Manna Café Ministries provides food to those who need it, and have helped many with their emergency warming shelters, but the hope they provide is what is needed above all else. We, the citizens of this beautiful city, ask that you vote to support the zoning variance that will allow Manna Café Ministries to open their homeless shelter. Right now huge corporations, like Wal-Mart, are getting tax breaks for handing out obscene CEO bonuses. The tax code sets a $1 million limit per executive for the amount of pay that corporations can write off their income taxes. But the problem is that there’s a loophole that exempts “performance-based” pay. So, corporations are shelling out huge CEO bonuses to pay less in taxes. For example, during the past six years, Wal-Mart pocketed $298.6 million in fully deductible “performance pay,” lowering the company’s federal tax bills by $104 million. At a time when so many Americans are struggling to find well-paying jobs and pay for basic things like healthcare, education, and housing, it’s wrong and unacceptable to give corporations tax breaks for shelling out multi-million dollar CEO bonuses. It’s time to close this performance pay loophole and end tax incentives for outrageous CEO pay.

I have seen the devastating effect of LCFF flexibility on ROCP funding firsthand here in Orange County as well as in Los Angeles County. I work with CTE credentialed teachers who are unable to find teaching jobs because programs are being cut from high schools. I see students having fewer CTE elective options every year. Please help!

The recent expansions are still paltry compared to the elephants' actual needs. The herd patriarch, Packy, is dying slowly in secret, locked away from public view. They suffer from an intense and forced breeding program. Please help stop the abuse and let these elephants live in peace and retirement from this cruelty and exposition.
