votes of Black voters. https://loudounnow.com/2021/01/11/larock-faces-calls-for-resignation-after-capitol-riot/ LaRock has faced numerous calls for his resignation including from the Loudon NAACP. In response to the calls for him to resign, LaRock sent a fundraising email in which he wrote: "Rather than focusing on the business of Loudoun County and the needs of the colored community, they are wasting their time and taxpayer resources to attack me.” https://www.washingtonian.com/2021/01/13/virginia-state-representative-says-critics-should-focus-on-colored-community-instead/ Words have power, and we should all have the expectation that our elected officials would choose theirs wisely and responsibly. Due to the harmful and overtly racist actions and words, we must all demand the resignation of Delegate Dave LaRock. Should he refuse to resign, we must then demand that he be removed from the House of Delegates.

  • Remove Michigan Legislators Who Participated in the Deadly Insurrection and Racial Parity
We the undersigned citizens of Michigan, object to the double standard of "discipline", between white Republicans and black Democratic legislators. We support this petition to hold insurrectionist accountable. HISTORY: Republican leaders claim their members who participated in the insurrection cannot be removed from committees, appointments or their jobs. This cannot happen. In December 2020, State Representative Cynthia A. Johnson, a black woman and Democrat, received thousands of death threats, including lynching, from Republican supporters just for speaking the truth. She was further attacked by Republican leaders, and "disciplined" for exercising her right to freely speak. She was removed from her committees, without due process. Those culpable for violence, promoting anti-democratic fallacies and plans to overthrow our government, should not be on tax-payer payrolls. Representative Johnson, must be made whole and any adverse actions, past, present or future nullified.

  • Seattle police union leader blames the Capitol riot on Black Lives Matter. He needs to go - NOW
The day after the violent attack and coup attempt at Capitol Hill, Mike Solan sent a tweet blaming Black Lives Matter for what happened. When he was challenged, he doubled down, saying that both the left and the right were responsible. By making these claims, Solan is lifting up a false and dangerous right-wing conspiracy theory that attempts to confuse the story of what happened and redirect blame towards people of color and the political left. It’s outrageous, but not surprising. Solan has consistently made appearances on right wing media to attack Black Lives Matter, defend violent and abusive police, and encourage a violent, authoritarian crackdown on anti-racist protesters. Meanwhile, Seattle’s Office of Police Accountability is already investigating 11 current Seattle police officers who attended the Trump rally that led to the attack on the Capitol. If that investigation finds that some officers participated in the attack, it’s likely that Solan will defend those officers and try to keep them in their jobs. The Seattle Mayor’s office issued a strong statement condemning Solan’s comments and calling on him to apologize or resign: “The SPOG President’s statement is wrong, immoral, and a lie. The violent and seditious actions we all witnessed were done by anti-government mobs, inspired and directed by President Trump and his legion of enablers. His statements do a huge disservice to the hundreds of police officers who work daily to serve the public and the rule of law, believe in equality, and were disgusted by Wednesday’s events. His statements do not reflect the values of the City of Seattle but instead echo the failed lies of a failed presidency. In fact, every officer at the Seattle Police Department has an obligation to not ‘post-speech that negatively impacts the Department’s ability to serve the public.’ As we expect this incident to be investigated by OPA, Solan should retract his statements and apologize or resign.” It’s a step in the right direction, but city leaders should push in no uncertain terms for Solan to be fired or removed from his positions as a police officer and police union leader. An apology would be meaningless, and not believable coming from Solan. If the city of Seattle wants police leadership it can trust, Solan needs to go.

  • Do not permit Trump's photo to be hung in the White House
As a mom I believe that my job is to lead by example in my words and actions. It is our civic duty to hold our leaders accountable for their actions. I do not believe that the 45th President deserves any place of honor or special recognition for the reason that he has divided this nation and incited insurrection.

  • Encourage Alaska Senator Lisa Murkowski to leave the Republican Party
Because she has called for Trump’s resignation and is a liberal Republican who has questioned her being in the party on multiple occasions. She said that if the Republican Party is the party of Trump, that party isn’t for her. We should encourage her to be at least an independent.

  • Restore the Integrity of Our Skyline, Remove the Trump Sign
The assault on January 6th, 2021 to our Nation's congress and our Capitol Building was an aberration, and a direct threat to our democracy. This violent attack was instigated by Mr. Trump and Mr. Trump Jr.. The rioters attempted to destroy the institutions that make us the strongest democracy in the world. These rioters displayed Neo-nazi, racist, and fascist symbols. As more footage of the incident is brought to light, we all are witnessing the violent nature of the groups that forced themselves into The People's House. A police officer was murdered and four other people died in this violent event. It is one of the darkest days in the history of our country. We must make sure that his name is not glorified in any way, because if we do not act we will have normalized the behavior Mr. Trump and his rioting mob of followers displayed. We Chicagoans and Americans ask you to do what is in your power to remove the sign that is now a stain to a city we are proud to call home. Thank you.
