Allied Waste Services of North America. LLC, d/b/a Republic Services of West Virginia has filed a proposed rate increase of 44% with the Public Service Commission. This proposed increase comes on the tail of a huge decline in service and what appears to be a lack of interest by Republic agents to complaints of trash not being picked up for weeks at a time and requests for refunds due to lack of service. Along with the current recycling services need and desire by a vast number of WV residents, we request that a more modest increase of 15% be instated and residential and business single-stream recycling included in the weekly pickup services.

A new Senate bill was introduced that would not only fail to protect us from dangerous chemicals but also restrain state governments from taking action. Together, we can fight back against business as usual. We must reject the chemical industry’s reprehensible approach and strengthen protections against toxic chemicals. Chemical companies have spent millions lobbying for a free pass to continue putting Americans at risk from chemicals like flame retardants, formaldehyde in flooring, asbestos in dozens of products, and thousands of other chemicals that contaminate our air, water, food, and everyday products. We need you to voice your opposition now to a proposed chemical policy bill introduced by Senators David Vitter and Tom Udall that would leave dangerous holes in our toxic chemical laws.

A lease agreement is proposed between Verizon Wireless and Big Bear City Community Services District, (BBCCSD), to erect the tower on public land adjacent to our residential neighborhood. We believe the installation of the cell tower is inconsistent with the rural character of the surrounding neighborhood. Cell phone towers expose the public to involuntary, chronic, cumulative Radio Frequency Radiation (RFR). These towers emit radio frequencies (RF), a form of electromagnetic radiation (EMR), for a distance of up to 2 ½ miles. Studies have shown that even at low levels of this radiation, there is evidence of damage to cell tissue and DNA, and it has been linked to brain tumors, cancer, suppressed immune function, depression, miscarriage, Alzheimer’s disease, and numerous other serious illnesses. At increased risk are children, pregnant women and the elderly. Wildlife, pets and livestock are also at risk from RF and EMF radiation.

In February 2015, a pediatrician at Eastlake Pediatrics in Roseville, MI refused to treat an infant so as to uphold the religious right to discriminate against the infant’s lesbian mothers. The following month, Senator Rick Jones provided an example of how the proposed MI-RFRA bill could potentially be used to allow a baker to legally refuse service to a patron who requests a religious themed cake that offends the baker's personal belief system. Patrons do not deserve to endure the distress, humiliation and inconvenience associated with being refused service by a public business in their communities. Instead, business owners should assume the responsibility of communicating their biases publicly. It's clear that the Michigan legislature wants to permit businesses to legally sidestep civil rights protections under the guise of "Religious Liberty." If an individual or business can refuse to recognize a person's civil rights on the pretext of religious belief, those rights become effectively meaningless. Let's call it for what it really is, and require businesses who serve the public to specify who they discriminate against.

This petition is in response to Ice Time sports acceptance of Coach Todd Mancuso's resignation. Coach Todd has been instrumental in the development of our children! He has taught them skills they will take with them through their entire life. He is an asset to the Ice Time organization and we feel that accepting his resignation is a huge mistake. Please sign this petition and let the management of Ice Time Sports know you support and value Coach Todd and the active role he plays in the development of your child.
