We, the citizens of NJ must set an example for our fellow Americans....Urge our Politicians to stand up in favor of Back Up Paper trails in our voting machines. Machines have been known to "break-down" but a paper trail does not! Who will stand with me and demand paper trails?

The Supreme Court's "Citizens United" decision has created a "buy the election" situation across the country. We need to reverse this decision by legislation in Connecticut.

Shame on the General Assembly and the courts for agreeing to the blatantly biased redistricting of Missouri. Jackson county has had a teardrop shape carved out of it to go into the rural 6th district, meanwhile the rest of Jackson county is in the 5th district with Ray, Lafayette and Saline counties. Urban and rural populations with dissimilar interests. Over in St. Louis, the districts with 2 incumbent Democrats were merged into one, so that will make for one less Democrat in Congress. Clearly the plan in redistricting was not to serve Missourians, but to decrease the number of Democrats who can win their district and serve in the US Congress. This should never have been approved. It is clearly politically motivated and politically drawn to serve one party. It's too late for the 2012 election, but not too late to say "Shame on the Missouri General Assembly."

The State of Kentucky needs to either stop using electronic voting machines or immediately adapt them to a process that generates a paper record of each vote when the vote is cast. There may not be a problem with the machines at this time, but if a problem does occur, there needs to be a more accountable method for verifying which ballots were cast. By not having a paper record of votes cast, in a case of recount or trouble with the machines, the vote may become subject to question.

My 22 y/o brother, Louis Jarrod Edwards, was killed by a drunk driver on Wednesday, November 17, 2010. Our family has paid $300.00 to have a sign erected in his memory and we would like to have the sign remain permanently, not the 2 year limit that is currently in place!

The NJ Religious Exemption to Vaccination is in danger. Currently, parents can opt their children out of vaccines due to religion without being forced to reveal private information such as their religious affiliation. A new bill S1759, sponsored by Senators Loretta Weinberg and Joseph Vitale, is highly intrusive, expensive, and appears unconstitutional. If S1759 is signed into law, it will require parents seeking a religious exemption to: * specify their exact religious tenets in notarized, signed, and sworn format * include an explanation of the nature of the religious tenet or practice that is implicated by the "vaccination" * explain how administration of "the vaccine" would violate, contradict, or otherwise be inconsistent with that tenet or practice * affirm that the religious tenet is consistently held * obtain a signed statement from a physician or advanced practice nurse licensed in New Jersey proving that parents received vaccine counseling, thus requiring medical advice for a decision that should be made on religious grounds. This bill is redundant and wasteful. Doctors are already required to discuss the risks and benefits of vaccination with parents. The religious exemption to mandatory vaccination is a cherished religious and parental right. Please oppose S1759 by signing this petition.

I am a life-long Kansan and I feel our state officials that sit on the Kansas Objections Board are embarrassing our state by not rejecting out of hand the notion that Barack Obama is not a citizen. They are considering removal of his name from the ballot and meet again this Monday, September 17th, to consider the matter further. I want the board to reject the challenge brought to them that President Obama does not have the right to be on our state's ballot this November.

Ohioans are disgusted to learn that a lobbyist and former employee of Josh Mandel is running the dark group that has raised over $1 million to viciously attack his opponent, Senator Sherrod Brown. Allowing and encouraging these kinds of attack ads behind the scenes is unfair and misleading. I have followed Senator Brown's career and know him to be an honest, caring Congressman who does not deserve to be slandered in this manner.

At first pageants were just cute kids in frilly outfits, but now it has turned into kids pretending to smoke, dressing as strippers, even padded breasts are now the norm. Kids are often seen kicking,screaming,and BEGGING for there moms to stop with the make up and spray on tans! We need to change this.

This petition is to show Jefferson Parish leaders how important a small, professionally run, free concert series is to the well being and mindset of the local residents who graciously supported the Live @ Lafreniere Sunset Concert Series. Not only was it presented to give residents of Jefferson Parish a fun, family friendly event to share with their neighbors...it supported the local musicians, who have been a part of the region's culture and heritage for many years, as well as financially benefiting Lafreniere Park, the namesake of the event.

Anyone in his or her 40s, 50s, and 60s who has been forced out into the job market again by a layoff in this economy, knows how hard it is to find a new job and how prevalent the practice is of circumventing equal employment opportunity laws by 'prescreening' applicants by asking for their birthdate. It's time this blatantly discriminatory practice came to an end.

I've had a student loan since 1989. Due to school bankruptcy the schooling was interrupted: finished at another school, but without any benefit of placement. I have never worked in this field as a result and never netted a thin dime. Due to overwhelming circumstances I been able to pay very little, and the interest has grown exponentially. Now I'm retired on Social Security and DOE has taken a federal offset from my benefits to pay the loan. This works a real hardship with less than 900 to live on.
