I serve the inmates in my district with a radio show called Radio Jail where people call in and give messages to incarcerated friends and family.

I feel that the Rebel Flag has gotten a bad reputation by racist radicals, and since your legislation is without a vote for the people and by the people, then replace the Rebel Flag with the 1st Confederate Flag ever flown during the Civil War, to honor the dutiful and brave soliders that fought and lost their lives for it.

It is a disgrace that the State memorializes a man who was a traitor, defender of slavery, and responsible for the deaths of 750,000 Americans. Traitor Jefferson Davis was an enemy of the United States who rejected a fundamental American value: "All men are created equal." Why would we honor someone like this? Our monuments should celebrate those who helped advance the ideals of the Declaration of Independence — not traitors who fought against them. Alabama needs to finally embrace its Civil Rights heritage and honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. He is not only one of the greatest Americans of all-time, but he was an Alabama resident for a number of years and much of his activism took place in Alabama. The Facts About Traitor Jefferson Davis -He was charged with treason and stripped of his U.S. citizenship. -He lead a war to keep 4 million African Americans in slavery that resulted in the deaths of 750,000 Americans. -He was an unrepentant slave owner and racist. After the Civil War he railed against “negro rule.”

The Maryland state song is as bad as the Confederate flag. It calls Abraham Lincoln a tyrant, cheers for the thugs in Baltimore who attacked and killed American soldiers on their way to defend Washington, D.C., and urges Maryland to join Virginia in the Confederate States of America. It is a symbol of treason and support for slavery. It should be eliminated and a contest held to select a new Maryland state song.

This emblem has divided us for far too long. It belongs in the dustbin of history. Mississippians must unite for the betterment of our economy, our schools, our international reputation, and our material and social progress. We should remove the emblem, which was long ago co-opted by the KKK, from official state-issued license tags.

The Confederate flag perpetuates values of and pride in white supremacy and racism. We believe that every person should be able to visit the park without seeing blatant signs of hate.

There have been so many complaints of police brutality and unfair treatment here in Marion, IN. It is time that we as a city come together and ensure that the police be held accountable.

For many Marylanders, the Confederate flag is reasonably and uniquely identified with the history of slavery, white supremacy, and racial violence. In the 20th century, after Brown v. Board of Education was decided, the flag was resurrected as a symbol of Jim Crow segregation and violent opposition to the civil rights movement. Given the Supreme Court's ruling that Confederate flag license plates are government speech, Maryland should not endorse this symbol of hate.

The Confederate Flag represents the false justification for slavery, hatred of African Americans, Latinos, Jews, Asians, and LGBT persons. We do not believe the flag represents the true representation of what Alabama stands for.

With recent events, it is time for all states to stand together in solidarity and begin removing the racist wallpaper that still hangs on government-issued property.

The Confederate flag has rightfully come under scrutiny in the wake of the racially-motivated murder of nine Black community members at a church in Charleston, South Carolina. Recent photos of the murderer showed him posing next to his car with Confederate flag license plates. Tennessee is one of only nine states—including South Carolina—that still permits this hateful symbol on government-issued plates.1 It's time to ban this racist symbol from all government-issued license plates. Tell the Tennessee Legislature: Ban Confederate flag license plates now. 1

Being willfully ignorant on this and to allow the Rebel flag to have place in any state representation is to overtly condone hatred and violence.
