  • Don't reduce Social Security
    Obama is willing to reduce the Social Security benefits by changing to a "chained CPI" adjustment instead of using the Consumer Price Index of his own department. The argument is that this is more "fair". This is an invalid argument and the only intention is to reduce the benefits and give the President some political power to get something from the Republicans. A much better way would be to increase or eliminate the top end limit on Social Security tax. Obama isn't listening to us. We need to get our word out to our representatives in Congress.

    If the Chained CPI is enacted, that will hurt all seniors on Social Security right now, and it will continue to hurt others just beginning their benefits. We have to stop President Obama from using our benefits as a bargaining tool--something he said he wouldn't do.

    I am a Senior Citizen, and am very concerned about the proposed changes to lower annual increases.
