    When music lovers don't pay for their songs or albums, the money that would be going to the businesses and artists never makes it to them. 1 in 3 of us are guilty of music piracy, and ultimately, the industry takes a 12 billion dollar hit annually because of us.

  • Salary increases
    I feel that the people are being completely denied in the fact that the members of the house and Senate are allowed to vote their own pay raises. This is not a the way a business, whether it be industry or politics, should be allowed to operate. The preamble to the Constitution states that "We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America". Nowhere in the Constitution does it give the Senate and House the right to vote on their own pay raises. This practice needs to stop.

  • Prosecutor Tries to Use Mentally Ill as a Snitch
    My daughter, Autumn Keckhaver, was targeted by a snitch and busted for a small amount of meth. No weapons, no money, just an addict. She is now facing ten years in prison or has the option of becoming a snitch. Tell Judge Sims being a snitch is a dangerous option to incarceration especially for a young, beautiful woman who has the mentality of a 15 year old. Drug court would be a better option for her.

  • Inadequate Actions in The Courts!!!
    My name Is Richard Dyson, I am a mentally disabled that has been denied medical treatment in a emergency room hospital. I almost died from having pneumonia, I was in the hospital for nine days. approximately a year later I had symptoms of pneumonia again and went to the same original admitting hospital again and saw the same doctor, I was hurting so bad the pain was intolerable and when the doctor asked about what symptoms I was having I accidently said 'hell' in describing my symptoms, # the head injury I received which was the basis of my disability/social security that the hospital is well aware of and affected my speech and cognitive centers of the brain#... and the doctor said 'if you swear one more time I will have escorted out of the hospital' I was so scared I just sat there thinking what to say, how to put it and next thing I know is dr. Gibson saying 'that's it you're out of here!!' and I was escorted out of the hospital by armed guards. I went Multi Care and was diagnosed with having pneumonia and treated for several hours by good well meaning staff. I had a terrible attorney that would lie to me all the time during the lawsuit that was filed against the doctor and hospital and when confronted with the lies the attorney was telling me...the attorney quit. The doctor has said in his answer to the lawsuit that 'Richard Dyson left on his own accord'. That is a absolute lie!!! Being on my own I've been able to get the transcript from Multi Care which proves I had pneumonia. The court has me slated to go to trial on June 16th, 2014. I have a Charity and I have been trying to get a for fee attorney and/or pro-bono attorney to no success...please help because I refuse to this Doctor get away with this criminal action.   • Demand for Full Fracking Chemical Disclosure
    There are cases across the United States of chemicals used by the natural gas industry during fracking being found in drinking water sources. Many of the chemicals the industry uses are highly toxic and exposure is linked to illnesses including cancer, kidney failure, and fertility problems. During the Bush Administration, fracking was exempted from regulation under the Safe Drinking Water Act, making the chemicals used proprietary information. The public has a right to know all the chemicals used in fracking fluids. The Federal government needs to play a greater role in protecting our health, safety, and environment. The EPA wants to develop a federal chemical disclosure policy under the Toxic Substance and Control Act and is currently seeking comment to help shape this policy. It is important that they conduct public hearings in impacted states during this process so they can hear directly from the public.

  • Stevens Johnson Syndrome Awareness month
    I was taking Bactrim DS in March of 2003 for a urinary tract infection. I was told when taking an antibiotic you have to complete its course. After taking the med for 3 or 4 days I had begun to think I was feeling better. But little did I know I was getting worse day by day. On day four or five I went to work. I was working as a dietary aide at Epworth Villa. I was fatigued and very lethargic. The nurses there checked my temperature and it was 104 degrees. I was taken immediately to my primary care physician. I was told to go directly to Edmond Medical Center E.R. for evaluation and treatment. As I was admitted to the hospital and asked thousands of questions; my skin began blistering literally within minutes of being there. I began to have blisters on my face, neck, back, arms and chest. Once the blisters appeared, my skin began to darken. I looked exactly like burn patients who have been in a house fire. I stayed in Edmond Medical Center for a day or two. Many tests were run. Different specialists were contacted to see if anyone had an explanation on what was happening. It seemed like an eternity that I was laid up burning from the inside out. Doctors soon learned that I had a rare disease known as The Stevens Johnson Syndrome. It is a major allergic reaction to sulfa. It literally burned me from the inside out. At some point I was transferred to Baptist Burn Unit. I was treated exactly like a burn patient. The blisters that had formed all over my body could not be seen now, due to my skin turning black. I was “classified” with third degree burns over 50% of my body. Slowly my skin started to slough or just fall off. I remember my bath days which were agonizing, dreadful and most of all painful. It felt like I was getting bathed with a cheese shredder. Each wipe with the sponge hurt more than the first. I can remember yelling and screaming for dear life during baths like it was yesterday. My skin was burned; gone. After each bath I was wrapped like a mummy in silvadene and rolls of kerlix in order to keep infection down. At this time my eyes were sealed closed. There was a decrease in my mucous membrane production. I couldn’t see for over three weeks. My eyes were sealed closed. Could you imagine being 19 and blind? Many people take their eyesight for granted. What I’ve learned is that a person’s perceptions of how things are in life are totally different when you can’t see. As a result of the decrease in tear production, I had dry eyes and a damaged cornea. I have used eye drops at least twenty times a day, otherwise my eyes will feel like sandpaper. I feel some discomfort in my eyes at all times. I also blink like twenty times more than the average person. I can’t go to the movies or focus on things for a long time either. I often experience blurry vision and pain in my left eye. Due to the blisters and burns in my mouth I couldn’t eat or swallow. I had to have a peg tube placed in order to obtain adequate nutrition. At the age of 19 having a peg tube was “not cool.” For three months the peg tube was my main source for food and water. I had it removed on my twentieth birthday. The Stevens Johnson Syndrome is not a rare disease. Many people do die from this. Doctors informed my mother to prepare for the worse, which is a patient’s worst nightmare. Through the grace of God I’m here to tell my story. My purpose of writing this letter to Governor Mary Fallin is to send awareness about SJS/TEN. I would like to declare August as SJS awareness month. Please take the time to consider. SJS Survivor

  • American Girl: Support Girls with Scoliosis
    Having scoliosis myself, I would have been more comfortable and accepting of my condition as a young girl had I had a doll with an accessory similar to my back brace. The American Girl Dolls serve to bring security, play, and happiness to girls. American Girl will continue to alienate the 10 percent of girls in the United States suffering from scoliosis until a back brace accessory is manufactured for the dolls.

    As New York City public school students, we applaud Comptroller Stringer and Mayor de Blasio for recognizing the power of arts education to improve academic outcomes, especially for young people who live and go to school in the Bronx, Brooklyn and Upper Manhattan. As leaders in our community, youth in arts education, future voters and future members of the city’s workforce, we urge the de Blasio administration, Comptroller Stringer, Carmen Fariña, the City Council and other city leaders to create a youth board to ensure the $20 million arts education funds are distributed to the schools and programs in communities that need and demand arts education. As youth leaders, we want to ensure our city leaders make good on the promise and ensure that all New York City public school students receive the comprehensive and state-mandated arts education they deserve regardless of who they are, or where they live.

    As a long time California taxpayer, I am appalled at the high number of foreign students and out of state students are accepted by UC SD, UCBerkely, UCI, UCD, etc, compared to the low number of qualified California applicants accepted. Hghly qualified children of friends, colleagues and my extended family, all long time California taxpayers have been rejected from these schools at great numbers. This is unfair.
