Let's Give Every Kid in Oakland a Strong Start!Mayor Quan has a chance to help kids in Oakland, and across the whole country. Later this month, the Council of Mayors will consider resolutions in support of expanding quality early education to every child in America. Kids who attend preschool not only do better in school as they grow older -- they're also more likely to go to college and get a good job. But for many families, a quality preschool program is simply too expensive or not available. Last year a bipartisan bill was introduced in Congress that would help every child get access to quality preschool. We need more support from the local level to push this measure forward. Support from Mayor Quan and her colleagues is the kind of local support that we will need to win. What we need to do right now is to demonstrate widespread support from people like you.150 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Jason Pfeifle

Do NOT Cut State Funding to PA’s Public Schools in the 2014-2015 BudgetSince 2010, inadequate levels of state funding have forced the Shippensburg Area School District (SASD) to repeatedly raise property taxes and eliminate 65 full-time teaching and support staff positions. SASD has eliminated the middle school shop and family and consumer science programs, many kindergartners sit in classrooms crowded with 26 students, young children who struggle to read have lost their reading teachers, and many class sizes are have increased to levels where effective teaching and learning are becoming a serious challenge. Our community and our children cannot afford another year of inadequate state funding to our schools. Our quality of life and the future of our children are dependent on the legislature’s ability to do the difficult work of governing and adopting a responsible budget that meets the needs of our communities.16 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Susan Spicka

It's time for action on gun safety in OregonGun violence is a recurring tragedy in Oregon with a person dying from a gunshot almost every day. Horrific shootings like those at Reynolds High School and Clackamas Town Center focus our attention on this public health crisis and the need for our leaders to take action. It is time for the Oregon Legislature to act to reduce gun violence. In both 2013 and 2014, the Legislature declined to bring gun violence legislation to the floor for a vote. Although no single law will end gun violence, there are simple, proven steps to reduce violence – like requiring a background check every time someone buys a gun. We, the people of Oregon, demand that our leaders take action to address gun violence. It is a preventable tragedy and the time for excuses is over. We call on our legislators to act, and to commit themselves to action today. We will be watching.3,975 of 4,000 SignaturesCreated by BlueOregon Action

FERC: Stop a fracked gas disaster on the Chesapeake! The Obama administration is on the verge of approving a major fracked gas disaster -- and we need your voice now to stop it. The gas industry wants to build a massive export terminal at Cove Point, on the Chesapeake Bay in southern Maryland, that would take gas from fracking wells across Appalachia, liquefy it and ship it to Asia. This plan would trigger a huge expansion of toxic fracking. The process of exporting fracked and liquefied natural gas is so dirty that it pollutes the climate as much as burning coal! Yet, on May 15, President Obama's Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) released a draft Environmental Assessment for the Cove Point project that sweeps all major dangers under the rug. In other words, FERC is paving the way for the gas industry to make bigger profits -- instead of protecting our health, safety and climate. Now it's our turn to speak out. FERC is accepting public input on its draft environmental review until Monday, June 16th. From increased fracking and pipelines, to worsening climate pollution and safety risks to nearby Maryland residents, we know a massive fracked gas export facility on the Chesapeake Bay is NOT in the public interest. Join with activists across the nation saying “no” to fracked gas exports, and submit your comment today!70 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Kelly Trout

Require that all data brokers be accountable and transparent. These lists such as "White Pages" or "Intellius" contain information which allows criminals to gather personal information. This is a dire and immediate threat to our privacy and safety. Data brokers should provide a means for people to remove or correct their listing. I have had numerous experiences, as many people have, of scam artists getting access to my personal information and attempting to involve us in various criminal actions. Senator Rockefeller created Senate Bill 2025 "Data Broker and Transparency Act" which now sits in committee. The House of Representatives should enact a similar bill, perhaps making it stronger, and requiring that data brokers obtain our permission to list our data. This is, after all, our personal information.18 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Clive Beasley

Protect Florida Panthers from the Oil IndustryAs a born-and-raised Florida resident, I have not once been able to see a Florida panther in the wild, nor have I ever heard their population numbers were not in jeopardy. After looking more into this I found that the leading cause of panther deaths in Florida is being struck by vehicles. This fact alone is heartbreaking, but the proposed oil drill waste disposal well would bring with it hundreds of truck trips that could harass or kill endangered Florida panthers, pushing them even closer to the brink of extinction. We should not entertain any plan that might bring new toxic threats to these already beleaguered cats or the habitat they need to survive. The EPA can still intervene to stop the oil waste injection well and save Florida panthers, but it won't do so unless there's a massive public outcry.14,620 of 15,000 SignaturesCreated by Ashley Banta

Save 100 Affordable Student Housing Units in Pasadena"As a former student at Fuller Seminary, I know how hard it is to find housing that's affordable. Now that I live in a low-income area of Pasadena, I witness the challenges that many here face to afford to remain here when they are being squeezed out by the rising cost of housing. 23,000 household in Pasadena are in need of affordable housing. Students will be competing with those long term residents who grew up in Pasadena and are being priced out and displaced, for the same precious few affordable units that exist. Please sign this petition and attend the Pasadena City Council meeting when this will be address, likely on June 23rd, at 7 pm. The Council Chambers are located at the southeast corner of the second floor of the City Hall. Contact me confirm the date: [email protected]15 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Jill Shook

Demand action against oil companies raising prices and over charging Americans for gas.I find it appalling that we as tax payers subsidize an industry that can arbitrarily hike up prices. Either force them to pay taxes industry wide or pay huge fines equal to the amount of money they avoid paying in taxes annually. Lower gas prices and prevent them from raising prices as long as they benefit for tax loop holes and subsidies.118 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Rae Dawn Dawn Chong
