As a father of two children, one entering his school years I have a concern about how the youth in our country encounter extreme violence in film and video games. There are many examples where killing is made to look cartoonishly fun. I realize that a more responsible approach in these mediums will not end gun violence, but that doesn't mean we as individuals shouldn't strive to minimize the bad influences on our impressionable youth.

Support for an HR 15 Discharge Petition is growing in the media, with credible, major organizations, and among members of Congress. Our favorite Democrats need to hear loud and clear that we expect them to do everything possible to ensure that HR 15 for fair, just, Comprehensive Immigration Reform passes in the US House this year. Reform is good for the economy, will help nearly 11 million to obtain a clear pathway to citizenship, and will keep families together.

The "R" Word is the Same as the "N" Word and the "K" word We Jews are appalled that fellow Jew Dan Snyder is blind to the fact that the name of the Washington football team that he owns is racist and deeply offensive to Indian peoples. As Indian leader Clyde Bellecourt said recently the “R” word is no different than the “N” word. We’d add that it’s also no different than the “K” word that has been used to taunt Jews for centuries. Words matter. They can hurt and humiliate. They can help turn people into targets of hate. The name of the team has led to other practices that promote humiliating stereotypes like fans wearing “headdresses” of chicken feathers or the mass tomahawk chop or cries to “scalp” opposing teams. It is especially wrong to be shaming Indians, who have suffered so enormously from mass killing, land theft, treaty breaking and attempts to eradicate their cultures. Dan Snyder may live in a luxurious bubble, but he can research the slurs said about Jews over the ages, about our physical appearance, our financial practices and he can read about the absurd lies about supposed uses of Christian blood in Jewish rituals. We call on all Jewish organizations to speak out on this issue. We call on companies to stop making any products for the Washington football team Dan Snyder has said he would "never" change the Washington team name. If this is true we call on the NFL commissioners to seize ownership of the team from Snyder and sell it to the city of Washington or to a group of non-bigoted owners. I think kids should be honored like mothers and fathers through a holiday, or a day off.

I am a victim of sex abuse by a family member. I only told about my abuse 3 years ago becuase I was scared, embassed and afraid to tell becuase he was a family member. I was always afraid of breaking my family apart by telling and when I did tell that is what happen. When I reported my abuse I was told it was to late to do anything. My abuser admitted to his criminal act against me and hides behind the laws that are in place. The laws today let my abuser continue to abuse children. This has got to change. My case has nothing to do with a church as many others victims. This crime affect 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 6 boys. When is this going to end,how many more children have to continue to be abused becuase we can not speak there names to warn parents. Do we not care about the safety of our children

MY SISTER, MISTY WAS MURDERED BY HER EX-BOYFRIEND, NOEL IN 2011. WHEN NOEL WAS ARRESTED FOR THE CRIME, IT WAS LEARNED THAT HE HAD SERVED 10 YEARS OF A 20-YEAR SENTENCE FOR ATTEMPTING TO KILL THE MOTHER OF HIS DAUGHTER, SEVERAL YEARS EARLIER. IF WE HAD ACCESS TO THIS INFORMATION, MY SISTER COULD STILL BE ALIVE TODAY.

Torfaen Borough Council have done it again.....now in their infinite wisdom they've decided to do away with Lollipop Ladies/Gents as part of their cost cutting measures. I wonder if they'll sleep OK when the first child is knocked down!! Shelia along with all her other colleagues across Torfaen go above and beyond to make sure our children get to school safely. Whatever the weather they stand there day in and day out and their number one concern is getting our children to school safely. What will happen once they are all gone?
