Tax gun owners to pay for NRA recommended school security guardsThe NRA has refused to enter the discussion about reducing gun violence in our society. They have recommended that schools have armed guards to insure safety. Unfortunately, no funding source for this plan was discussed. Gun owner must realize that their second amendment right does come with responsibilities as well.7 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Steven Cohen

Speed Bumps on East 65th Place From Stony Island to DorchesterThe westbound street from 65th Place and Stony Island to South Dorchester currently serves as a perilous throughway for cars trying to get around traffic jams on Stony Island. It is an extremely narrow ,single lane, one way street. Last spring our family dog was crushed by a car going at an excessive speed down the street. As our block continues to flourish, more families are moving in with small children, making it ever more likely that a child will be injured by a car using this street as a way to get around traffic.15 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Tommy Thomas

Insurance for Gun OwnersIf car owners must carry insurance, why not gun owners who can do more harm with a gun than most do with a car. Also, car registration must be renewed each year with a fee, so should gun owners registration.8 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Rima Petrutis

Safe Bus Stops Along State RoadsThe bus stop waiting areas and stopping locations along State roads in Florida and elsewhere are appallingly unsafe. It is horrible to see people standing in the grass, in ditches, in the mud etc. Also, there are almost no bus pull outs and buses stop in the moving traffic lane on state roads where the speed limit is 45-55 mph. There have been numerous rear end collisions with buses. Every week across the US there are State road projects yet they are not making them safer for people who need to ride the bus. Everyone is in favor of more bus ridership and less private vehicles yet it is extremely dangerous and unsafe to get on and off the bus on most state roads.57 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Sue Lang

Nominate Sheila Bair as Treasury SecretaryWomen represent 53% of the electorate; we manage home finances as well as businesses. It is time that the Federal Treasury be managed to embrace issues for women as well as Wall Street. Sheila Bair was head of the FDIC before and during the Financial Crisis. She challenged both Paulson and Geithner on their approaches to dealing with the crisis. Appointed by George Bush in 2006, she brings the experience of being at the table during the financial crisis, a woman's perspective, and the potential for bi-partisan support and approaches to crucial Treasury decisions this year and forward. Let's have the nation's Treasury headed by a representative of 53% of the electorate.2 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Martha Sipe

On Gun SafetyFor me, the issue is not so much gun control as gun safety. In the US, we have an epidemic of gun-related deaths and injuries. The US, with about 5% of the world’s population, own more than 50% of the world’s guns. We have one of the highest murder rates of any nation. We have a large number of accidental deaths with guns. I believe that the issues of gun safety is similar to the issue of automobile safety, and that a system of regulations on gun ownership paralleling the regulations on automobile safety is appropriate. In addition, every gun owner should carry liability insurance just as automobile owners do. Such liability insurance should be expensive enough that ownership of many guns is discouraged. The incidence of gun-related accidents in the homes of law enforcement officials is significantly less than that in the homes of others. One of the ready sources of unregistered guns used in crimes is gun theft. We need a long-term goal of having every gun registered and linked to its owner.59 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Lloyd Edwards
