• End Dogfighting and Puppy Mills
There must be stronger laws for animal welfare. I just saw a picture of a dog used as bait in a dog fight and it is heartbreaking that we live in a country that allows this to continue. Also, individuals are making tax-free income operating inhumane puppy mills and selling puppies over the Internet and pet stores. Legislators don't take animal welfare seriously enough to help end animal abuse which is sad because people that abuse animals often abuse children and spouses. Individuals that participate in dog fighting often are involved in drugs and other illegal activity. This hurts all of us not just the animals. I'm asking The White House and members of Congress to step up to animal abuse. Thank-you

  • BRING BACK Broadway 104 to Original Route
The 104 bus, the only bus on Broadway which is used by many elderly using canes, walkers and wheelchairs, mothers with children in carriages, travelers with luggage and everyone else who were able to take this bus from all the way uptown to the East Side. passing City University, NY Public Library and Grand Central Station. Most cannot afford taxis or the difficulties of getting off one bus, carrying children, luggage, using walkers to cross streets and wait for and get onto another bus. The same is true for East Siders needing to go West to Port Authority, to the theater district, and Lincoln Center and also further uptown on the West Side. This bus made travel possible for so many especially as subways are not possible for so many. This bus route was wonderful, and useful for all ages of our citizens and for tourists.

  • Sidewalks for Rainey Street in Austin, TX
I live in the area and have seen crowded streets with people walking in the street and auto traffic narrowed to two lanes. The popularity of the area has expanded faster than the street can handle and the pedestrians are at risk. The City of Austin could have saved itself a pile of money if they had just demanded that the businesses along the street put in sidewalks in front of their property as a condition of getting a permit. But that horse is out of the barn and the safety is now an issue for the City.

The Rainey Street area has blossomed into a hip place to be and there is lots of pedestrian traffic since no place has enough parking. But if the City of Austin doesn't act fast there could be some traffic fatalities if they don't provide a sidewalk for the walking traffic on Rainey Street.
