• President Obama -- Stop the Keystone XL Pipeline to Oblivion
The Canadian Tar Sands are the dirtiest of dirty sources of oil -- and will cost a minimimum of $85/barrel to develope-pipe-and refine. The energy used to make fuel from Tar Sand will be almost as useless a biomass, and corn ethanol. We cannot allow greed and politics to pretent this is good for the economy or the environment. Never mind the pure arrogance of the ongoing construction of the pipeline without formal authorization or technology to refine the mess. Mr. President , please do not approve the Keystone Pipeline

  • End Pension Programs for Elected Officials
The IL government is attempting to reduce IL's debt by destroying teachers' pension funds after stealing from it for years. Force them to find methods of solving their debt problems without hurting hard working citizens who have devoted their lives to serving IL citizens. Begin by taking away their pension programs if they have not served for at least twenty years.

  • School taxes are out of control
It is time for the funding of education in Pennsylvania to be done by means other than taxes on real estate. My plans for a worry free retirement in the Poconos of Pennsylvania are at risk.

  • Daylight Savings Time
Let's decide on one or the other... either we stay on daylight savings time, all of the time... OR, we stay on the other 'time' all of the time. So many folks that I know are tired of switching back and forth, and, for NO GOOD REASON!

  • Governor O'Malley: It's time to raise the minimum wage!
Can anyone raise a family on $15,000 per year? $1,250 per month? Of course not. Meanwhile on Wall Street, corporate profits are way up and the stock market reached record highs. But Congress hasn't raised the minimum wage since 2007. President Obama called for a minimum wage hike, and Democrats in Congress want to raise it to $10.10 per hour. But John Boehner and Tea Party Republicans won't let the minimum wage bill see the light of day. Record profits while low wage workers can't support a family. That's just not fair. Here in Maryland, we don't need to wait for John Boehner to give low-wage workers a raise. State legislators in Annapolis are pushing to raise the minimum wage to $10 per hour and then index it to inflation. That way as the cost of living goes up, the minimum wage will keep pace. The bill faces stiff opposition from the usual suspects: Wal-Mart, McDonalds, and right-wing think tanks funded by the likes of Karl Rove. If they had their way there wouldn't even be a minimum wage! Sign the petition below to tell Governor O'Malley, Senate President Mike Miller, and Speaker of the House Mike Bush: Working families can't wait for Congress. It's time to step up and lead the way for working families. President Obama has called for increasing the minimum wage, but for 500,000 low-wage workers in Maryland, we need Governor O'Malley to show that he is willing to stand up to Wal-Mart and McDonalds and raise the minimum wage now.

  • Add Norooz to Maryland school holidays!
Many Maryland residents celebrate Norooz as part of their heritage and background. For those of us who do, it means taking a day off at work or having an "unexcused absence" at school.
