California's courts have endured relentless budget cuts over the past five years, with catastrophic impacts on the public -- and disproportionately affecting the poor, the disabled, the elderly and the very young. This is our third branch of government and a basic tenet of democracy is: Justice for All. As a former compliance officer for a major Wall Street bank, I got to see first hand how these huge banks are strangulating the economy. If we bring back this legislation, it would break up the Wall Street banks. Commercial banks would go back to providing only banking products, checking, savings and CDs under regulation, and only allow the investment banks to sell investment products. It would protect the economy from an economic meltdown.

My home is underwater, I would like to refinance my home but can't because I do not qualify because I do not have a Fannie Mae or Fredie Mac Loan. I lost my job 3 job after 20 years of employment, was unemployed for almost a year. My husband had neck surgery last year and was on unemployment. I attempted to get a loan modification and my lender said that loss of job and disability were not hardships. I would like to refinance my home to get my interest rate a little lower so that I can recover from the financial hardship that loosing my job and my husband's injury caused us. A rough estimate of the cost of deploying U.S. troops to Afghanistan is a billion dollars per thousand troops per year. If we withdraw 16,300 troops from Afghanistan and keep them out, that would save $163 billion over ten years. 2. Cut the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter program. A recent estimate of the long-term cost of purchasing, operating and maintaining 2,457 F-35s is $1.5 trillion. [1] That's $610 million per plane. If we cut 267 planes - a little over 10% - that would save $163 billion. 3. Cut Pentagon contracting. Every year the Pentagon spends more than $360 billion purchasing goods and services from contractors. ASWSU President Elect Taylor Hennessey and Vice President Elect Kevin Massimino disregarded the voice of the Multicultural Community when chosing the Director of Multicultural Affairs position for 2013-2014. Although we were included in the interview process, and many wrote letters of recommendations our voice was silenced with the executive position being offered to a person that we, the Multicultural Community, feel is least fit for a representation of who we are, and our purpose at large.

Opposing the Social Security cuts! I don't think that I have been affected yet by the cuts, but I know that I probaby will be when I become older! I'm in my early 30's right now but I know that when I hit my retired age I wont be able to retire because there will be no SS for us born in and around the 80's!! This is really sad that we wont get to have this opportunity to have what others (meaning people before us) had or have. And for those who already have it, they're not getting much. I don't want to have to work in a low down pet store TRYING to make ends meet. My parents wont be around forever! I want to have somewhere to live on my own and to not ever be on foodstamp or any kind of government assistance again, because I've never had to go this route before. Bush has really messed up the younger generation to come! Please don't do this and STOP BEING SO FREAKIN GREEDY!! If you guys would just work the heck together and also raise the minimum wage because no one can live off just 7.25 an hr!!! I mean if you were in our shoes how would YOU feel? Think about that.
