The abrupt removal of Dr. Murry from her position as principal 4 weeks into the school year is unconscionable. Under her leadership, Liberty has thrived, met goals, and has maintained a standard of quality. The education of the student's is her priority, reinstate Dr. Murry and put Liberty back on course, NOW!

Citizens should feel protected by law enforcement not fearful. Some police officers have falsified police reports costing citizens hundreds of dollars in fines and in some instances jail time. Without police body cameras it's difficult for citizens to prove their testimony is truth over the police officers in the court of law. Citizens have lost careers and even their lives over false testimonies and charges written by police officers. I know that Police Body Cameras will not fix all the brokenness within our Criminal Justice System, but at least it will be an initial first step in the right direction towards reform.

I've seen bullying happen in the workplace.

Nashville, like many others across the nation, is a welcoming city with many programs already in place to assist immigrants and refugees who contribute to our vibrant community. In the largest refugee crisis in decades, Turkey, Lebanon, and Jordan officially host more than 3.75 million Syrian refugees. Germany has pledged to accept 800,000. The United States can and must take more than 10,000. Pledge to accept at least 65,000. This is how we win the war on ISIS; by showing compassion to thousands, changing hearts and minds about Americans, and living up to the words on the Statue of Liberty: "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free".

The University of Phoenix — and its for-profit ilk — have been significantly responsible for the student debt crisis in the United States. These outfits prey upon poor and minority students as well as veterans. Clearly, these 'for-profit" vultures — who have dismal graduation rates and high default rates — should go out of business. It is shameful that a national governing body has partnered with such an agency, who's own founder has been highly critical of what his creation has become.

Violence against women and women's health clinics occurs every day. Too often, it is treated like an isolated incident by the mainstream media. This needs to stop. This arson, which is being investigated by a federal terrorism task force, needs to be called out for what it is by the media as part of an orchestrated campaign of violence against women's health clinics that is committed again and again by domestic terrorists.

The Iran deal is a strong agreement and an achievement of vigorous diplomacy. It has the support of nuclear security experts, our allies around the world, and Americans like me. No Senator who believes in the importance of American leadership should oppose this multilateral agreement. To those members of Congress who continue to oppose this deal because of politics and misinformation, we urge you to reconsider your position. By continuing to divide our nation, you are dragging America’s reputation through the mud in another partisan spectacle that will not succeed in killing the deal. All members of Congress should now come together to ensure that this verifiable deal is fully implemented. This deal not only blocks Iran’s pathway to a nuclear weapon, but it demonstrates precisely how America can win without war. The national debate about the Iran deal has been about more than a nuclear agreement. This fight has tested our nation’s ability to resolve international disputes through diplomacy – not war – and diplomacy has prevailed. We urge you, our leaders, to build upon this diplomatic victory to advance a more progressive foreign policy rooted in diplomacy, not war.

People were suspicious of Jews like my father when he came to the United States as a refugee, because Jews were all supposed to be hostile foreigners and Communist terrorists. Suspicion of Muslims, as if they're all terrorists, when in fact only a tiny percentage of them are, is just the same. 99 percent of these people just want to live and work and raise their family peacefully.

By removing any increase in the minimum wage for tipped workers, the Portland City Council left 40 percent of low-wage workers out. These workers need a raise too. In Portland, the median hourly earnings for tipped workers is just $8.77, according to Restaurant Opportunity Centers United. Many of these workers rely on food stamps to get by. Very few of them get health care or paid sick days. Even at the very highest-end expensive restaurants, servers earn just $14.50 an hour--still less than a living wage in Portland--contrary to the false claims of restaurant lobbyists. On paper, employers are supposed to bring tipped workers up to the full minimum wage if their tips are too low. In practice, this simply doesn't happen. The Department of Labor has found a violation rate of over 80 percent. The only two members of the City Council to vote for giving tipped workers a raise were Kevin Donoghue and David Marshall. Mike Brennan, Nick Mavodones, Ed Suslovic, Justin Costa, David Brenerman, Jill Duson, and Jon Hinck all voted to lower the tipped minimum wage to $3.75.

I am starting this petition because I, among many others, was unable to continue my education beyond high school even though I've attended North Carolina schools since I was 6 years old. As Undocumented Students we have to pay three times as much as an in state student even though we have lived here for many years. At this moment there are 20 states that currently have in state tuition for Undocumented Students. I urge you to sign this petition to show your support. I sincerely hope that we are given the chance to fulfill our dreams of becoming teachers, doctors, scientists, physiologists and many other things that we can accomplish with a higher education.

The tragedies that happen overseas cannot be ignored just because they aren't happening at our doorstep. The first step in changing minds is changing lives. Not by weapons this time. Not by invasions or through conversions. But through kindness. A kindness that costs so little to us personally. I create this petition because I want the world to see the United States the way that it should be. As an entity for good in the world.

Mississippi state Governor Phil Bryant has made it clear that he will not take down this symbol of American Apartheid. PEPSICO, AT&T, CAPITAL ONE, ALLSTATE, and DR. PEPPER and other companies yield great profit and promotion from their financial sponsorships of college football games played in Mississippi, their continued silence on this issue is a statement of complicity with the governor. These companies make great profit and promotion off the labor of young African American men--and yes it is labor event though they are "playing" football-- but it amounts to exploitation when the lives of these young men have no value when they are off the field. The flag's historical record dating back to Mississippi's secession from the union is one that quite literally says that African Americans are less than human. Governor Bryant's zeal to hold on to the flag even in the face of the Emmanuel 9 and countless recent acts of violence associated with that flag since, shows an allegiance to that legacy. It has to stop and the flag must be removed. These companies plain and simple make money off bigotry. We must act to end this.
