• Reinstate Even Start
Families across NYS lost pre-school and adult literacy education when Even Start was cut. Without Even Start, families with parents getting their GEDs and children learning to read and write in a quality pre-school classroom environment have come to a standstill. There is no preschool, parents can't get to parent-teacher or special ed conferences at their regular schools, and the parents still do not have their GEDs.

  • Save Our Post Office Iowa
Our goal is to save the U.S. Postal Service from drastic cuts in service. We want the postal service to cease closing mail processing plants. We want the postal service to continue 6 day delivery and we want the postal service to stop closing post offices and cutting retail operating hours. Our goal is to see the dramatic pre payments into retirement accounts to stop and be returned to the postal service. We are proud of our postal network in Iowa and want to keep it the way it is.

  • College Tuition Loan Debt
College students graduating by the hundreds and no jobs, or jobs paying below what their degrees dictate. So they are faced with either having no job or taking what they can get in order to live, but still not enough to pay for cost of living and tuition payments. I am being affected by this right now. My daughter has college debt that I don't know how we will pay it. I have been laid-off for 4/5 years now. I am not able to help her. I understand may other college students are in the same predicament. I understand it has been referred to as another Mortgage Crisis (yet is is College Debt Crisis)

  • Let my people live: Male? Female? You tell me
The laws currently written in the state of Tennessee state that with or without surgery, the gender on your birth certificate cannot be changed. That is wrong. No one should have to go through life being labeled something they aren't.

  • CNN Should Apologize for Sympathizing With Steubenville Rapists
On Sunday, March 17, 2013, CNN broke the news that the Trent Mays and Ma’lik Richmond had been found guilty of the rape of a 16 year old unconscious girl. Rather than celebrating the fact that justice had been served, CNN then spent the next six minutes lamenting the fact that these boys' lives were ruined. CNN was perpetuating our society's rape culture by sympathizing with rapists rather than the victim. See the video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=MvUdyNko8LQ#!

  • Fix Our Broken Immigration System
Deportations will continue to destroy immigrant communities and families unless Congress and the White House act to create a pathway to citizenship for all. We were promised a comprehensive immigration reform bill by now, but Congressional leaders have yet to produce legislation. Please sign this petition to urge our elected representatives in Washington to put a bill before the American people, and to act fast to fix our country's broken immigration system once and for all.

  • Take action to eliminate Government Corruption by assigning an Independent Prosecutor.
The reason people should be very concerned about this is, Corporations now have the network within both State and Federal Gov't. to influence decisions for both Civil and Criminal lawsuits. In my case, my former employer intentionally discriminated against me by terminating me while on FMLA/ Disability Leave. My case has been fraudulently influenced by my former employer, Hooper Holmes, Inc. - Basking Ridge NJ with clear cooperation (complicity) by the actions of Fed. EEOC, DOL and DOJ; NJ Div. Civil Rights, NJ Attorney General's Office, NJ Superior and Appellate Courts.

  • 300,000 drivers punished for being poor
There are 300,000 drivers in the state of Washington ( pop. 6,724,540) whose drivers license is suspended, mostly in the 3rd degree, because they cannot afford to pay fines and court fees for tickets they received because the legislature has raised fines, thus turning the DOL and law enforcement into a source of increased revenue, instead of being just a licensing and regulatory agency as it was designed to be. If you cannot pay these fees within a short time they are turned over to a collection agency, where more fees and interest is added. If you cannot afford to pay the agency, your license is then suspended in the 3rd degree. If you are caught driving again, more fines, fees and interest are added to your penalty and the ability to recover is put even further out of reach. All of this can result in a criminal record and a negative credit rating while quickly adding up to thousands of dollars, which can affect your employability and access to credit. In the current state of the economy it is time for the state to come up with a workable alternative to this problem by implementing reasonable payment plans and/or community service in order for people to retain their driving privilages, while looking for employment or any of the many other reasons people need their licenses in day to day life. The state needs to implement a system where people have the ability to reasonably pay these penalties while retaining their right to legally drive in their in their day to day activities. This would also enable the state to save tax money by reducing repeated court appearances and possible incarceration costs.
