• Reverse Alaska's Education Cuts
It's time to reverse three years of education cuts that are threatening the quality of our schools. Next year, there will be 200 more staff cuts in Anchorage, following several years of cuts; 36 staff cuts in Fairbanks; close to 100 staff cuts in Juneau; and cuts in the Mat-Su Borough, Kenai Peninsula, Kodiak, the Northwest Arctic Borough, Nome, and other districts. This isn't the way to move education and the dreams and opportunities of our children forward. We are not wedded to the funding amount in House Bill 95. We are wedded to an amount that reverses Alaska's three-year course of school staffing cuts. If you'd like to stay educated on the latest in Juneau, feel free to sign up for our legislative e-newsletter at [email protected].

  • Legalize Recreational Use of Weed
I myself along with millions of others have been prosecuted for using something as simple as WEED. Our jails and prisons are over populated in part to all the people locked up because of this. Let us turn over this Weed prohibition as our parents over turned the Alcohol prohibition.

  • Governor Martinez: Please Sign HB 379
House Bill 379 grants qualifying television productions an additional 5% tax incentive for in-state expenditures and allows for unused funds budgeted for overall film production to roll-over into the following fiscal year. The bill protects state money, creates jobs, supports; local businesses, arts, education, training, tourism, and sends the clear message to the global production industry that New Mexico is open for business.

  • Senator Schumer: Come Out for LGTBQ Immigrants
As you read this, the Gang of 8 (a group of Senators) are working to introduce an immigration reform bill this year. Senator Chuck Schumer (D) from New York-- a member of the Gang of 8--has been a longtime supporter for the LGBTQ community and receives funding from mainstream LGBTQ organizations. However, so far, he has been silent on this issue in his talk on immigration reform. Senator Schumer needs to hear from you to remind him why it is crucial for him to be a champion for the LGTBQ immigrant community the same way we have supported him. The Queer Undocumented Immigrant Project (QUIP), a project of United We Dream, the largest immigrant youth network in the country, made a commitment to make sure that the entire 11 Million are included in this bill and that includes LGTBQ immigrants like me.

  • Petition to Establish The Independent Republic of California
California is the most populous state in the Union and has one of the largest economies in the world. The state is politically different from the rest of the Unites States (the Union), and has an increasingly more heterogeneous population. The State pays more money into the national treasury than is returned and therefore subsidizes states whose political philosophy holds back social and economic progress in our State. California would do better for its citizens as an independent republic

  • Ban Hydraulic Fracking in California.
As oil companies gear up for a hydraulic fracturing boom in California, state regulators have proposed industry-friendly fracking regulations that would do little to protect the state'’s air, water and wildlife from pollution. Since the draft fracking rules clearly fail to protect the public's access to clean drinking water, hydraulic fracturing should be banned in California.

  • Protect the Stundents & Workers of San Francisco Community College
My son Diego is a student at SF Community College. He is enrolled in a Library Science certificate program and only has a few units left to get is AA degree and transfer to a four year institution. My friend Allen is a union member who works at SF City College. he has been a valuable City employee for many years. The management has put the student and workers of San Francisco's Community College in harms way because of their incompetence at managing the funds for the College. It is possible that SF Community College could lose its accreditation and the school could close or if it stays open it is possible that students who are looking to transfer to four year institution will find that they cannot transfer their credits. San Francisco's City College is one of the institutions that is still affordable for workers like myself to send their children to. If it closes down, where will our children go? I ask for you support for the students and the workers of this important institution to continue their education and for the workers to continue to provide the important services for the students. Thank you Governor Brown & Speaker of the Assembly John A. Perez Gloria Sanchez San Bruno, CA

  • MD Anderson Reimburse Recchi's
Time Magazine recently ran an article 'why medical bills are killing us' and included the story of the Recchi's who MD Anderson charged over 83,000 for cancer treatment MD Anderson is supposed to be a non profit but made a 26 percent profit last year and the head of MD Anderson made more than 2 million dollars last year. I think they should reimburse the Recchi's 26% of the 83,000 and apologize to them for not giving them assistance or treating them with compassion at the time they most needed it. I do not know the Recchi's but I was absolutely furious when I read this. this type of rip off by the medical community has got to stop.
