Urge American Airlines and their partners to participate in the collection of recyclable items on their aircrafts. American Airlines leads major companies like; U.S. Airways, PSA and of course, American Airlines. According to a recent study “the EPA estimates that 75% of the American waste stream is recyclable” and with such a large company, they can make a major difference by simply doing recycling collections. Please urge them to act now and make recycling collection occur on all of their aircrafts.

I still remember the pride I felt when I first learned this quote: “Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed, to me: I lift my lamp beside the golden door.”

My daughter's high school is shuffling students to 'balance' class sizes, some of which are larger than 40 students. Teachers are digging into their own pockets to purchase critical supplies that are not forthcoming from their school districts. Administrative staffs have had to perform more tasks due to the under funding of their budgets. Teacher salaries have been declining. In the past fifteen years the number of graduates seeking to become a teacher has fallen from over 40,000 to less than 21,000 people. Let's reverse this ominous decline! No more talk...we need action. Now!

Victoria A Chapman's child was beaten by a babysitter. The babysitter was not charged, but Victoria was charged with child endangerment. Then the courts had her take a plea without representation, which is illegal for the courts to do in the state of Ohio. THEN her doctor's visits required her to reschedule probation appointments, the P.O. accepted these reschedulings, but then later stated these were missed appointments with him, to the courts. Victoria is in jail and her kids have been stolen from her by FCCS for a crime she didn't commit while the criminal isn't charged. She is therefore being held illegally. Share this with everyone you know. Let's free the innocent!!!

Protection for those refugees who want freedom. We cannot turn our backs towards humans who are suffering and in terrible danger as we did in the late 30's and 40's towards the Jews until millions were murdered and suffered incredibly prior to their demise.

Images of dead refugees washing ashore, including a 3 year old boy, have deeply affected us all. But while Germany is accepting 800,000 refugees, we have only accepted a few thousand. We claim to be a compassionate, Christian nation - let's show it. We have the size, the wealth and the resources to do it - let's do it! And let's have Wisconsin's congressional delegation lead the way.

Why do high school and college televised games cut to commercials for the halftime show? I really don't understand, especially since for the super bowl everyone always talks about and looks forward to the halftime show and that's televised! The NFL pays a fortune to musicians to "play" at halftime, but the musicians who are in college or high school and are actually playing instruments live are completely ignored! And let's face it, most of those pro musicians are making a lot more money than the pro players! The band kids, whether we're talking high school or college, work as hard, if not harder, on their craft as the football players and some may actually make it professionally. Plus for people like me, who would like to see the halftime show, it really stinks! I think the bands should compete during each game just like the players and the winning bands should be the ones to play the playoff game! Heck, the NFL could save a ton of money by having the winner of the playoff game, play at the super bowl instead of paying an arm and a leg to have somebody up there lip syncing! Lots of famous people (not just musicians) have started out in marching bands but just for the sake of shortening this post I'll name just some musicians: Gwen Stefani, Gloria Estefan, Steven Tyler, Celine Dion, Lionel Richie, Aretha Franklin, Nelly Furtado, Tommy Lee, and Trent Reznor to name a few. For more than 200 years, our country has been led by male presidents. Of the 19 remaining candidates in the 2016 presidential race, 16 are men. Women fill only 20% of Congressional seats, and make up only 6 out of 50 state governors. The U.S. falls in 54th place on the World Economic Forum's gender equality ranking in the area of political leadership. Being a social justice champion requires working to make our democracy truly representative. As the progressive presidential candidate, Bernie Sanders should take a stand for gender equality and propose policies to address the lack of female representation in politics.

Rupert Murdoch's 21st Century Fox just bought a majority stake in National Geographic's media assets, including its iconic science magazine. That's bad news for anyone who cares about an independent and informative media, if Fox's flagship news network is any indication—a study by the Union of Concerned Scientists found 72% of Fox News' climate science coverage to be "misleading." Voters need accurate information about the world around us that's based on science, not ideology. For more than a century, National Geographic's non-profit journalism has given us that, and Fox says this sale won't change anything -- but we need a guarantee. National Geographic must immediately adopt policies—including appointing a Public Editor—to ensure the magazine's editorial independence.

September is Adult Literacy Month. Adults are a child's first teacher. If an adult struggles with reading, children and families suffer. Let's work together to break this cycle! Literacy matters!!
