  • Congress: Veterans Rely on the ENTIRE Government Being Open
Republican Speaker of the House John Boehner said that Republicans were locked in an "epic battle" to keep the government shutdown going. As a World War II veteran, I fought in six epic battles. I helped fight the Nazis in the North African seas, and took part in operations that liberated Italy and the South of France, from Germany. The Tea Party Shutdown is not an epic battle -- it is bad governance. Americans and veterans like me depend on our entire government being open. I filmed a television ad with VoteVets, and it's on the air. I hope you'll watch it and sign my petition today. - Redge Ranyard, WWII Veteran.

  • SAVE PROPOSITION A and STOP OIL DRILLING IN OUR OPEN SPACES
In the early and mid 90's Proposition A which was sponsored by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors was passed by a majority of the Los Angeles County taxpayers. Part of Prop A a park proposition was used for acquiring land as Open Spaces and to keep it that way for perpetuity (forever) and for upgrading parks. Now, the Whittier City Council wants to turn the Open Space land into an oil field. They are trying to change the "land use" for the land which was purchased with Prop A money. If Whittier is successful then all Open Space land that was purchased with Los Angeles County Prop A money can have their land use changed to oil fields. This could have a ripple effect throughout the State of California by allowing land use changes on land in the State that was purchased with similar propositions. On October 29, 2013 at 9:30 A.M. the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors will be having a Public Hearing on Prop A. The purpose of the hearing is to get public input on changing the "land use" into an oil field. WE OPPOSE THE OIL PROJECT AND LAND USE CHANGES. We urge you to attend the meeting if at all possible. In the event you cannot attend you can make your comments on this petition and it will be forwarded to the Board of Supervisors. The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors has the power to stop this project. Can't Drill Can't Frack. Location: Kenneth Hahn Hall of Administration Executive Office of the Board Room 383 500 West Temple Street Los Angeles, Ca. 90012

  • Multi-Car Train Station Permits
This is a meaningful quality of life issue, and the restrictive nature of this new policy suggests that Township officials lack understanding of what residents need. In order to make our officials better understand our needs, this petition will inform them that many residents do not agree with the new train station permit policy and would like it to be modified.

  • Get NFL observe prostate cancer awareness
While it is commendable that the NFL promotes Breast Cancer Awareness by allowing players to wear pink, it is equally important to draw attention to Prostate Cancer Awareness. Just as many men die from Prostate Cancer as women die from breast cancer. Light blue is the color for Prostate Cancer and October is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month. We call on the NFL to support Men's Health by starting a campaign to have teams wear light blue for the month of October.
