• Security Harassment and Our Rights
We all know the security at Sterling Alvarado is a very annoying and problematic issue; so lets do something to change that! I've been a resident at Sterling since day 1 and have experienced a lot of security (rent a cop) harassment throughout my time here. I want to make a change as well as many of the residents I've spoken with here. I filed many complaints to the office but of course that did not effect anything. I want to get everyone's signature so we can all make a change/adjustment of how the security over here should deal with certain complaints. We all pay rent here and this is after all an "off campus" apartment and I feel like I'm living in the dorms. We can make this happen!

  • Please prohibit the use of hand-held phones while driving
Too many people are irresponsibly talking on their cell phones while driving in NC. In turn, they are not using their turn signal and not driving with both hands on the wheel, which are causing a lot of auto accidents. Other states have adopted a hands-free law which allows the driver to still talk on the phone, while using an inexpensive, easily available headset or hands-free blue tooth device.

  • North Carolina: Pass a Statewide Leash Law
There are too many people that allow their dogs to roam free and breed causing an over population of feral dogs and disease. Also, they are a danger to children, adults and other animals. Passing a State wide leash law would give NC more control on an out of control issue.

  • Robin Kelly: Debate the Candidates for 2nd CD
Robin Kelly told FOX 32 Political Editor Mike Flannery that she won't participate in any more campaign debates. "My schedule is actually very booked; very, very booked," Kelly said when asked if she plans to make it to any more forums before Election Day. Now that the general election is weeks away, it is time to stop hiding and debate the remaining candidates. We all know your thoughts on gun control. But there are more issues in the 2nd Congressional District than gun control. If you want to serve the people, the people want to hear from you. Make yourself available to debate the remaining candidates. You have not won the seat.

  • NYPD: Ticket Deadly Drivers, not Bikes
As pedestrian fatalities continue to rise, the New York Police Department has focused on ticketing more bicyclists, even while deadly drivers continue to speed and threaten the lives of pedestrians and everyone else on the road. Until New York reduces its car-on-pedestrian fatalities by at least half, the police should stop ticketing New Yorkers who are using one of the safest and cleanest transportation options around. If we can get enough signatures, I'd like to do some kind of bike-powered delivery to City Hall together -- so please share!

  • District 225 - It's Time to Dissolve the Glenbrook Musical
Glenbrook North and Glenbrook South High Schools should have their own high school musical. By combining the student populations of these two large high schools, students are not given a fair opportunity to participate in a high school musical production during their years in high school. Would we combine the athletic teams of the two schools to produce one fantastic team? Of course not. Every surrounding school manages to produce their own musical, and are just as proud of their smaller scale production because it is their own students who are performing.

  • Earth Day weekend boycott of all gmo-based foods
Recently in California a proposition was narrowly defeated (via a $46 million dollar ad-blitz by the conglomerate "farmers") that would have required the labeling of all foods containing gmo (genetically modified organism). Many of us are concerned that these foods have been deemed "safe" by the FDA with little or no testing. Many more of us are tired of our concerns, as consumers, being ignored. We are tired of paying for these products in health detriments and inflated foods costs, to name only two. We are tired of being lied to. To demonstrate our seriousness and collective concern, we are boycotting all gmo-based products for the weekend of Earth Day, April 20-22. We ask that our local, state and national governing bodies support us in making proper labeling of foods containing GMOs mandatory.

  • Gun violence against women aided by the US Forest Service
I live in a forest inholding for my health and that of my daughter. The Forest Service plans to obtain a right of way over the private easement road to my home. The right of way will legally allow access to FS land which has been used by bear hunters to terrorize us, trespass on my property, and repeatedly kill our pet ducks, chickens, and geese, and seriously injure our horse. Help protect us from the violence and terrorism before we must give up our special needs home.

  • Health Care Reform for Animals!!
A life is a life and a gift, We need to reform the pre-exsisting condition for animals and if you rescue a animail you should get a break in animal insurance. It is time to lower the cost overall!! So many animals are being given up because of this...I feel we are being taken advantage of. Lower animal health care cost and millions would be saved. I think it is so sad and wrong to say we can't help you because of pe-exsisting condition for any life. Life is not a business, Its about living and humanatarian to care for it. Its overdue and with what is going on in this country with expected layoffs is time to do something. I hope you agree with me and we can make something happen.

  • Stop Unlabeled Aspartame in Milk!
The International Dairy Foods Association (IDFA) and the National Milk Producers Federation seeks to drop the FDA requirement to label milk and other dairy products as "artificially sweetened" when they contain sweeteners such as aspartame. Labeling must include all ingredients regardless of FDA safety approval. If approved these sweetners could then be added to any other food product and not be labeled.
