Lets bring the standard of living up for Missourians. Many citizens in other states have started petitions to raise their minimum wage to $10.10 per hour. But we can do better! Lets raise the wage in Missouri to $11.00 per hour and show the rest of the country that Missouri respects workers. After all we are the "Show Me State", right? Our state's current minimum wage is $8.00. That's not enough for an individual or family to live on. We deserve an economy that supports everyone's right to a decent quality of life. Please join me in calling on our state legislature to pass legislation to raise the minimum wage to $10.10 per hour.

As nearly no funding exists for sustainability and environmental efforts on our campuses and students pay nearly 30% of their tuition dollars directly to pay the utility bill of UH Mānoa, the Student Sustainability Fund (SSF) makes students the leaders in funding sustainability to find solutions to issues like these. The SSF will directly benefit students, clubs, departments and our campus as a whole. The Student Sustainability Fund will be $4 a semester for each student and give UH a way to empower and engage students in active involvement in this arena. As the athletic fee is $50 a semester, a $4 fee for the SSF is a small step towards a brighter future for all those at UH Mānoa. Sustainability and greening efforts on hundreds of campuses typically result in a 1-3 year payback with a high return on investment. To manage projects like recycling, renewable energy, student gardens and more, financial support is necessary and the SSF will provide an initial push for the administration to then come on board with their own investments. As a resident of the Bronx, I have personally seen what has happened to station entrances where there is no human presence. At least today, people have the option to go to a staffed entrance and stay in the off-hour waiting area until their train comes. Without an agent in a fixed position, this vital safety/security feature will be useless. We need a human presence in the subway system!

I am a patient advocate. Chris is not a drug kingpin, he is a patient, with a family. When the police can go in without a warrant, which Long Beach does on a regular basis, it is a police state, something needs to be done. We have appealed to many, and nobody in government is listening.

The petition is about minimum wage. When I was young I lived on minimum wage and had many disadvantages, little food, not much leftover for entertainment, like movies, or for clothing and household supplies. I depended on Public Transportation in an area with very poor service, leaving me with extensive wait time. This was not an easy way to live.

It's sad to know that many of us have effectively had our pay decreased over the last 20 yrs. Due simply to the fact that we do not earn much more and costs have so drastically increased. ONCE AGAIN-- How is it that we can not support our families, with two incomes, doing the same jobs that our parents and grandparents were able to retire from with one income??

This has been a dire need for the last 4 years.
