  • PROHIBITION OF GOVERNMENT REVENUE (TAXES) EXPENDITURE FOR PERFORMANCE BASED BONUSES.
Basic Premise (edited 05/31/2014): Any person employed directly by the state or federal government - or - any person employed by an agency or bureau which can be construed to be part of the state or federal government (i.e. IRS) should be prohibited from receiving any additional compensation above their hourly or salaried wage if such payments are derived from tax dollars, fines, fees or levies of any kind. Such person would be defined as persons employed by Federal , state or local governments and their appointed agencies which take its direction directly from the Federal Government, including all departments and their subsidiary offices subject to direction by the Executive Office of the President, Department of Homeland Security, Department of Housing and Urban Development, Department of the Interior, Department of Justice, Department of Labor (Including federal and state OSHA), State Department, Department of Transportation, Department of the Treasury and Department of Veterans Affairs. In light of the fact that current and past poor performance by certain agencies have failed to provide the services paid for by the tax paying citizens of the U.S (i.e. Veterans Affairs and Internal Revenue Service), it is clear that such practices do not provide added value to our tax dollar and in fact contribute to an environment of corruption. Service to the nation and it's citizens is a honor and privilege and in consideration of that, the government is not obligated to be an employer but rather a limited service provider as defined in the U.S. Constitution and a frugal steward of the peoples monies. Further, persons accepting positions working for the government do so with full recognition that the compensation for their efforts are directly derived from the revenue created from taxes of an already strained budget, it is unreasonable that such persons should be paid bonuses above and beyond their hourly or salaried wage, particularly when such employing agencies often create additional cost to the common citizen through fees, permits, levies and where poor performance causes a burden to those citizen who have paid for said services.

  • The Dream Act
This is about the Dream Act. It is an act that will help undocumented students be eligible for federal economic aid. For example, because of this issue a lot of my friends couldn't get into college and they dropped out because they couldn't afford a large amount of money.

I believe animals shouldn't be mistreated. In my opinion, i believe that animals are emotionally the same as us humans. So why abuse them? Abusing them is like abusing a baby.

  • Save 3,342 Families from Medicaid cuts!
Help us SAVE 3,342 NC FAMILIES! A proposed Medicaid budget cut will force people with disabilities to enter institutions rather than receive health care at home. It will force working families to lose their jobs so they can stay home to take care of their loved ones, and no doubt costly hospitalizations will increase. These cuts make life more difficult, if not impossible, for thousands of NC families in great need.

  • Justice for Carmen Chavez
The current legal system does not adequately protect the elderly, or anyone who is not working or is not wealthy, because the New Jersey courts assign a low economic value to their lives. Attorneys are reluctant to take on Elder abuse cases because even if they win they might get little compensation. This is especially true if the person incurred Medicare or Medicaid costs because they have to be paid back before any award is distributed to the plaintiff or their attorney. The Justice for Carmen Foundation was established to redress this injustice. Please read about what happened to Carmen at www.justiceforcarmenlachavez.org. With your help we can make sure that our loved ones will not suffer like Carmen and so many other people have.

  • Support CDC Research on Gun Violence Prevention
Gun violence is a major public health issue. In the wake of shooting after shooting, we've got to figure out the root causes and how to prevent the next tragedy before it happens. Did you know that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention used to research gun violence in the 80s and 90s, but the NRA bullied Congress into banning it nearly two decades ago? After the Sandy Hook tragedy, President Obama ordered the CDC to get back to studying “the causes of gun violence” but the CDC still avoids it. We have a chance to do something about this, and potentially save lives. In the hours before the latest San Bernardino shooting, doctors urged Congress to lift the funding ban. New legislation introduced back in June in the House and Senate would restore funding for gun violence prevention and gun safety research by the CDC. But it won't get passed unless we pressure Congress to stand up to the NRA and do the right thing for us, their constituents. • Save ECSU #saveecsu
State Senate Bill 744 [pg. 65] includes a two-line provision to “study the feasibility of dissolving any constituent institution whose fall full-time equivalent student enrollment declined by more than twenty percent (20%) between the 2010-2011 fiscal year and the 2013-2014 fiscal year and shall develop a plan for its dissolution. The Board of Governors shall report its findings and recommendations, including the plan for dissolution, to the 2015 General Assembly.” According to the University of North Carolina, the only constituent institution that meets this criterion is Elizabeth City State University. Elizabeth City State University is a historically African-American institution, or HBCU, that serves a 21-county service area in northeastern North Carolina, the most impoverished region of the state. Washington Monthly ranks ECSU #1, in large part, because of the social mobility that it encourages. According to Atlantic Monthly, "students [at ECSU] graduate at about twice the rate statistical models would predict, given the demographic the university serves." ECSU is the third-largest employer in the region and an engine of economic growth ($118 million in output sales, $83 million in value added, and $59 million in labor income). North Carolina needs ECSU.
