Proposed Chained Consumer Price Index reducing Social Security and Medicare benefits to retired military and citizens. Social Security is NOT an entitlement it is pay for by American Citizens with each paycheck and listed as FICA. We need to ACT or government will have you and your grandchildren literally working yourself to the grave!

Before you steal anymore money from SS you should all give up your own pensions and the other perks you get for doing nothing.

As a person who won't be eligible for social security for a few decades, I think it is very important to do my part now to ensure it's around when I'm old enough to collect it.

Im mother of disable (Deaf), my daughter was raped when she was 5 yr old, I have taken her yers of councelling, plus medical, dental, audiologest, ENT Dr. and life skill training to put her in our society adds up, I wouldn't be able to do all that by myself, we depend on SSI and Medicaid, PLESE STOP THE CUTS !!!! In the end we all benefit from kids doing better, because they are our FUTURE

We've been paying into Social Security our entire lives -- with the promise that we'd have a certain amount of income we could rely upon at retirement. You're not just breaking a Promise. You're breaking the promises of Presidents and Congresses over the past nearly 8 decades. That's a life-span of Social Security lasting 1/3 of our nation's history.

Cutting Social Security Benefits for current and future retirees while they are already struggling with rising health care costs as well as the cost of living erases the "American dream". My husband worked in a cabinet company for 48 years, struggling to raise a family he paid into the system his whole life and even now we can hardly make ends meet. We own our home and vehicles so we don't qualify for assistance, so if our income is chopped any deeper we won't be able to hang onto our own American Dream.

Medical and prescription costs continue to rise. Cutting senior's small monthly Social Security, will only increase the poverty level in this Country that will cause an increase in welfare benefits.

I am opposed to altering Social Security by limiting future increases. We paid into this system in good faith.

Two-thirds of seniors rely on Social Security for more than half of their income, as do 3.2 million disabled veterans and 350,000 children and surviving spouses. The President's proposed cuts to Social Security through "chained CPI" will have a drastic effect on these groups, no less since a greater-than-average amount of their spending goes to health care, costs for which are outpacing even normal inflation measures. There are more logical and less painful ways of reforming Social Security, such as raising the cap on income subject to the payroll tax. What we should NOT do is hide behind deficit fear-mongering to make cuts to this immensely popular program, especially since Social Security hasn't added a single penny to the deficit. Please join me in encouraging Representative Yarmuth to oppose chained CPI and any other cuts to Social Security, and to support more common-sense reforms instead.
