STOP ANIMAL ABUSE!!!I believe animals shouldn't be mistreated. In my opinion, i believe that animals are emotionally the same as us humans. So why abuse them? Abusing them is like abusing a baby.32 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Esmil Ortiz

Child AbuseI also have a child and I don't want any child to get hurt by his or her parents. Having a baby is not easy, but hurting one is easy. However, it hurts the child very much.17 of 100 SignaturesCreated by ozoda rasulova

Save 3,342 Families from Medicaid cuts!Help us SAVE 3,342 NC FAMILIES! A proposed Medicaid budget cut will force people with disabilities to enter institutions rather than receive health care at home. It will force working families to lose their jobs so they can stay home to take care of their loved ones, and no doubt costly hospitalizations will increase. These cuts make life more difficult, if not impossible, for thousands of NC families in great need.555 of 600 SignaturesCreated by Concerned Citizens

Justice for Carmen ChavezThe current legal system does not adequately protect the elderly, or anyone who is not working or is not wealthy, because the New Jersey courts assign a low economic value to their lives. Attorneys are reluctant to take on Elder abuse cases because even if they win they might get little compensation. This is especially true if the person incurred Medicare or Medicaid costs because they have to be paid back before any award is distributed to the plaintiff or their attorney. The Justice for Carmen Foundation was established to redress this injustice. Please read about what happened to Carmen at www.justiceforcarmenlachavez.org. With your help we can make sure that our loved ones will not suffer like Carmen and so many other people have.80 of 100 SignaturesCreated by William Menzel

Support CDC Research on Gun Violence PreventionGun violence is a major public health issue. In the wake of shooting after shooting, we've got to figure out the root causes and how to prevent the next tragedy before it happens. Did you know that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention used to research gun violence in the 80s and 90s, but the NRA bullied Congress into banning it nearly two decades ago? After the Sandy Hook tragedy, President Obama ordered the CDC to get back to studying “the causes of gun violence” but the CDC still avoids it. We have a chance to do something about this, and potentially save lives. In the hours before the latest San Bernardino shooting, doctors urged Congress to lift the funding ban. New legislation introduced back in June in the House and Senate would restore funding for gun violence prevention and gun safety research by the CDC. But it won't get passed unless we pressure Congress to stand up to the NRA and do the right thing for us, their constituents. Save ECSU #saveecsuState Senate Bill 744 [pg. 65] includes a two-line provision to “study the feasibility of dissolving any constituent institution whose fall full-time equivalent student enrollment declined by more than twenty percent (20%) between the 2010-2011 fiscal year and the 2013-2014 fiscal year and shall develop a plan for its dissolution. The Board of Governors shall report its findings and recommendations, including the plan for dissolution, to the 2015 General Assembly.” According to the University of North Carolina, the only constituent institution that meets this criterion is Elizabeth City State University. Elizabeth City State University is a historically African-American institution, or HBCU, that serves a 21-county service area in northeastern North Carolina, the most impoverished region of the state. Washington Monthly ranks ECSU #1, in large part, because of the social mobility that it encourages. According to Atlantic Monthly, "students [at ECSU] graduate at about twice the rate statistical models would predict, given the demographic the university serves." ECSU is the third-largest employer in the region and an engine of economic growth ($118 million in output sales, $83 million in value added, and $59 million in labor income). North Carolina needs ECSU.9,830 of 10,000 SignaturesCreated by P.W. Moore

Pause PARCC (Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Career) in Uxbridge, Massach...The Uxbridge Community has not had the chance to thoroughly discuss the new online high-stakes test called PARCC (Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Career) as a replacement for MCAS (Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System) and what it will mean for our kids, teachers, and K-12 schools.68 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Susanne Panciocco

PA Governor Corbett, Take the Medicaid FundsOur very unpopular governor is holding hostage thousands of PA poor by not accepting Medicaid funds under the ACA. He is waiting for his plan to be approved by the ACA. His plan: a work requirement for recipients and funneling the funds to private health insurance companies to cover fewer of the poor in the coverage gap. I hope the ACA doesn't approve his plan. We need these funds to create more jobs in PA, and to keep many of our rural small hospitals open, and most important, to allow thousands of poor PA citizens to access healthcare.5,514 of 6,000 SignaturesCreated by Janet Landon

Tracking Device in Guns! #notonemoreI go to UCSB, where 6 students were murdered by a man with registered weapons. If the government can track guns, they may be able to put a stop to school shootings, among other crimes and tragedies. No one should have the right to secretly go into any area and kill random people. #notonemore #weallhaverights #guntracking . Lastly, the government does not have to control the site, it could be controlled by the people who make the guns.12 of 100 SignaturesCreated by isaiah Polstra
