Expel Cruz and Cantor Now - Save FreedomDescription: Our democratic process is based on the intent of the constitution. Considering the Affordable Care Act (ACA) was approved by both houses of a duly elected congress, signed by the President of the United State and vetted as constitutional by the Supreme Court of the United State, this is a law of the land and the will of the people. In October of 2013 these men, in collusion with non-elected influence groups like Koch's PACs, FreedomWorks and the Heritage Foundation; initiated great disruption within congress against the will of the people. Hard working American’s voted for certainty and improved opportunities for their families and communities. Ted Cruz and Eric Cantor subverted governance for their own purposes. Now Americans want justice. Accusations: 1. Poor judgment by ignoring the will of a majority of Americans (voters) 2. Conflict of interest by following the will of outside organizations with hidden agendas 3. Rules changes and subverting an orderly budget process which has worked for centuries 4. Collusion and planning to hold the Good Will and Faith in the USA hostage for their cause 5. Allowing Koch's PACs, FreedomWorks and the Heritage Foundation undue influence (lobbyists) Demand: We demand that each congressional member agree to the following action and expedite this process with full transparency and accountability to voters including timely status reports. The Constitution, Article. I., Section. 5., para 2: Each House may determine the Rules of its Proceedings, punish its Members for disorderly Behaviour, and, with the Concurrence of two thirds, expel a Member. 1. Expel Cruz and Cantor as soon as possible 2. Increase transparency of rule changes that allowed this to take place - close loop holes 3. Investigate and report on the extent that Koch's PACs, FreedomWorks and the Heritage Foundation influenced decisions by elected representatives146 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Henry Gage, Jr.

Stop the Maryville CoverupNearly 2 years ago, 14-year-old Daisy Coleman was raped at a party by a high school football star and grandson of a powerful local politician in Maryville, Missouri. But now, he’s walking free while Daisy and her family struggle to survive with what happened to her. Immediately after the rape, Daisy and her mother went to the hospital and reported the rape to police. Matthew Barnett was charged, and he confessed on tape. But months after the rape, county prosecutor Robert Rice--who has close ties to the alleged rapist's influential grandfather--dropped the charges. Worse, the town and high school ganged up not on the rapist, but on Daisy and her family. This is Steubenville all over again. And just like the Steubenville case, if thousands of us speak out and shine a national spotlight on Maryville, we can get justice for Daisy and her family. Will you sign our petition to demand justice for Daisy?3,702 of 4,000 SignaturesCreated by Nita and Shaunna, UltraViolet

Pres. Obama: Remember the Beirut PeacekeepersIranian leaders are currently seeking relief from the lawfully imposed U.S. sanctions. Hundreds of survivors, mothers, fathers, brothers, and sisters of those killed or maimed in the Oct. 23, 1983 Marine Barracks bombing seek relief from their pain and suffering every day. 30 years is too long to wait for justice. President Obama can hold Iran accountable for their actions. Remember the peacekeepers, Mr. President. The first duty is to remember.692 of 800 SignaturesCreated by Cole Dowden

The cost of fast food wagesRecently released research shows how low-wage, no-benefit fast food jobs force workers to rely on public assistance programs, leaving our tax-dollars to foot the bill-- to the tune of $708 million. If you think it’s outrageous that our tax dollars are being used to line the pockets of fast food corporations instead of going to schools, park and other public services that would benefit all New Yorkers, sign our petition to the members of the New York State Legislature demanding they investigate this fast food swindle.4,227 of 5,000 SignaturesCreated by Shentia Simon, Fast Food Forward

Michigan Attorney Bill Schuette Won’t ListenWe need to make our voices heard by Attorney General Schuette and to get some action for the hundreds of victims and family members of victims that have been hurt and killed by Doctor Farid Fata. To date Bill Schuette has responded with nothing but boiler plate responses that don’t address what the issues really are. Bill Schuette is not a victims rights advocate as his political propaganda advertises him to be. We need Bill Schuette to step up to the plate and do the job that he was hired to do!264 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Jeffery Berz

When congresspersons are unfit to serveAll Americans are being harmed by the Shutdown and the chaos over raising the debt ceiling limit. The recent actions by a few extremist Congresspersons is criminal behavior. Those who overtly block democratic process are unfit to serve. The Justice Department must defend the American public by stopping these few who have selfishly and unnecessarily inflicted economic and social harm on the many.31 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Stephanie Biziewski

.@nytimes, @Sulliview: Put Budget Numbers in Context[UPDATE: New York Times Public Editor Margaret Sullivan has responded to this petition: "The Times Is Working on Ways to Make Numbers-Based Stories Clearer for Readers" http://publiceditor.blogs.nytimes.com/2013/10/18/the-times-is-working-on-ways-to-make-numbers-based-stories-clearer-for-readers] Economist Dean Baker writes: "It is the media’s job to inform the public about the budget. They are clearly failing badly. A major reason is very simple. When they write about the budget they almost never put the numbers in context. As a result, readers might hear that we’re spending $15 billion on foreign aid or $400 million on the CPB [Corporation for Public Broadcasting] and think that this is a lot of money...But it is not a lot of money for the federal government. This point would be immediately apparent in every news report on the budget if the standard practice were to report budget items as a share of the budget instead of in dollar terms. Telling readers that spending on CPB takes up 0.012 percent of the budget immediately tells them how important this spending is to the government. Telling readers that we’re spending $400 million on CPB tells the overwhelming majority of readers almost nothing... Fortunately the New York Times has a public editor, Margaret Sullivan, who takes journalistic standards seriously. There is good reason to believe that if enough people were to raise this issue with her that she would look into the issue and press the matter with the paper’s editors. If the New York Times were to change its practice for budget reporting most of the rest of the media would almost certainly follow. The NYT is recognized as the preeminent newspaper in the country. Their standards are taken seriously by everyone." -"The Tea Party and the New York Times Shut Down the Government," Dean Baker, Truthout, 14 October 2013 http://truth-out.org/opinion/item/19402-the-tea-party-and-the-new-york-times-shut-down-the-government20,302 of 25,000 SignaturesCreated by Robert Naiman

Students Against a Tobacco Ban at VTCVermont Tech has a large tobacco-using population, whether that be smoking, chewing/dipping, or other means. This proposal restricts our personal freedoms and cultural values, as well as those of our peers. We are also concerned that if this proposal were passed, future enrollment at Vermont Tech would decline.30 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Rachel Arsenault
