To Serve and Protect Our CommunitiesMy husband and I were victimized last year at our home. My neighbors called the police 4 different times and they never came. Even after my neighbors mentioned hearing gun shots, glass breaking and home alarm going off the police still didn't come. After my husband and I were robbed and almost gunned down in our driveway myself and a different neighbor called the police. The police came after the fact. Now my husband is is paralyzed from the waist down. If the police would have responsed to the first call the crime would have been prevented and my husband wouldn't be paralyzed. And the criminals would have been caught. The evidence was not properly collected due to the lack of not caring or doing their job to protect and serve.28 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Mrs. Williams

Restoring Access to Parent LoansDear Secretary Duncan One of the most viable tools to fund post graduate education, the Parent Loan is currently encumbered by a new set of guide lines which has prevented 16% of low income students the ability to either embark on or continue their education. The former president of Bennett College Dr. Julianne Malveaux and the United Negro College Fund have indicated that if the present guidelines remain in place the number of students negatively impacted will continue to rise. Under the guise of reducing student loan default the eligibility rules for Parent Loans were tighten and under the revised 2014-15 rules any parent who has had one delinquency within the past twelve months will not qualify for the loan. The data indicates that parent loans have the lowest default rate of any education funding product currently available therefore tightening the eligibility rules was completed unnecessary. Please set your administrative prowess in action and restore the former guidelines and ensure that this decline in ability to pursue a post graduate education does not continue into the 2014-2015 academic year and ensure that restricting access will not continue to contribute to generational poverty. Your prompt and affirmative response would be greatly appreciated. Sincerely yours,1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Charlot

Vermont Calls for Convention to Overturn Citizens United!Vermont's amazing victory will only have meaning if we can keep the ball rolling in the next states — but if we can, we can save the electoral process and bring back the days of free, equal votes!96 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Demand Progress

The Right To Vote Is YoursVoting Rights is a core value when we talk about Democracy. Without maintaining -- and protecting -- the "one person - one vote" for all citizens, we dilute that right, and render the process illegitimate and verging on being without merit.59 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Michael Fish

Let's Get Power Plants to Cut Carbon Emissions! It's a bold move from a president who's been promising environmentalist reform without really delivering. It's also exactly what our country, and our planet, needs to battle climate change and survive the coming centuries — so of course, Republicans and the fossil fuel industry hate it.28 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Demand Progress

Tell the Senate: Let people refinance their student loans!Student loan debt is crushing young people. Total debt is now $1.2 trillion, more than all outstanding credit card debt in America. The overwhelming burden of student debt keeps young people from buying homes, buying cars, starting small businesses, saving for retirement, and making purchases that strengthen our economy. Last year, Republicans and Democrats came together to lower the interest rates on new undergraduate loans to 3.8%. But nothing was done for the millions of people who have older student loans at 6%, 8%, 10%, and even higher interest rates. They were just stuck paying -- and paying and paying. The Bank on Students Emergency Loan Refinancing Act lets people refinance older student loans down to those lower interest rates that new students receive. It would put hundreds, even thousands, of dollars back into the pockets of people struggling with their student loan debt. The sooner we pass this bill, the sooner people will get a little bit of relief.165,997 of 200,000 SignaturesCreated by Elizabeth Warren, U.S. Senator

Free ReggieHe admits his guilt. He paid for his crime. He robbed a convenience store of about $80. No violence was used, no weapons were displayed, no threats were made. He was imprisoned for Thirty Years in Oklahoma. He has written books helping others avoid his mistakes. He has always been a model prisoner. Reggie Brazell molders in prison waiting for true justice, not 30 years for an $80 no-violent crime. The Governor of Oklahoma could commute his sentence, but is not commuting any sentences, period. Let's petition the great State of Oklahoma to release this well-educated man who is passionate about helping others. It's far past time.185 of 200 SignaturesCreated by David Mitchell
