• Reauthorize SNAP (food stamps) so that working poor can properly feed their families.
I have taught elementary at a school on a Navy base. Most of my students were from enlisted families, who were part of the working poor because of low enlisted salaries. Most of these students relied upon free or reduced lunches and SNAP. If the GOP is serious about supporting our troops, then they need to provide adequate nutrition for their families. Please sign this petition to hold them to their pledge to support our troops, and to provide for nutritional support for all working poor.

  • Keep Roseland Ballroom Open!
Roesland Ballroom has been part of New York's history since 1919 evolved from ballroom dancing in the 20's to the music of today. It has featured revered musicians and artists in the genres of Rock, Disco, Grunge, Modern Rock, Jam, Pop, Urban, and Electronic Music. Everyone from The Rolling Stones to Madonna has graced the stage of this venue. To this day, Roseland Ballroom is still a highly trafficked and sought out venue hosting live concerts and events. The closing of this venue will be a huge loss to the city of New York and changing Roseland Ballroom into anything but a live music venue will prevent patrons from revisiting its history. Roseland Ballroom needs to stay open in order to be able to be remembered for its history that spans over 90 years. Please sign this petition in order to keep Roseland Ballroom open and preserving one of New York's treasured Art & Musical landmarks!

  • 30 MPH Speed Limit on Rt. 172
This stretch of 172 is home to hundreds of school children who ride school buses every day. Drivers from NY and CT frequently travel this stretch of road in excess of 50 MPH and there have been multiple accidents over the past several years. For the safety of our children and overall quality of life, let's make Rt. 172 30 MPH like most other roads in our area.

  • New Scenes
I can't remember the last time I went to or enjoyed the movie theatre in Madison. The theatre is mostly flawed in appearence; sticky floors, ripped screens, no doors on the bathrooms, filthy seats ect. There are other ways that the theatre is flawed such as the fact that the heater is too loud and you can't always enjoy the movie. Not only do I believe that the update would create a cleaner, more family friendly theatre. I feel as if it would also bring in more business and profit.

  • Valencia Speedway? Wrong for our West Mesa!
Valencia County has an unparalleled historical, cultural and natural resource in its 125 square miles of rangeland. We owe it to future generations to fully consider what this resource means to the County and plan for its future development accordingly. Saying "yes" to individual unplanned development schemes will foreclose this opportunity forever.

  • Fund Veterans Benefits
On Nov. 1, if the ongoing budget battle isn't resolved, the Department of Veterans Affairs won’t be able to send out benefits checks to nearly 5.2 million veterans and family members. As a fully Disabled Veterans I know first hand what a nightmare this is to live in the fear and uncertainty. Can I pay my mortgage? Buy food? Get Medical Care? Refill my Prescriptions? Saying "Thank you for your service" won't help me with any of these things. It's time to take action. http://tinyurl.com/kp9q2pp

  • Stop Mega Cell Tower And Power Line Project
This project will cause a nearly 2 year traffic jam on Topanga Cyn. Blvd. and harm the businesses there both financially and biologically due to the new mega cell tower to be installed at the post office. While other countries are taking steps to reduce cell tower radiation exposure to their citizens, LA County is looking to increase it for Topangans. The WHO says this radiation causes cancer in humans, Taiwan just removed 1500 cell towers due to death and illness, India lowered their radiation emissions by 90% and moved cell towers away from communities due to outbreaks of cancer near the towers and countries across Europe are taking protective action on this issue. Why must we be placed in harms way? This project must be stopped. For studies on health effects from wireless electromagnetic radiation go to http://www.citizensforaradiationfreecommunity.org/articles

  • Volleyball for MHSN
I noticed a lot of students wanting to join a volleyball team. When we found out there wasn't one at our school we were shocked that our sport savvy school didn't have a team. Volleyball is a fun sport that has been growing quite popular lately. Many students, including students who usually don't join school sports, have taken an interest in trying out.

  • NVTC and RPTC: Add counter-rush hour traffic and weekend service
I have been a resident of the DC area my entire life and have been attending the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg for the past three years. I believe we can speak for everyone who lives or will live along Interstate 95 that something must be done about the incredible amount of car traffic that has become more and more apparent along the highway in the last decade. However, widening the highway or adding an HOV lane or building the Bi-County Parkway is not a long-term solution. Traffic on I-95 is no longer a morning and evening, weekday phenomenon--it happens at all times of the day and night. And it's only getting worse. The best way to prevent this environmental disaster from worsening is to add more cheap, enjoyable train rides by VRE for commuters of all kinds, not just the 9am to 5pm office workers. The MARC Train in Maryland has been providing counter-rush hour service for years now and will begin providing weekend service starting December 7th--so should Virginia!

  • Save the Wolfe Manor
The Wolfe Manor is an important building in history for the city of Clovis. It is the hope of owner Todd Wolfe to restore this majestic building and bring new business and tourism to Clovis. The City of Clovis is biased in its decision to demolish this building and we want to let the council know that Clovis cares about its history.
