• Safety First in the Township of Denville
I believe Public safety should be the Township of Denville's highest priority there fore I oppose Ord. 17-13 to amend Ch.19 land use, for Rehabilitation of 30 Estling Lake Road, which calls for 100 rental units on 7.2 acres on a dead end street with one point of exit & entry, which is blocked daily by New Jersey Transit Train Schedule being the Denville Train Station.

  • Fight the banks! Save our homes! Demand justice!
Wall Street and the big banks engaged in predatory lending and pushed working families into mortgages they knew they couldn’t afford. The housing bubble and the subsequent foreclosure crisis, created by Wall Street, has destabilized communities and pummeled municipal budgets across New Jersey. We can no longer wait for action at the federal level to hold banks accountable. Our communities need to protect the public interest now. NJ Communities United is actively organizing homeowners in cities around the state to demand urgent action by local elected leaders to end the crisis, keep families in their homes and protect the public good of our struggling communities. Specifically, homeowners and advocates are urging New Jersey cities to pursue principle reduction strategies for homeowners whose mortgages are underwater - including the use of eminent domain. Historically, eminent domain has been used against working-class communities to make way for large development projects that profit investors and banks. Angry that this tool is being used against the banks, Wall Street predictably filed a lawsuit against the city of Richmond, CA calling the use of eminent domain “unconstitutional,” even though there are multiple court rulings that support its use in similar circumstances. We are certain that Richmond, CA – and other cities considering eminent domain – have the constitutional right to seize underwater mortgages from banks that are unwilling to work with homeowners. More than this, we believe in that the power of the people cannot be defeated! Thousands of homeowners are actively engaged in campaigns across the country to save their homes from greedy banks – and YOUR voice is central to this struggle! In solidarity, Trina Scordo NJ Communities United

  • Milwaukee Needs A Living Wage
Milwaukee was once a bastion of the middle class. Sadly, over the last 30 years, good-paying jobs have been replaced by low-wage service sector positions that trap 196,000 Milwaukee-area workers in poverty. It doesn't have to be this way - especially since a large number of these jobs are paid for with public tax dollars. Let's ensure that public resources are used to address our economic challenges.

  • Women Deserve Clean Water
I've seen firsthand what a difference easy access to clean water and sanitation can make in the lives of women and girls around the world. Without it, they are sicker, less safe, and (for girls) less likely to be in school. New legislation in Congress, The Water for the World Act of 2013, could greatly expand access to these vital services. Please sign Women Thrive Worldwide's petition and urge your Representative to support it.

  • President Obama: New York Wants Fracking Banned, on Public Lands and Everywhere!
The Obama Administration recently proposed new, woefully inadequate, rules for oil and gas fracking on federal lands managed by the Bureau of Land Management. By doing so, the BLM will pave the way for drillers to amass corporate profits at the expense of our American treasures and essential resources. Stand with the people of New York in calling for a National Ban by signing this petition to submit comments under protest for drilling on public lands. No amount of rules will fix the industry's well-documented chronic well casing failures, nor mitigate the gross amount of chemicals, volatile organic compounds, or methane contamination in groundwater. New Yorkers have long been embroiled in an epic struggle with the oil and gas industry, fighting for basic necessities and resources that are often repeatedly compromised by the drilling and fracking process such as clean water, air, and food, not to mention good health and a sustainable future. New Yorkers know that not only do we need to protect our pristine public lands by banning fracking in those areas, but we also need to protect all Americans from this dubious practice which involves the injecting of millions of gallons of water laced with toxic, cancer causing chemicals in order to shatter bedrock. Studies show that the process of drilling, fracking, processing and transporting natural gas results in a tremendous amount of methane being released into the air. Methane is 70-100 times more potent than CO2 over a 20- year time frame. Recently published peer-reviewed studies on methane emissions show that, at present, gas extraction and combustion significantly contributes more greenhouse emissions than burning coal. So not only is fracking dangerous, but the methane emissions from fracking accelerate climate change and spell disaster for our country. The best way to protect our revered public lands and the rest of our country – including our air, water, food, health and climate - from fracking is to prohibit this inherently dangerous form of fossil fuel extraction entirely. This comment is submitted under protest the question isn't how we should be fracking, but if we should be doing it at all.

  • Agent/Representation vs. 1st Amend. Rights
Lack of proper agent representation in literary works, screenplays, and music should not force someone into poverty and loss of commerce trade. With the Networks, and Production Studio's in the position to establish a platform for a unique cultural performances which can give new light on issues taking place in America with additional historic information never before seen, or heard. A citizens 1st Amendment Rights and freedom of expression is of little use if access is denied for commerce trade. Equal representation is the issue involved. The Story ROOTS was produced, Forest Gump, Shindler's List, etc. I too have a story to tell about two cultures colliding out of the mist of WW2 and the effects on a young child artist / inventor born to a 1959 American culture hell bent on it's own destruction at home. The story is called BLASPHEMY OF A NATION and is a true story taking place in the U.S. Additional literary works include Star Trex: "Pegasus" the movie, non agented sense 2000. Both scripts contain alternative options that the U.S. could have taken over the course of two centuries. Find out about a voice silenced (5) decades ongoing.
