Funding research for only breast cancer isn't going to help thousands of other people who have other kinds of Cancer. Even though breast cancer is the most common cancer in woman, that doesn't mean we can't support other cancers as well, and help thousands more people. Help fund research for, not one single disease, but all of the types of Cancer we know of.

As a retired military spouse of 24 years, I find this disgusting that we could call a military family after the death of a loved one, and tell them sorry no benefits. These men and women are fighting and giving their life for this country and this is how we treat them, and their families? I can longer sit back and say nothing.

“The scariest part was probably being handcuffed.” By all accounts Kyle Thompson is a normal 14-year old kid who loves playing football and hanging out with his friends. His principal says he’d love to have an entire school filled with students like Kyle. So why on earth was Kyle led from school in handcuffs, expelled from all state public schools and placed under house arrest for the year? Kyle’s teacher wanted to see a note he had written, and when she playfully tried to take it from him, he tried to hold on to it. Even though all the witness statements said that the teacher was joking around and Kyle didn’t act aggressively, the incident ended with Kyle under arrest. This ‘zero-tolerance’ approach to school discipline takes kids like Kyle out of the education system and funnels them into the criminal justice system because of a single, small infraction. There, they can look forward to a life of neglect and lost opportunity, as it can be impossible to find new schools or attend college once their records are tainted. In Kyle’s case, his school says it was prevented from handling punishment differently, stating: “The issue raised in this petition presents an opportunity for citizens to examine ‘zero tolerance’ laws in Michigan…” So this doesn’t have to be the end of Kyle’s story, or the stories of thousands of students just like him. With enough public pressure, we can push the Michigan legislature to prioritize educating, not imprisoning our young students.

I have been paying money to MN WDSE TV for years. At one point they seemed interested in airing WI programming before the signals were split. That no longer seems to be true. They continue to collect money from NW WI's residents for pledges and they don't seem to care about giving WI residents even a hint of WI news.

The pristine natural resources of North Florida's historic Suwannee River, a nearby rare karst spring, agriculture, livestock, and the people's health are threatened by a planned medical waste incinerator’s burning thousands of pounds of medical waste per day. According to the EPA, the emissions will include acid gases such as sulfur dioxide and hydrogen chloride, as well as carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, cadmium, lead, mercury, dioxins, furans, and particulate matter. Unfortunately, our local county commissioners have recently voted on amendments authorizing special exceptions and special permits which have relinquished the Board's rights to hold public hearings and the public's voice to be heard in the matter of use of the land where this medical incinerator is to be built. We ask that the Suwannee County Commissioners reverse their previous decisions regarding land use rights and regulations for the catalyst site. Please help us stop this threat and injustice! John Boehner has it in his immediate power to halt the destructive course he and his Tea Party friends have set. That he has chosen not to allow a clean resolution to come to the House floor, thus allowing serious damage to continue to our citizens and the nation, is reprehensible and indicates his loyalties are not to the people of the United States. He has violated his Constitutional oath and is unfit to serve. He should be removed.

The spiraling adversarial bipartisanship for personal and political party gains has made Congress increasingly dysfunctional at great cost to our country's economy and social growth. The welfare of the country and its citizens has been thrust into tertiary priority by the self-interests of politicians, large corporations and wealthy special interest groups. Currently, there are insufficient disincentives or penalties for the politicians, who paradoxically have personal incentives to shut down the government, with the cost being born by the citizens. To decrease this largely unchecked corrupted system, this petition seeks to make members of Congress much more accountable to their constituents in a concrete, specific and direct way. A mandatory recall election would create a proportionate and powerful disincentive for each and every member of a Congress that fails to pass a budget leading to a government shut down or default.
