In the current federal budget context, in which federal borrowing is capped under the Budget Control Act, and increased taxes on the super-rich like a Wall Street speculation tax are considered off the table, it's an economic fact that unnecessary Pentagon spending will destroy jobs. That's because with borrowing capped, more Pentagon spending will mean more cuts to domestic spending and higher taxes on working families. That means a "Grand Bargain" which includes cuts to Social Security, higher taxes on the 99%, and turning off Pentagon cuts will destroy American jobs. This fact about unnecessary Pentagon spending is documented in a 2011 study by the University of Massachusetts. More Americans don't know this because our leading Keynesian economist public intellectuals haven't publicly championed this fact. I have been a resident of the DC area my entire life and have been attending the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg for the past three years. I believe we can speak for everyone who lives or will live along Interstate 95 that something must be done about the incredible amount of car traffic that has become more and more apparent along the highway in the last decade. However, widening the highway or adding an HOV lane or building the Bi-County Parkway is not a long-term solution. Traffic on I-95 is no longer a morning and evening, weekday phenomenon--it happens at all times of the day and night. And it's only getting worse. The best way to prevent this environmental disaster from worsening is to add more cheap, enjoyable train rides by VRE for commuters of all kinds, not just the 9am to 5pm office workers. The MARC Train in Maryland has been providing counter-rush hour service for years now and will begin providing weekend service starting December 7th--so should Virginia!

Our economy is teetering on the edge of a recession worse than than that of 2008. If Congress can't come to a budget agreement by Oct. 17th the middle class will suffer. Rep. Tipton is beholden to special interests and has forgotten who he works for: the people of Colorado. We need Rep. Tipton to wake up and do his job, which means standing up for hard-working Coloradans who have suffered under wildfires and floods, and passing a clean budget with no strings attached.

John Boehner is soley responsibilty for the government shut down and choas in our country this week. He knows there are enough votes in the house to pass a clean CR, but refuses to put the billon the floor for a vote. This should not be allowed and "we the people" must force responsibile behavior from our elected officials, by insisting that they abandon the Hassert Rule and put the bill passed and sent over by the Senate to a full house vote today.

I am an alternative healthcare practitioner. Individuals seek my care after modern medicine has either failed or damaged them. I would like the opportunity to serve them on an equal basis with allopathic medicine at the outset, rather than as a last resort.

Every day I walk my nephews to school at Hunters Glen Elementary and too many motorists are not paying attention to the road or are driving too fast in a school zone. This is a serious issue because our children could be injured or worse, fatally struck by a moving vehicle if we do not secure the resources we need to keep them safe. The TeaParty has become the most destructive force against our country, affecting so many people struggling in this economy while perpetuating their suffering. They have become the death panels they warned us about.

I want the government back in operation, to stop the madness and allow the people to receive what they are entitled to. I am tired of Congress manipulating the welfare of the American people, and causing more damage than good to the citizen.
