Sudantha Vidanage: Resign/Be Removed From The Bethlehem Area School District's Board of DirectorsI am a resident, tax payer, and voter within the Bethlehem Area School District. Over the last few months the BASD Board of Directors have been debating the 2013-2014 school year budget, as well as other important issues. As a resident, tax payer, and voter of the district I believe that our children's education should be the top priority of the district and especially the board of directors. It has been made very clear to "us" the public that the district, community, and our children are not Director Vidanage's top priority. He has an atrocious/embarrassing attendance record for meetings/budget hearings. In 2011, I casted my vote in favor of Mr. Vidanage, because I then believed our children would been his top priority. Since then I have been proven wrong by his lack of attendance. Mr. Vidanage shows up late to meetings, leaves early, or doesn't even bother to show up at all. By doing this he has violated his obligation to the district, students, and tax payers. In 2011, Mr. Vidanage swore an oath to "us" the tax payers and the district when he said, "I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support, obey and defend the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of this Commonwealth, and that I will discharge the duties of my office with fidelity." Since then he has violated that oath and his obligations. Therefore "we" the tax payers, parents, community, and voters ask that Mr. Vidanage resign from the Bethlehem Area School Board of Directors. If he choses not to follow the wishes of those who have elected him, then "we" ask the Board of Directors to declare Mr. Vidanage's seat abandoned/vacated.2 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Jessica Hernandez

Guitar Center and Bain Capital: Let Workers Unite for a Fair WorkplaceWe work at Guitar Center and we are organizing across the country to improve wages and working conditions for all Guitar Center employees. We love our jobs and our passion is helping our customers achieve their musical dreams. But we often have trouble making ends meet, thanks to low wages and fluctuating hours. We are asked to do many non-selling tasks which hurt our commissions. Sales workers do not receive sick days, health benefits are expensive and part timers are not even offered health benefits. It’s been an exciting year for the Guitar Center campaign: workers in New York, Chicago and Las Vegas have successfully organized a union at their workplaces, over 100 bands and artists have endorse the campaign, and tens of thousands of people have signed petitions supporting us. However, the company has responded by refusing to give us a fair contract and has launched an aggressive campaign to bust the union. The company’s last offer is worse than non-union stores. It is meant to punish us for standing up for ourselves. Our union has been forced to file charges detailing the company’s bad faith negotiating and union busting. We now say: Enough is Enough. We are asking the public to support us as we enter the final stages of negotiations! Sign the petition below to help us get a fair contract and a support our union. 22 Vets a DayAccording to Veteran's Administration statistics, 22 veterans commit suicide, every day. My own Navy vet son took his life on 1/3/13. With a backlog of 1 million veterans waiting for processing via the VA, how many more will lose hope and take their lives? Veterans sacrificed for our freedom, we must ensure they get the best care. Enact and fund policies and programs that go further than suicide hotlines for veterans. Many veterans are suffering from PTSD and other issues that are treatable, however, they need immediate attention. Waiting months or years for treatment is too long. Often, filling out paperwork is too much of a burden on those already suffering. Making a life-saving phone call is impossible for someone who is not in their right mind. Veterans suffering from PTSD and other disorders cannot be expected to wait for the VA to call their number. There is a disconnect between discharge & VA treatment. Find the gaps, and fix them. We cannot claim to be patriots if we do not protect and support the very people who make our lives and freedom possible.432 of 500 SignaturesCreated by Julianne Downing

No Cuts To Social SecurityPresident Obama is talking about cutting Social Security benefits. Social Security was never set up for the government to have access to in the first place. This is money paid by all the taxpayers and that we have worked hard for. For many seniors, this is all they get in retirement, and cutting this would harm millions of seniors already affected by the economy.622 of 800 SignaturesCreated by Charlene Little

Congressmen Lamar Smith and Ted Poe: No Human Beings Are "Illegal"Over the last few years, groups across the country have called for an end to describing the more than 12 million undocumented immigrants that live in America as "illegal." The movement is headlined by efforts of Jose Vargas, a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist who announced in 2011 that he is an undocumented immigrant. Since that time, activists from across the country have pressured elected officials and news organizations to stop using the term "illegal" when describing America's millions of immigrants. Just recently, the Associated Press has announced they will stop using the term "illegal immigrant" or the term "illegal" when describing a person. They correctly reasoned that a behavior is illegal, but a person is not. The New York Times is also reconsidering using the term. An analysis by the Sunlight Foundation has found that Congressmen Lamar Smith and Ted Poe employed the term "illegal immigrant" the most over the last five years. Sign the petition and tell them that a behavior is illegal, but a person is not.1,710 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by Matt Glazer
