When 20 kids were murdered December 14 at Sandy Hook, six teachers died trying to shield them from a Bushmaster XM15-E assault-type rifle with 30-round clips. Guns like this shouldn’t be available to just anyone. Our safety is at stake: Statistics show that more Americans have lost their lives to gun violence – just since 1968 -- than in all American wars combined. In the U.S. 200 people go to emergency rooms every day for gun shot wounds, and 85 people are killed, 53 through suicide. Bloomberg (Dec. 19, 2012) predicts that by 2015, firearms deaths in the U.S. will exceed traffic deaths. Cars are licensed and required to have safety feature, and we train new drivers. Guns are deadly. This is serious business. That’s why I want you to sign my petition to our Kansas Representatives. They need to hear your position on enforcing existing gun regulations and be open to new measures to assure that gun buying, selling, and operating are done responsibly and taken as seriously as we take our lives.

The Department of Defense plans to award medals to drone pilots. The plan is to place the award above the BRONZE STAR and slightly below the SILVER STAR.

This is about getting legislation to adopt into law a specialty plate for Disc Golfers in North Carolina. We need signatures to let Congress know that we are serious about getting a specialized plate. Signatures are needed to assert the effort.

I petition the Nenana Native Council to terminate the Tribal Administrator or she resign. She is not a tribal member of Nenana, Alaska nor was the position posted for a specific amount of time.

Our goal is to save the U.S. Postal Service from drastic cuts in service. We want the postal service to cease closing mail processing plants. We want the postal service to continue 6 day delivery and we want the postal service to stop closing post offices and cutting retail operating hours. Our goal is to see the dramatic pre payments into retirement accounts to stop and be returned to the postal service. We are proud of our postal network in Florida and want to keep it the way it is.

Governor Pat McCrory doesn't want to hear from you. At least that's what he's showing to North Carolina residents. The main switchboard phone line to the Governor's office is (919) 733-5811. This line theoretically is for constituents to call about issues that impact them. The problem is that the line doesn't accept voicemails after 6:00 nor does it direct to another constituent services line. Governor McCrory needs to make his office accessible to all North Carolinians. Having a functional phone line for constituents to call will be a huge step in the right direction.
