Illinois' unfunded pension liability is massive. Tell Gov and house to pay back!Illinois' pension-fund shortfall is by far the largest in the nation. Simply put, Illinois' unfunded pension liability is massive. Democratic Gov. Pat Quinn says the $96 billion of liability has been accumulating for decades, with the state's pension problems dating back at least 70 years. "There have been 12 governors, 13 speakers of the House and 13 presidents of the Senate that have come and gone, and the issue has kind of confounded our predecessors," he says. Over those many years, Illinois' teachers, state troopers, university professors and other state employees have been paying their share, contributing about 8 to 12 percent out of every paycheck to their pension funds. But the state hasn't. Illinois' governors and lawmakers have frequently shortchanged the pension systems. They've even skipped some pension payments altogether so they could more freely spend on things more popular with the voters, such as schools, highways, health care and prisons. The result, says Quinn, is a huge pension shortfall that is growing bigger by the day."Our liability every day goes up by $17 million, so we've got to deal with this," he says.2 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Lynn Wilson

Petition on trapping and bear baiting regulationsThe lack of adequate response from BOG-FAG concerning trapping and bear baiting issues on residential and multiple use public lands is a safety issue for all users. There is possibly a legal issue as well since trapping limits the safe use of public lands to a single use by minority users.6,066 of 7,000 SignaturesCreated by Ken Green

Nevada's Right To Know Genetically Engineered Food ActConsumers have the right to know whether the foods they purchase were produced with genetic engineering. Don't Privatize Pennsylvania Wine and Spirits ShopsPennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett is once again selling out our children and eliminating much-needed funding for our schools, and risking 5,000 good-paying jobs here in Pennsylvania. He's already cut billions from education, and now, if he privatizes the Pennsylvania Wine and Spirits Shops, the $500 million generated annually would disappear. These funds help pay for good quality schools and other necessary programs across the Commonwealth. Tell him not to sell out our children and to NOT dismantle the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board and save 5,000 jobs.1,618 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by Kim McMurray

Capping the Payday Lending Rate in KentuckyPresently, Payday Lenders are permitted to charge up to 400% interest and fees for short term (payday) loans. The Federal government caps payday lending rates at 36% near military bases and lenders continue to profit from the business. In the Kentucky House of Representatives, the Chair of the Banking and Insurance committee, Jeff Greer, Brandenburg, refuses to bring the issue up for vote in committee. Please lend your support to advancing common sense legislation affecting those in the margins of our society.347 of 400 SignaturesCreated by Bernie Tichenor

INCREASED WAGES FOR CERTIFIED NURSING ASSISTANTSIn the state of TN, Certified Nursing Assistants are very underpaid! We have the hardest job in the nursing field. We are more hands on than any LPN or RN. We deal with the mess. When the patient is nonresponsive 9 times out of 10 we are the ones who find them. Patient to CNA ratio is 1 to 15 patients or more. That is why it is poor patient care in nursing home facilities3 of 100 SignaturesCreated by cheronda cole

Limit Medical Benefits of Elected Officials to those available to ordinary CitizensThis petition is to limit the government provided medical benefits to the approximately the same level as the citizens the elected officials govern. I am sick of paying thousands of dollars per month as an individual for me and my family while elected officials who are supposed to be representing me, get and give compensation to large corporations that turn around and charge me MORE money for medical coverage, that the corporations more often not simply deny anyway.2 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Steven LEach
