Rep. McKeon: Please Cosponsor the New House Immigration BillHouse Democrats have broken Speaker John Boehner's deadlock and introduced an immigration bill with a pathway to citizenship for the 11 million without papers. So far, over 180 House Democrats have signed on as cosponsors! But in order to get this bill past the finish line, we're going to need Republican support. The good news is that it's there. Your district's representative in the House, Congressman Buck McKeon, is part of a group of Republicans who are open to immigration reform. His support for this new bill could be the tipping point for our movement. If he becomes a part of the growing group of Republicans who have already cosponsored this bill, we know more of his colleagues in his party will build up the courage to follow. While Rep. McKeon has indicated he wants to "make [undocumented immigrants] legal, give them some kind of status to bring them into the system," he has not given any indication whether he wants to allow them to become citizens, or keep them in second-class status. But that's simply not good enough. We already have a good bill waiting in the House, and the time for vagueness is over. Rep. McKeon needs to instead stand for all aspiring Americans by joining the more than 180 House members and cosponsoring this new immigration bill! We need you and other advocates in your district to pressure Rep. McKeon into supporting this bill. If we get Rep. McKeon on board, your district could make all the difference for the millions without papers across the nation. The momentum is on our side because enough votes exist in the House to pass reform today. But instead Speaker Boehner hides behind excuses, delays, and flat-out refuses to give us a vote. We've come too far to stop now. Tell Rep. McKeon to stand up for his district by cosponsoring this new immigration bill in the House and passing the path to citizenship for the 11 million!214 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Matt Hildreth

Rep. Cook: Please Cosponsor the New House Immigration BillHouse Democrats have broken Speaker John Boehner's deadlock and introduced an immigration bill with a pathway to citizenship for the 11 million without papers. So far, over 180 House Democrats have signed on as cosponsors! But in order to get this bill past the finish line, we're going to need Republican support. The good news is that it's there. Your district's representative in the House, Congressman Paul Cook, is part of a group of Republicans who are open to immigration reform. His support for this new bill could be the tipping point for our movement. If he becomes a part of the growing group of Republicans who have already cosponsored this bill, we know more of his colleagues in his party will build up the courage to follow. However, Rep. Cook supports legalization for the 11 million-- "as long as a bill includes strict border and visa enforcement”—but has not taken a stance on citizenship. But that's simply not enough. We already have a good bill waiting in the House, and the time for vagueness is over. Rep. Cook needs to instead stand for all aspiring Americans by joining the more than 180 House members and cosponsoring this new immigration bill! So far, over 180 House Democrats have signed on as cosponsors! But in order to get this bill past the finish line, we're going to need Republican support. The good news is that it's there. Your district's representative in the House, Congressman Trey Radel, is part of a group of Republicans who are open to immigration reform. His support for this new bill could be the tipping point for our movement. If he becomes a part of the growing group of Republicans who have already cosponsored this bill, we know more of his colleagues in his party will build up the courage to follow. However, while Rep. Radel has said that he wants to consider giving legal status to the 11 million, he thinks the solution “may not include full rights of citizenship.” This simply isn't good enough. Right now, we have a good bill waiting in the House -- we just need to get Rep. Radel to come to our side. He needs to join the more than 180 House members and cosponsor this new immigration bill! We need you and other advocates in your district to pressure Rep. Radel into supporting this bill. If we get Rep. Your district's representative in the House, Congressman Gary Miller, is part of the group of House Republicans who are open to immigration reform. His support for this new bill could be the tipping point for our movement. If he becomes a part of the growing group of Republicans who have already cosponsored this bill, we know more of his colleagues in his party will build up the courage to follow. We know Rep. Miller is ready to listen to you and our movement. While he's expressed sympathy for DREAMers, we need him to extend that to the rest of the 11 million aspiring Americans—and to turn “sympathy” into concrete support for citizenship. We already have a good bill waiting in the House, and we just need to get Rep. Miller to stand by all immigrants -- not just some. He needs to join the more than 180 House members and cosponsor this new immigration bill! We need you and other advocates in your district to pressure Rep. Miller into supporting this bill. Paul Vallas is a horrible choice for Lieutenant Governor of IllinoisVallas' accomplishments in Chicago, New Orleans, and Philadelphia was pretty much the privatizing of schools, the reduction of public accountability, and the undermining of strong unions. And now he's in Haiti working his magic "fixing" the lives of even poorer young people. I have absolutely no problem signing a petition for Quinn but I'd hesitate signing a petition with Vallas on it. One stroke or heart attack and we would have Governor Vallas and Mayor Emanuel? No no no. Governor Quinn should choose a running mate that will make Illinois a better state to live in for everyone, not just for a few wealthy individuals.309 of 400 SignaturesCreated by Alonso Zaragoza

Rep. Poe: Please Cosponsor the New House Immigration BillHouse Democrats have broken Speaker John Boehner's deadlock and introduced an immigration bill with a pathway to citizenship for the 11 million without papers. So far, over 180 House Democrats have signed on as cosponsors! But in order to get this bill past the finish line, we're going to need Republican support. The good news is that it's there. Your district's representative in the House, Congressman Ted Poe, is part of a group of Republicans who are open to immigration reform. His support for this new bill could be the tipping point for our movement. If he becomes a part of the growing group of Republicans who have already cosponsored this bill, we know more of his colleagues in his party will build up the courage to follow. However, while Rep. Poe has said he's open to voting on immigration reform, he stops short of supporting a path to citizenship for the 11 million aspiring Americans. He is willing to allow DREAMers to pursue citizenship, but believes their parents and the rest of the 11 million should be restricted to second-class legal status. This simply isn't good enough. Right now, we have a good bill waiting in the House -- we just need to get Rep. Poe to come to our side. He needs to join the more than 180 House members and cosponsor this new immigration bill! Rep. Royce: Please Cosponsor the New House Immigration BillHouse Democrats have broken Speaker John Boehner's deadlock and introduced an immigration bill with a pathway to citizenship for the 11 million without papers. So far, over 180 House Democrats have signed on as cosponsors! But in order to get this bill past the finish line, we're going to need Republican support. The good news is, that with 28 pro-citizenship Republicans in the House, it's there. However, your district's representative in the House, Congressman Ed Royce, has remained largely silent on the issue of immigration reform. His support for this new bill could be the tipping point for our movement. Rep. Pearce: Please Cosponsor the New House Immigration BillHouse Democrats have broken Speaker John Boehner's deadlock and introduced an immigration bill with a pathway to citizenship for the 11 million without papers. So far, over 180 House Democrats have signed on as cosponsors! But in order to get this bill past the finish line, we're going to need Republican support. The good news is that it's there. Your district's representative in the House, Congressman Steve Pearce, is part of a group of Republicans who are open to immigration reform. His support for this new bill could be the tipping point for our movement. If he becomes a part of the growing group of Republicans who have already cosponsored this bill, we know more of his colleagues in his party will build up the courage to follow. While Rep. Pearce has held town halls with his constituents on immigration and proposed a bill that would allow many mixed-status families to stay together, he's also drawn the line for the 11 million at legalization, saying that "there is another alternative that would allow families to stay together, that would allow people to work, that just would not make them citizens." But that's simply not good enough. We already have a good bill waiting in the House, and Rep. Pearce's alternative would leave millions in second-class status. He needs to instead stand for all aspiring Americans by joining the more than 180 House members and cosponsoring this new immigration bill! We need you and other advocates in your district to pressure Rep. Pearce into supporting this bill. If we get Rep. Salary Cap For Nonprofit Housing DevelopersThe petition is about fairness in the federal subsidized housing programs that are being shredded by the massive sequestration budget cuts, and placing the poor, elderly, and disabled at risk of higher rent increases, the loss of their housing vouchers, and homelessness! Too many executives in so-called nonprofit housing organizations all across the nation make upwards of $200,000 to $300,000 a year, off of tax payer subsidized housing projects!103 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Lynda Carson

Los Angeles City Council: Don't vote to accept bigger gifts! @HerbJWessonIn these difficult times when many are struggling, voters would be appalled to learn that the Los Angeles City Council is actually considering raising the limits on gifts given to them by special interests that do business with the city The LA City Ethics Commission proposed to ban all gifts from bidders, contractors, and others with a financial stake in city decisions -- a sensible extension to the ban on contributions from them that voters overwhelmingly passed with Measure H in 2011. Alarmingly, City Council voted to not only ignore that recommendation, but to propose actually INCREASING the limits by 50%, from $100 a year to $150 a year. Los Angeles City Councilmembers are already the highest-paid in the country, receiving just under $180,000 a year. As Steve Lopez of the Los Angeles Times said, "Seems to me that if they want a gold watch, the cigars, or tickets to a ballgame or concert, they can use their own money." Sign and share this petition to tell LA councilmembers to vote NO on accepting bigger gifts now!1,062 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by Trent Lange, CA Clean Money
