  • If it's not broken, don't fix it!
    Recipients of Social Security have paid into it for their entire working lives. To accommodate baby-boomers and secure Social Security's longevity, the easiest and most fair fix is to eliminate the cap on income subjected to Social Security taxes. After all, why should a person whose annual income is approximately $107,000 or less pay Social Security taxes on 100% of her/his income, while one who earns approximately $400,000 pays Social Security taxes on only 1/4 of his/her income?

    President Obama has proposed cutting Social Security by lowering cost-of-living adjustments for current and future retirees. These cuts, sometimes called "chained CPI," will hurt seniors who have paid into the system for their whole lives and are already struggling with rising health care costs. If President Obama insists on pushing these cuts, then it's up to Democrats in Congress, including Montana Senators Jon Tester and Max Baucus, to say no. But standing up to a president of your own party isn't easy, and Democrats are unlikely to do it unless they hear from constituents.

  • Don't Cut Social Security!
    I am permanently disabled having Treatment-Resistant Major Depressive Disorder. If Social Security is cut, I will directly suffer from this. What am I supposed to do? Social Security is minimal already. If it is cut any further, you might as well cancel it, and take the damn money to build more drones. The leaders of this country don't give a damn anyway. Just go to hell.
