  • Change legal age of adulthood in MS to 18
The state of Mississippi says a minor is not an adult until age 21. while 18 is the age of adulthood. They force parents to pay child support until the child becomes 21. This is unfair and congress, and the MS state legislature need to make the legal adult age 18. If you can vote and join the military at 18 then you are an adult and therefore should not be eligible for child support and the entitlement should stop, the same as most other states in the US. Lets make Mississippi change the legal age for adulthood to 18.

  • SENIORS IN DIRE NEED IN UNITED STATES
President Obama is taking advantage of SENIORS IN THIS COUNTRY. I live on Social Security and barely have enough to eat and don't have much left over to really buy most of the basics I need for everyday life. I pay over $300.00 on Health, Prescription Plan D, and Medicare Premium,I cannot afford Dental insuance nor qualiffy for food stamps even tho my income after all the above is less than $13,000 a year. ENOUGH WITH IGNORING THE SENIORS WHO WORKED AND PAYED INTO SOCIAL SECURITY, STOPE GIVING OUR MONIES TO THE YOUNGER PEOPLE WHO SHOULD BE ABLE TO WORK IF OBAMA WOULD RUN THIS COUNTRY RIGHT AND DO SOMETHING ABOUT JOBS, I PERSONALLY AND KNOW OTHER SENIORS WHO ARE SO STRESSED IN OUR OLDER AGE WHEN WE CANNOT EVEN AFFORD SOME THINGS WE NEED OR WOULD LIKE TO HAVE. OBAMA IS SET FOR LIFE AND HIS FAMILY WILL NEVER HAVE NEED SO HE DOES NOT CARE ABOUT SENIORS IN THIS COUNTRY. $13,000 a year

  • Cuts to Social Security and Cost of Living increases.
President Obama compaigned on promises to not touch Social Security. Now he is going back on his word. We have paid into this system all our working lives and have earned this benefit. It is not an entitlement! And not the way to address the deficit.

  • Do Not Cut Social Security
This is about President Obama's proposal to change the way cost of living increases are calculated for retirees and veterans on Social Security. As a concern citizen, the proposed "chained CPI" would be a significant cut to senior citizens and disable veterans who are on a fix income. This terrible idea should be rejected.

  • Stop Cuts in Social Security COLAs
The federal government is considering changing the COLA for Social Security recipients. My parents and millions of others continued in their middle class lives after retirement because of the way COLAs were tied to the Consumer Price Index in the 1970's, so that they would not lose their buying power due to inflation. In the 1980's our payroll taxes were doubled to pay for future benefits. Because of the last 5 years, retirees/potential retirees are much worse off than previous retirees and now is NOT the time to cut back earned Social Security benefits for seniors.

  • Urge Congress to End Mass Incarceration
It is time to end mass incarceration in The United States. Our federal prison system is 39% over capacity, filled with non-violent offenders who make up more than half that population, many of whom are serving longer sentences than if they had committed a violent crime. And there is no parole on the federal level. The United States spends more money on prisons than on education, and we incarcerate more of our population than any other developed nation. Individual states have begun to realize, and prove, that by decreasing their prison populations and allocating funds for crime prevention, that crime is reduced. Fewer people in prison can actually equal less crime. Tell Congress to be smarter on crime, and end mass incarceration now. Update - There is now a Justice Safety Valve Bill in the House, making it bi-partisan, and the House Judiciary committee has created a bi-partisan task force on overcriminalization on the federal level. We have to let our Senators and Representatives know that they are moving in the right direction, and that more needs to be done, and sooner rather than later.
