• RIbbon for Sandy Hook
The school colors for Sandy Hook Elementary are green and white. I want to start a petition to have green and white ribbons placed on trees everywhere until meaningful dialogue followed by real change in legislation and laws are made for sensible gun control and mental health availability for all who need it. Thank you. Together we CAN stand up for change!

  • eliminate super bright white halogen headlights
Bright white headlights do not improve visibility for the night time driver over traditional headlights while they do impair the ability of the oncoming driver--as well as pedestrians--to clearly distinguish the road.

  • Revoke the Red Light Cameras in Chicago
In Chicago today, we the citizens are being heavily taxed and penalized by red light cameras. Many times they are invalid and all the time they are too costly. To challenge these tickets, one must take off from work because ticket court is only open during business hours Monday thru Friday.

  • BOYCOTT WAL MART
I have stopped shopping at Wal Mart. Although, many companies products are made in other countries, Wal Mart's clothes are made in Bangladesh. A little over a month ago, there was a fire in one of those factories. 112 people died in that building. This is because all the doors, but one were chained and padlocked closed. This is so not right. I am boycotting Wal Mart until they can get their products made here, or until they can change the way their factories overseas are run and give those employees the same rights we have here.

  • protection from violence in our schools nation wide
How many innocent lives does it take to realize that we need more protection in our schools. We need to not only make gun laws stronger, but provide each school nation wide with metal detectors. Security guards, and cameras inside and out. The cost may be great, but saving lives is greater. Children should feel safe in schools and parents should feel at ease.

  • Stop publishing the names of mass murderers
With our voracious appetite for news, I believe we're encouraging these mass killers to one-up each other by publishing their names and backgrounds, thus allowing them to become infamous.

  • This Christmas Come Together to End Gun Violence
Last night at a Christmas concert in my church we began with prayers for the shooting in Connecticut. I could hear others crying as was I when the priest said the names of the children and teachers who died and then the name of the shooter. The traditional readings and songs, with imagery of innocent babies, the coming of the Prince of Peace and the words, "Comfort, Comfort Ye My People" carried a whole new meaning. I thought, let's seize this moment to try and end gun violence.

  • Tell the Media: Stop Giving Shooters Access to Enduring National Notoriety
I just read the quote popularly attributed to Morgan Freeman regarding all these senseless shootings. Whoever said this -- Morgan Freeman or someone else -- may very well be on to something. How about if the media stops reporting the identity of these terrorists? No names, no photos, nothing. It would be a very interesting experiment. And, really, does any of us even care about knowing these disturbed individuals' names or seeing their photos? Would it leave a void in your life to NOT have that information? Does hearing their names or seeing their photos enrich your life in any way? I don't want any more innocent people -- especially children! -- terrorized, injured, and murdered at the hands of someone who will do anything to go down in infamy as a household name.
