• Tell Gov. McCrory to Stand WITH women, not against them
Sometimes, you have to decide which side you’re on, and now is the time to make your choice: do you stand with women, or stand in the way? Enough is enough. It’s time to make fairness, opportunity and reproductive freedom for women a reality in our country. Through our Stand with Women or Stand in the Way campaign, we are demanding that our elected representatives guarantee equal rights when it comes to fair treatment on the job, health care and having families. It’s a simple choice: Stand with women by taking action to advance fairness, opportunity and freedom… or stand in the way. Which side do you stand on? Take a stand for women in North Carolina by signing our petition against unnecessary regulation of women's rights in our state.

  • Protect Your Financial Freedom
The growing gap between what Americans need for retirement and what they have is in the trillions of dollars. That’s why it’s critically important that those representing different interests have an ample amount of time to submit comments to the Department of Labor on this proposed rule.

  • Tell Gov. Brown and the CA legislature to invest in early education!
Last year, Governor Brown and the California legislature made the historic commitment to fully fund preschool for all low-income 4-year-olds. But so far, we haven't seen this investment included in the proposed budget. Leading economists agree: investments in high-quality early learning programs like preschool actually save future dollars for everyone. In fact, children who have high-quality early learning experiences are more likely to succeed in school, graduate from high school, gain stable employment, and are less likely to be arrested later in life. Studies show that for every dollar invested in high-quality early learning, we see a return of up to $8.00. Please sign on to our message and our open letter below, asking Governor Jerry Brown and our state legislature to make the necessary – and promised! – investments needed to expand early learning opportunities in our state: *********************************************************************** As a California resident, I am asking you to keep your promise to California families and support a budget that invests in the following top priorities: • Preschool for all low-income 4 year olds in California: Fully fund the commitment made in last year's state budget to provide preschool to all low-income 4 year olds in the coming years. • Access to quality infant and toddler care: Address the state's significant need for access, and ensure quality, affordable care and education for our youngest children ages birth to three. • Affordable programs for families: Increase reimbursement rates so that early learning providers can continue to provide quality, affordable services. • Increase quality in all early learning settings: Invest in quality improvement efforts to ensure strong outcomes for young children in all settings. This should include supporting improvements in the way early learning teachers are trained at community colleges and allowing infant and toddler programs to participate in the Quality Rating and Improvement System Block Grant. Study after study has shown that high-quality early learning and care is one of the best investments we can make to impact a child's future and increase economic sustainability for families and communities. The reality is that parents earning minimum wage would need to spend 71% of their salary on full-day infant care, and the costs of quality child care and early learning programs exceed the costs of higher education for many families. And while we have made some progress, we still have work to do to meet the needs of working families, especially those with babies and toddlers. Last year's budget included a $273 million increased investment for early learning and a commitment to provide quality preschool to all low-income 4 year olds in the coming years. The demand for preschool spaces remains more than 8 times the number of spaces available according to the California Department of Education -- that's more than 32,000 low-income 4 year olds that were still not being served in California this year. The Department acknowledges that the need is likely even greater. Leading economists agree, investments in high-quality early learning programs like preschool actually save future dollars for everyone. In fact, children who have high-quality early learning experiences are more likely to succeed in school, graduate from high school, gain stable employment, and are less likely to be arrested later in life. Studies show that for every dollar invested in high-quality early learning, we see a return of up to $8.00. We can, and must do more for our children, and we need you to stand up and make their future a top priority. California cannot wait any longer to expand access to quality childcare and early learning programs. Investing in California's future means investing in our next generation, and the time to do that is now. I respectfully urge you to prioritize access, affordability, and quality investments for our youngest children and their families in this year's state budget. Sincerely,

Move On has not embraced Bernie Sanders for President despite his record of consistently standing up for the middle class. It is time that all organizations that stand up for regular working people - stand behind Bernie Sanders and make sure he gets into the debates and make sure he is elected.

  • Obama & Warren should debate Fast Track & TPP
Massachusetts Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren has warned that passing Fast Track for the proposed Trans-Pacific Partnership trade agreement would cost American jobs and threaten U.S. financial regulations. [1] Doctors Without Borders warns the agreement would delay the availability of affordable drugs. [2] Oxfam warns the agreement would undermine efforts to reduce poverty in developing countries. [3] Human Rights Watch warns that current Fast Track legislation would protect trade with Israeli settlements in the West Bank that violate international law. [4] But President Obama says Senator Warren is “absolutely wrong” in her criticisms, claiming “her arguments don’t stand the test of fact and scrutiny.” [5] Urge President Obama and Senator Warren to agree to a televised debate on these issues that will inform the American people by signing our petition. • Require Oregon corporations to disclose how much they pay in taxes
Nearly 400 corporations — including four dozen with over $1 million in Oregon profits — paid no 2012 state income taxes. But the names of those companies are not public information. Yet. If you think Oregonians ought to know, sign the petition asking the Oregon legislature to require corporations to disclose how much they pay in Oregon income taxes. It's wrong that working families are paying more in income taxes to support our schools, seniors and health care than some large, profitable corporations. Oregon children sit in overcrowded classrooms and tuition at our colleges and universities continues to climb, while some corporations pay little or nothing to support vital public structures. That’s wrong.

  • Stop Monsanto in Oregon
Last year, Jackson County passed a ballot measure banning farmers in the county from growing genetically engineered crops (GMOs). Local farmer Elisa Applegate writes that the purpose of the ban was to "protect our traditional and organically grown crops from contamination by the GMO crops legally patented by Monsanto, Syngenta and the other chemical giants." But, the Oregon State House of Representatives has recently decided to step in and pass HB 3212, which undermines Jackson County's bans on GMOs. This bill is an example of the state legislature kowtowing to corporations like Monsanto and Syngenta who don't like it when municipalities vote to restrict the use of their seeds. But this bill doesn't just impact Jackson County -- it can have ramifications all across the state. It's going to take all of us, speaking out together, to reverse this ban on local communities making decisions about what's best for them. Through signing this petition, you'll be making a statement that Oregon's laws should promote the interest of local farmers, not big agriculture multinationals.

  • Stop fossil fuel and nuclear power energy infrastructure expansion projects
I am deeply concerned about the commitment and collaboration of both major political parties with the fossil fuel and nuclear energy industry. I am tired of the nonsense and how they push their agendas and the blatant disrespect of and disloyalty to public they are hired to protect.

  • Renew New York Funding for On-Site Wind Power
Upstate and Western New York in particular have great wind resources, with many farmers, homeowners, and business owners wanting to invest in small-scale wind energy systems to reduce their electric bills and lower their operating costs. Continued state support for wind turbines producing power for on-site use is in the best interests of New York ratepayers in order to sustain a thriving local market for clean energy. The current New York on-site wind incentive, the leading program in the nation helping the distributed wind market turn the corner with rapid uptake, sunsets at the end of 2015. As part of New York's Reforming the Energy Vision (REV) process, NYSERDA is reorienting its funding programs and looking to pool funds to foster replication. Many of the REV initiatives – such as community net metering, community choice aggregation, valuing distributed generation in new utility tariffs, and demonstration projects – could provide new exciting opportunities for the distributed wind industry in New York. However, an immediate transition into a new funding model with unique program mechanics may cripple an industry that has begun to grow exponentially over the past two years, and particularly over the past 6 months. Five years from now, with the REV changes in place, NYSERDA will be in a better position to craft a technology-neutral program for the non-solar DG programs, and the New York distributed wind industry will have gained meaningful economies of scale and cost reductions and be in a position to exist in a post-subsidy world. Please add your name to support recommendations of the Alliance for Clean Energy NY and Distributed Wind Energy Association that NYSERDA renew funding to extend tailored incentives and customized support for on-site wind projects for an additional 5 years. Note: If appropriate, please include your company name in the petition sign-on's comment field.
