NO Patronizing Stores that Allow Open Carry WeaponsI will not patronize any store national chain that allows guns in their store in any state in the country. In California that is not a problem, but for a few days I wouldn't patronize Chipotle, e.g., Target Stores until they adopt such a policy.203 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Steven Bernstein

California: Time to Put Kids over Corporations!Corporations, like Google, continue to dodge taxes by shifting profits made here to offshore tax havens that have little to no taxes. It’s time to stop letting giant corporations get away without paying their fair share. Montana and Oregon have already passed laws to recoup money stashed in offshore tax havens. If we enacted the same policy here in California, it would generate $246 million dollars that we could use to invest in kids who don't have access to preschool. Right now, less than half of 3- and 4-year old kids are even enrolled in preschool. It's time to make corporations pay their fair share so we can give our kids the strong start they deserve.114 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Jason Pfeifle

Support Striking Workers at Walmart's Annual Shareholder MeetingToday, thousands of Walmart workers are striking at the company's annual shareholder meeting in Bentonville, Arkansas to take a stand for fair wages and just working conditions. We’re joining them by releasing a new brief that shows that Walmart could give Walmart workers substantial raises by simply ending their unproductive practice of stock buybacks. These buybacks amounted to $6.6 billion in 2013, and are a result of Walmart’s focus on short-term results over long-term value. The numbers are striking. For what shareholders spent on stock repurchases in 2013, they could opt instead to give all of Walmart's low-wage workers a $5 an hour raise. For what the company spent in dividend payments to the three heirs of the Walton family alone in 2013, they could give their 825,000 low-wage workers a $2 an hour raise. Sign our petition to support striking workers today, and tell Walmart that a higher wage is possible, and necessary. Thomas Piketty's bestselling Capital in the 21st Century places the onus of escalating wealth inequality on the growth of capital rather than labor. This year, Walmart can help break that vicious cycle by providing a productive boost to workers and its own bottom line through human capital investments that generate real returns.13,661 of 15,000 SignaturesCreated by Heather McGhee, Demos

Protect Solar EnergySolar is a renewable, non-polluting energy source, yet again the Koch Bros show their hubris by their campaigns to quash our Sun's potential. I have lived in homes with Solar, and everyone should have this choice with political support instead of suppression and taxation.3,642 of 4,000 SignaturesCreated by Lesley Lillywhite

Texans want GMOs LabeledBefore the FDA decided to allow GMOs into food without labeling, FDA scientists had repeatedly warned that GM foods can create unpredictable, hard-to-detect side effects, including allergies, toxins, new diseases, and nutritional problems. They urged long-term safety studies, but were ignored. Our children and future generations are now depending on you to protect the genetic integrity of our food, our seeds, and our bodies.380 of 400 SignaturesCreated by Judy Landress

No Duvall WalmartWALMART IS A BAD IDEA FOR OUR COMMUNITY! -Crime: An average of 269 police incidents per year take place at every Walmart— 80% of crimes occur in the parking lots—there is nothing to prevent these criminals from filtering into our neighborhood. -Jobs: Walmart is known for driving out competitors, especially small businesses. What will happen to all the businesses of Vista Gardens and Fairwood if Walmart comes to town? -Parking: The parking lot in Duvall Village is often nearly or completely full as it is. Imagine how tough it would be to find a spot with Super Walmart sharing the lot, too! -Traffic: Getting around town is difficult enough as it is, now imagine what traffic on 450, Glenn Dale Rd., and Atwell Ave. would look like with a Super Walmart! -Property Value: Super Walmarts are usually open 24 hours a day. All of the crime, traffic, trash, and noise generated by a 24-hour store could have very negative effects on the value of our homes.367 of 400 SignaturesCreated by Jennifer Dwyer
