• Do not cut Social Security
There are a number of seniors who only have social security to live on, cutting Social Security by lowering cost-of-living adjustments for current and future retirees, will hurt seniors who have paid into the system for their whole lives and are already struggling with rising health care costs....Really, the last cost of living adjustment to seniors was 1 & 1/2%, which was actually taken away to do the increase in Medicare costs. Most seniors are receiving less per month than last year.

  • Proposed Changes to Social Security funding
The proposed change to Social Security to be attached to "Chained CPI" will truly hurt poor Seniors who totally depend on Social Secutiry and have no other income. If you want to tax the rich, go ahead, but don't remove the safety net from poor people. Any consideration to do this will only bring shame to all of you who are the "fat cats" sitting in luxury.

  • No cuts for Social Security
Many retirees cannot afford basic necessities like food and water and have resorted living on pet food just to survive. Now we're looking at cutting what income they have further. My own mother recently received a cost of living increase, all of $13 to help cover her expenses. Most of which are covered by me since I had to bring her into my apartment so that I could take care of her. This is unacceptable. My mother paid into the system for years and now what she rightfully paid is being taken away? Unacceptable.

  • Do NOT cut Social Security!
This CPI business is not just a technical adjustment to SS funding. When all is said and done, it is a cut in benefits to the most vulnerable people in our society. Social Security is currently solvent and would stay solvent indefinitely if the SS trust fund wasn't constantly raided.

  • New Yorkers say no cuts to Social Security benefits!
President Obama's budget plan is not the kind of change we can believe in. Obama's budget will includes a big cut to Social Security benefits -- making life harder for retirees for years to come. Despite President Obama's campaign promises about protecting Social Security and Medicare benefits, he is pushing hard for this devastating cut. But members of Congress who care about working families can stop this plan. Speaker Boehner needs Democratic votes to pass even the least controversial bills. So if enough Democrats say Chained CPI and other benefit cuts are off the table, then they'll really be off the table.
