I’ve seen a lot of things in my eight-year career working for MARTA. The one thing that keeps me going, though, is knowing I’m able to provide the best service to people who depend on MARTA to get to work, pick their kids up from school or visit their doctor. But extreme politicians at the state capitol are trying to jeopardize the service, safety and affordability of public transit in Atlanta by pushing a bill to require mandatory privatization of MARTA. If this legislation passes, people could see the quality of services decrease in order to make room for bigger and bigger profits for the company running the system. For more than 40 years, we've kept the “public” in Atlanta's public transportation system. Tell your senator to keep it that way.

In Sept 2012 I moved to Cumberland County to be closer to my grandchildren and to take advantage of better housing. Soon afterwards I found out from Regional Transportation they can not give me rides (paid for by Medicaid) and with money donated by organizations like United Way, to my doctors I have long term 10+ yr. relationships with in York County. These are my Primary Care Physicians, a Surgeon who has still not dismissed me from my last surgery, and my Pain Management caregiver. My PPC has even written a letter asking for an exception, but it was denied by RTP. I have no private transportation and no family to give me a ride. In order to receive maintenance medication RXs I must go to my doctors every 2 to 3 months per the LAW. I have had to take our food money (I have a daughter) to hire total strangers to take me to my appts., and because I have been assaulted in the past I live in fear of what might happen on one of these trips with a stranger.

Article 37 of the Maryland State Constitution requires that you have believe in God in order to be allowed to hold public office. This law is discriminatory and infringes on an individuals right of whether they choose to believe in a God or not. Thus, the law should be removed from the Constitution.

The air and water quality, as well as their abundance, are being threathened by foreign corporations with multi-national funding who can willfully plunder our State Lands. The return for the public is minor compared to the damage to the environment. The archaic laws underwhich these foreign companies operate with impunity were written in the late 19th century for the purpose of attracting people to the West. The intention was to lure prospectors with pick and shovel, not mega-corporations with land-movers.

The 2012 and 2013 National Defense Authorization Act allows indefinite detention of US citizens without charge for trial. This position is the move on repealing this language from the NDAA and maintaining the Constitution in Illinois.

It's TIME to remove the injustice and massive hypocrisy over the legal consequences of marijuana for both, medical and recreational use in the state of Kentucky! With Kentucky's rich history of marijuana and hemp cultivation, our state should be at the FOREFRONT of the movement to END PROHIBITION! We can no longer afford the massive costs associated with the double standard that allows for the far more destructive use of alcohol while marijuana users are jailed and alienated from society, at unaffordable enforcement costs, rather than regulating and taxing it!

My petition is about not turning our clocks forward and then back again.

I am a Tennessee employee who has sat and watched the Tennessee legislature and state Chamber of Commerce for 3 years bully the average working man in Tennessee. In a state that has already "reformed" Workers' Compensation 3 times since 1994 and has seen premium rates decrease that whole time, yet another law is determined to overhaul workers' comp in Tennessee. Most cases where workers are permanently impaired because of job-related injuries, under the proposed new law, will see reductions in payments by 66% or more. The bill is being touted as creating a more efficient system that will put people back to work quicker and have them receive benefits faster, but no one is talking about these drastic reductions to the worker that has a permanent impairment or who may not ever be able to go to work again. There has to be a way that we can make the system more efficient without cutting the benefits to the injured worked and our legislature has people smart enough to figure it out if we only work a little harder. We should not harm these injured workers even further solely because we are in too big of a hurry and too short sighted to see how they will be devastated by HB 194.

We, as a family, have been directly affected by the change in "Residency Status" and my husband having to pay Utah State Income Tax when there are no jobs for him in Utah. 51 weeks is a long time to have to look and Florida was the State that had a job for him. He is close to retirement and we would like to stay here but may not be able to afford to.
