  • Demand that President Obama save the Richard Nuetra cyclorama at Gettysburg
There is an IMMEDIATE danger of the beautiful cyclorama building-designed by the iconic, modern American architect Richard Nuetra being demolished at any minute. This modernist building appears to be a "sore point " for the couple of hundred of "reinactors " who fill the battlefield throughout the year. Even though there are other buildings and memorials on the grounds --they don't seem to like this one because of it's "modern design"--- and they have won the ear of the Superintendent of the Park who ON HIS OWN has the power to destroy this building ! Despite a petition signed by almost 5000 people to the contrary, he is moving forward on this plan . The ONLY person who can stop the wrecking ball at this point is President Obama - who does have the authority to give the building a "reprieve" but up to this point has not responded to any "citizen" emails or letters sent to the White House. Perhaps with MoveOn's influence this historic building can be preserved for future generations. It is the one building dedicated to Peace and Coming together of both sides of that bloody war- another reason it should be preserved. Please sign so that Obama will act now in the building's behalf . Thank you .

This bill if passed, would deregulate cosmetology/licensing. By doing so, the livelihood and careers of everyone in this industry would be adversely effected i.e. Beauty schools, Educators, Licensed Professionals, Manufacturers, Distributors, etc all across the board resulting in LOST JOBS.... Just as important, without regulation and enforcement of regulations like the one we currently have in place now we would undoubtably see a decline to our industry's standards. Who would ensure that proper sanitation practices remained in place for the public? Who would ensure persons providing these services use sanctioned chemicals, implements and sterilization methods? It is absurd, and demeaning for any individual who would think it possible to provide quality skilled services without the training equal to the hundreds of thousand of us that have dedicated our entire careers to uphold the laws and regulations set forth to protect the public as well as those providing the services. There is a degree of professionalism and safety the public expects from business and those providing these services, and without regulation we lose both. It is certain the consumers would be at great risk from receiving services from unlicensed individuals posing to be professional. The public deserves and demands better than this. Get informed!!!! Read Texas HB 87!!! Let your voice be heard!! Contact Rep Bill Callegari Chairman of the house government efficiency and reform committee. Capitol contact for Bill Callegari (512) 463-0528 Austin tx. District contact for Bill Callegari (281)578-8484 or (281) 371-2330. Houston Tx. Rep Bill Callegari aims to curb State Licensing requirements. Share your opinion with his office and tell everyone you know what Callegari is proposing. Don't let his reform committee slip this piece of harmful legislation through the cracks. Call Governor Rick Perry's Office (512) 463-1782 or (800) 843-5789. Tell Rick Perry you OPPOSE HB 87. Cosmetologist in the State of Indiana recently had to take on this same proposal of deregulation. Indiana HB 1006 was quickly stifled by a strong and overwhelming turn out of citizens speaking out and opposing the bill. Congratulations on your victory!! OK TEXAS IT'S OUR TURN... LET OUR OPPOSITION BE HEARD IN A BIG WAY!!!!!!!!

  • Save Dante's Down the Hatch in Atlanta
There's a restaurant in Buckhead, Atlanta (Lenox area) called Dante's Down the Hatch which is a cultural gem. It has antique cars outside, a pirate ship inside with a steering wheel for kids, is zagat rated, and has been around for a while. It is being priced out of the area by raising land value making the taxes that of a 15-story office building, even though it's a restaurant. Please sign this petition so the city doesn't treat it as business-as-usual.

  • say "NO" to IL SB-1532, The AG-GAG Bill
This bill introduced by Senator Chapin Rose of the 51st District amends the Humane Care for Animals Act. This is another effort by the industry to shield their harmful and inhumane practices from the public and enforcement agencies. Ag-gag bills aren’t about silencing journalists and whistleblowers. They’re about curbing consumer access to information at a time when more and more Americans want to know where our food comes from and how it’s produced.

  • Restore funding for CUNY Child Care
CUNY child care programs serve over 1400 student parents and their children in 18 campus-based centers, and over 75% of these families are identified as being low-income. These families not only receive a high level of quality care and education through the CUNY child care programs, but many student parents receive financial support, provided through public funds, to enroll their children in campus-based centers. Thus the child care assistance enables many student parents find academic success while pursuing their higher degrees. Over the last several years CUNY Child Care has encountered multiple budget cuts, and this year alone we are facing a budget cut totaling $685,000. The loss of this crucial funding makes it difficult to maintain quality care and education each child and family needs, and also puts families at risk for losing access to these essential programs.
