Tell the FCC to keep prime time free of nudityThe FCC is planning to remove it's ban on the f word and partial nudity on regular day time television. They are only taking input on this topic this month. Please contact them. As a mother I already have a hard time maintaining the innocents of my three children. I think it's inappropriate and wrong to remove this ban and allow frontal nudity and the f word being broadcast on daytime television. Please stand up against this.31 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Melissa Kelley

Voter approval for tax increase to support wartime activitiesI, like many Americans have been frustrated by the many Americans who are proudly "pro-war" but don't want to increase taxes for any reason, ever. How else do we pay for war? By cutting programs at home? I for one, supported by many, do not believe it is fair for politicians to decide to go to war and then please their constituents by not raising the necessary revenue to pay for it. We are in large part in the economic mess we are in now because of a decade-plus-long-war which was all paid for from borrowed money and contributed greatly to the current fiscal defecit. I believe if the "pro-war" Americans were responsible for actually paying for war by their own decision to support it, we would have a whole lot less of it. This helps strengthen our economy, gives us ownership of our decisions as a nation, and not to mention brings more peace and prosperity to America.1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Katy Moon

Social Security Disability payments are stealing from my retirement!Going forward, a retiree living an average lifespan will collect only 60% of the money that they have paid into Social Security. How can SS not remain solvent? Answer: Social Security Disability is increasingly being used as an off the books welfare program. People who were once helped by programs funded through the budget are now being put on SS disability. The definition of disability has been stretched to allow many more people to claim benefits. In the last 5 years the solvency date has decreased from 2043 to 2033. It is obvious that it is the over use of the disability portion that is bleeding the trust fund dry, and not the retirement of Baby Boomers.1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Barb Tessin

Save Social SecurityI have already lost many benefits from my job with the State of Nevada - ie - being forced off the insurance plan. I can not afford to lose more benefits from Social Security. Also, my meager retirement from the State of Nevada is tied to social security as well. I and educators like myself will continue to pay the brunt of the costs while wealthy get to keep their riches and refuse to pay appropriate taxes1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Carol Aalbers

Why cutting Social Security is useless and wrongRepublicans, and some Democrats, want us to believe that Social Security must be cut in order to reduce the deficit. They are either lying or very misinformed. The truth is that Social Security is not only in good condition, Social Security is in no way related to the deficit or the Deficit Shortfall. They are two entirely different funds and one has nothing to do with the other. The Social Security fund consists of monies already paid into Social Security from workers past and present. According to most economists, Social Security is solvent and will remain in good health for decades to come, and any fine tuning that may be needed can be done in the next decade or two. The truth is: not one single cent of any payment ever made by Social Security comes from, or affects the budget, or the budget deficit in any way. Never has. Never will. So why is anyone ever talking about cutting Social Security? Some say Republicans want to get their hands on the money. Some say it's a distraction. What ever the reason, we need to start understanding and talking about the real deficit problems and not be sidetracked or hoodwinked by another Republican lie... fix the deficit with something that has absolutely nothing to do with deficit. This petition lets our representatives know that we are becoming educated on the truth and reality of the situation, urges them to do the same (if they have not already), and to stand up being more vocal about the truth and real deficit problems, and especially, to do their job - represent the will of the people who elected them.4 of 100 SignaturesCreated by I.
