• End Child Protection Services
It is about a lack of due process that cruelly and unusually punishes children and families who have committed no crime. My own perfect son, Wayne Robert Wagatsuma was one of the 1,000 children killed in CPS service plans in 1988. I was forced to take my four year old son to a babysitter, by CPS, and he drowned on the first day of the forced activity.

  • Ban the Use of Herbicides Along Public Roads.
This is just a short list of some of the reasons why Nevada county should take a step to better our community, like other CA counties have done: steep areas along the road are constantly eroding due lack of vegetation and root systems; mud washes into the roads and clogs drains, creating flooding in the road; mud and herbicides wash into our waterways polluting streams and rivers, hurting our fish population; areas are being sprayed that are mowed by locals, which is a waste of tax dollars and an unnecessary eye-sore; herbicides have known cancer-causing ingredients that can be inhaled by pregnant women and children passing by, and have been known to leach into well water.

  • Help stop developers from spoiling our neighborhood! Fix the plan for 1500 San Pablo.
The City of Berkeley is now considering a proposal for a HUGE five story development between San Pablo Ave and 10th St and Cedar St and Jones St. The developer wants to build 170 units and has asked for numerous exemptions to the Berkeley zoning code. As proposed, the project would significantly alter and degrade the character of our neighborhood. Please make your voice heard on this important issue!

  • Save West Roxbury Academy
Boston Public Schools Interim SuperIntendent proposed to closed West Roxbury Academy without due process and proper justification for closure. This negatively impacts students in many ways. Many of the students have already been displaced more than once. Additionally, students were told that they would have free choice of any Boston Public School, yet are not being given options that are equal or better than their current schools. The proposed savings is only $2.2 million in a $1 billion budget--the harm greatly outweighs the savings. Lastly, this does not just impact the schools being closed, it will have a ripple effect of instability across the district and the city of Boston. Help us speak out about this injustice. At least present us with a plan of action, instead of taking actions without a plan or a Boston School Committee vote.

  • Impeach the 47 members of Congress who wrote and delivered the letter to Iran.
The President of the United States has the sole authority to negotiate agreements and treaties with foreign nations. In UNITED STATES v. CURTISS-WRIGHT EXPORT CORPORATION, 299 U.S. 304 (1936), Justice Sutherland, writing for the Court, observed, "[T]he President alone has the power to speak or listen as a representative of the nation. He makes treaties with the advice and consent of the Senate; but he alone negotiates. Into the field of negotiation the Senate cannot intrude; and Congress itself is powerless to invade it. If the Monica Lewinsky scandal falls under the umbrella of "high crimes and misdemeanors" the actions of these 47 members of Congress certainly do.

  • Sen. Toomey: Try saying No to Wall Street for a change
Congress is poised to give another gift to Wall Street lobbyists and I need your help to stop it. A set of lobbyists are pushing to roll back the Wall Street reforms we helped put in place after the 2008 financial crisis. They're hoping we've all forgotten the damage they wrecked on the economy. And instead of standing up these attacks, Sen. Toomey has repeatedly sided with Wall Street lobbyists. He sided with the Wall Street lobbyist by voting to block all nominees to head the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, one of the chief protections under Wall Street reform. He also backed a move to require that financial regulations be required to calculate how much they cost big banks, to try and undermine reform. [1] As a former Wall Street banker, Toomey worked to promote some of the same gimmicks that fueled the 2008 financial crisis. In fact, he thinks getting rid of Wall Street reform is critical to helping the economy, saying "The trend in deregulation...is one of the biggest reasons for the sustained economic expansion." [2] Meanwhile, the senator has been given $1,544,899 since 2013 in campaign contributions from banks, despite the fact that he isn't up for re-election until 2016. [3] If we want to push back, we need to make sure Sen. Toomey hears from us, not just from the Wall Street lobbyists. 1. • Invest NOW in Iowa's Future: Our Students
Historically, Iowa’s leaders have placed high priority on educating our children. The funding increases from year to year of greater than 10% allowed Iowa students to thrive, and our state to proudly claim the top spot for quality of education. However, today Iowa ranks 35th in the nation in terms of funding per pupil. Unfortunately, there are members in both our state government and state Legislature who believe the 35th spot is satisfactory, and they stubbornly stand by the proposed 1.25% increase in per pupil spending for the upcoming school year. This meager increase is well below general inflation, and will not even allow Iowa districts to provide education at the same level they are at this year, let alone permit schools to make the necessary annual investment needed to bring the quality of education in Iowa to back near the top. There is no better investment than in the young minds of our future leaders.
