Rainier National Park puts huge efforts into the Paradise side of the Park benefitting the small towns along the way while our Sunrise side is low on the priority list. Help us send a message to the Park that Enumclaw and Sunrise matter. Lost visitor traffic through our community irreparably damages our small hometown economy. The National Park service calls Enumclaw a "Gateway Community." The roads are nearly cleared and plowed. The gates should open. The Park website currently shows a planned opening date for Sunrise of July 3rd. Paradise, and the Paradise area is kept open year-round with plans to open a second road - Paradise Valley on June 20th. The lack of an earlier opening date unfairly hurts businesses in Enumclaw, Greenwater and Crystal Mountain - sending Mt. Rainier traffic through Ashford to the other side of the Park. We are asking for the road to open by next weekend, June 20, if not sooner.

Wife spent 8 days in Acute Neurological Center for severe seizures caused all this stress. If they do steal our home, we stand to lose $40,000 in down payment and buy-down - ALL our lifetime savings. this petition is my last attempt at seeking justice for a TERRIBLE crime that should be its own movie.. to show people what can happen because of these insurance laws. did you know I had to go against my own insurance company because this man didn't have insurance and I didn't even get the full policy amount.. back then I did not have a lawyer because I could not find one that was able to help me.. I have been through 3 different lawyers on this.. me being an extremely poor person- don't have too many choices.. and the system for food stamps Medicaid all that... well let's just say I finally got home care and Medicaid in 2013 when I applied in 2011. I applied when I had no income. for the first time in my life 15 months following this accident I had no income despite my three different types of insurance policies I carried to cover my ass.. I had to max out my credit and borrow money from my poor parents to live. now my credit is also gone though I have spent 30 years making it nearly perfect.. I live in a garage that is not suited for a disabled person I have two dogs that I cannot walk any longer, luckily my friend helps me.. if I didn't have one good friends through this I would already be in a nursing home at 35 years old after working my butt off my whole life many years I had three different jobs just to make ends meet. I was awarded Social Security disability income after 9 months, which is rare at my age. that right there should tell anyone reading this the severity of the injuries I was left with... as the government does not approve disability for people quickly or very easily however in my case they did and thank God cause I had no income until they did.. and believe me I paid for this and come I worked as much in my life as my dad did even though there is a 30-year span between our ages we both worked the same amount of hours because I was a single woman and we grew up in different time eras. as well as with the new Obamacare plans I have now lost all my health care because I have Medicaid my PCT of 30 years will not take my insurance my pain doctor will not take my insurance nobody that I know will take my insurance I have a blood clot sitting on my head for me in recent head injury or so and I'm no doctor to go to to get it checked out.. also people can go by insurance and they get a card that says they're covered for 6 months after they pay one month because of this, this man got away with what he did to me!!!

Governor Bobby Jindal recently signed an executive order declaring a "religious freedom" act that allows businesses to discriminate against people on the basis of religious beliefs only hours after the Louisiana legislature shot down a bill that attempted to do the same thing, House Bill 707. The act particularly targets the LGBT community in the state of Louisiana and is a veiled attempt to allow open bigotry in the state. Jindal also passed a legislative bill which prevents Louisiana public entities from suing oil and gas companies. He has sold out his own state for personal interests. While this petition is mostly symbolic, please sign in order to send a clear message to Governor Jindal that this state will not be held hostage for his political grandstanding and personal ambitions.

Solar energy is clean energy that helps reduce air pollution, saves ratepayers money because there is less wear and tear on the grid so less need for infrastructure upgrades, and is one solution to help mitigate the catastrophic impacts of climate change. Solar energy should be promoted and celebrated, not burdened with unnecessary fees.

Tim DeChristopher spent almost two years in prison for an act of civil disobedience when he peacefully disrupted a BLM oil and gas lease auction in Salt Lake City. The BLM aggressively pursued charges against DeChristopher. He broke the law and went to prison for it. Earlier this month, a group of protesters led by San Juan County Commissioner Phil Lyman, and including Cliven Bundy's son, illegally rode ATVs through a protected section of Recapture Canyon near Blanding, Utah. The canyon is protected because it houses significant ecological and archaeological sites. Indeed, local Native American tribes consider the land sacred. Yet Lyman and his band ignored pleas by local tribes and BLM officials and instead rode motorized vehicles over the protected land, calling it an act of civil disobedience. Lyman and his band broke the law. They should be held accountable. Tell US Attorney David Barlow and Utah BLM Director Juan Palma to hold the protesters and armed militia accountable for riding their ATVs through Recapture Canyon and breaking the law.

We, the undersigned, being people of conscience, call upon the McCrory Administration and the North Carolina General Assembly to recognize their moral obligation to assure that Duke Energy shareholders, not the people of North Carolina, pay to clean up all the toxic coal ash dumps. Additionally, decisions must be made in consultation with the communities currently and potentially impacted by the toxic waste, with particular concern to protect communities of color and low-income communities that have historically been targeted for the storage of hazardous waste.
