All Americans deserve a quality education. Education is the only service provided to all Americans that helps them with their future and their dreams. In Illinois and other states there are people who want to cut education funding. This is wrong!

I am asking our state representatives and community leaders in Minnesota to allocate more funding for the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act and programs for homeless families. In Minnesota, the challenge of homelessness for families has grown more striking in recent years. In 2012, The Wilder Research Center found that homeless families and children made up the largest segment of homeless people in Minnesota. Homeless children, in particular, have disproportionate negative academics experiences, including high rates of transferring schools, absenteeism, and grade repetition, among other barriers. The McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act provides federal funds for states to build awareness of the needs of these children and families who face homelessness. The McKinney-Vento Act also guarantees immediate enrollment to a school of choice and stability for homeless students and families. Yet the reality is not all districts implement this law nor have an active homeless liaison. Also, many districts struggle to pay for the transportation of their students from temporary residences to schools miles away. It is, thus, imperative that every school district is aware and well-educated about this law or the stigma attached with homelessness will continue. Therefore, I ask that we support more funding for the McKinney-Vento Act, more trained liaisons, and more community partnerships to eliminate this stigma for students and their families.

The practice of changing from standard time to daylight savings time has become outdated. The current system extends daylight savings time from the second Sunday of March until the first Sunday of November, meaning standard time is used for approximately only 4 months each year. A recent poll showed 73% of people were in favor of extending daylight savings time year round (http://blog.al.com/wire/2013/03/florida_considers_extending_da.html). It is time to adopt daylight savings time permanently.

Any politician caught making a false public statement as fact will be fined $100,000. Politicians should be fined for publicly presenting fabricated information as fact, and, as adults, are expected to preface such statements they haven't verified with a disclaimer.

New Yorkers pay the highest cost per student for education in the Country and each year education continues to gets more expensive. The key driver of this out of control spending is the Triborough Amendment. It allows employee contracts to remain in effect until a new contract is negotiated giving unions little incentive to negotiate. School Districts should be allowed to opt out of the Triborough Amendment.

We can change the political landscape and help tho country with the true democracy.

All budget moneys must be addresed for reduction. If the American people must cut back at home, so should our aid recepicants.

Unions are and have been the building block of the middle class, now Governor brownback and the GOP are wanting to tear this down!

Twice a year, we go through resetting all the clocks and re-adjusting our biology. This is a throw back to another time and is grossly inefficient and a waste of effort and money. The extra light in the evening seems to be popular, so just to pick something, let's just stay on DST.

HB125 went from simplifying the paperwork created by HB87 in 2011, to a whole new bill. The current version of HB125 (LC 29 5571S) challenges international passports as valid IDs, blocks DACA recipients from obtaining Driver Licenses, takes Homestead Exemptions away from homeowners, and puts an unnecessary burden in contractors, subcontractors, subsubcontractors and business of Georgia by increasing the mandatory application of E-Verify and IMAGE programs.
