• ban hydrofracking in NY
I dont wish to be poisoned by a practice that everyone knows is unsafe. Hydrofracking will destroy our enviroment, ruin our rural infrastructure and lay waste on the poorest of people all of who will b affected. Furthermore, it will not create the jobs promised like the big fatcat gasbags talk about. A few diners and flophouses may benefit, but thats all. The majority of the jobs go to roughnecks from Texas and Oklahoma, two states that they've already poisoned

  • FIRE TORSTEN WERNER, Mendocino County Animal Control Officer
This person, Animal Control Officer, Torsten Werner Took the National Reptile Foundations Tortoises, 3 large all male Sulcata tortoises to the animal care part of AC & C. They were not properly fed, or taken care of and were left in a pen outside that was contaminated with goat poo. fed broccoli ! ( that is toxic to tortoises!) and other veggies that are not on their diet. They only needed orchard hey. So all of them developed the runns. We got our tortoises back, however They closed down the National Reptile Foundation in conjunction with building and planning, BECAUSE i had a 501c3 non profit org..... I was required to have a commercial kennel license, AND they could not give me a commercial kennel license BECAUSE I live in the COASTAL ZONE. Other targets and other people have complained about him taking pit bulls, and having them euthanized, and terrorizing little children with a poor choice of words, and more recently the confiscation of a herd of piggs. taken for no reason, but Animal care wants $1,000.00 from the owner before returning them, or they will be destroyed. I have left the other peoples names out of this petition, but they will gladly tell you all about it if you ask me how to get in touch with them. you can send me an email to [email protected] Officer Torsten Werner manhandles animals to the point of abuse, and seemingly enjoys harassing the owners. After an encounter with this Mendocino County Animal Control Officer, you're left shaking, scared, angry, and abused. He is known for jumping to conclusions, and presents him self as an expert in handling animals, while making you feel like a prisioner who knows nothing, or worse; the scum of the earth. An encounter with this Mendocino County Animal control Officer will undoubtedly change your life forever. You will never see Animal Control the same way ever again. Please sign this petition to have Torsten Werner fired from the position of Animal Control Officer, with the Mendocino County Department of Animal Control. There seems to be a trend of officer Werner to confiscate animals, for no reason. Then when the animals are vet checked, there is nothing wrong with them, but cost the owner several hundreds or thousands to get out of the "Animal care part of Animal care & control" Torsten Werner needs to be fired, He is creating hate and discontent, to the animal owning residents of Mendocino county. He uses a bad chioce of words in delicate situations,..... taking animals with out merrit, and complicating the lives of the animals, and their owners. the funny thing is when officer Torsten Werner is WITH another officer, he has better manners, and doesn't take as many animals in. When Torsten Werner is alone, he has a different attitude towards the people and their animals. Just so you know...... IF any officer is addressing you alone, YOU CAN request for another officer to be present. It is the LAW. Thank you.

  • Kill House Bill 87
The Florida Legislature is at it again, thanks to the concerted efforts of Representatives Kathleen Passidomo (District 106, Collier County) and George Moraitis, Jr. (District 93, Broward County). Proposed House Bill 87 must not be allowed to pass into law in any form. The Bill is unconstitutional because it takes away from constituents and citizens of this state, and anyone who owns real property in Florida, their individual property and due process rights, is retroactive and violates Article 1, Sections 9 and 10 of Florida’s Constitution, which do not permit the passage of any law or any Judicial and/or Executive Branch process which deprives any person of life, liberty or property without due process of law and prohibits the passing of any law that impairs the obligations of contracts.

  • Smith's Food and Drug Should Ban Guns in their Stores.
I do not feel safe shopping around customers with guns strapped to their side. I feel this type of person is just looking for trouble. Also even if the person were to draw the weapon in an emergency, without proper training (which is not required in Nevada) innocent people may well be injured. Statistics show that the owner of a handgun (or their family) is more likely to be injured than a criminal by that gun.

  • Water over Oil
We are all affected by the drought and we all pay for it in so many ways. We cannot drink oil or oil our crops. One of the solutions is so simple and can be implemented quickly and easily in all new construction without too much, if any, increase in the cost of the building/home.

  • Second Chance Act
My issue concerns college students who currently have a felony. I believe that if a person has done their time, and has completed probation with no further charges, that a person's felony charge should automatically be erased if they have completed a Bachelors Degree. Of course some charges will not be considered, depending on the level of the offence, but people like me who has done everything in society to reinvent themselves deserve a second chance in the workforce. I have been offered good jobs, but with my felony, I was not able to be employed. With enough signatures and lots of people who suffer from these old mistakes, we should have the right to prove ourselves in society as a changed person.

  • Fund Mental Health in Texas!
Every day we are being reminded about the dire state of mental health in our country. Mental health hospitals, services in schools, aftercare facilities, and rehabs have all had funding cut and this trend must stop. As a counselor in Texas, every day I work with clients that need more care than is currently available for them. Why spend more money? The key here is actually we would save more money in the long run. People who are in crisis often get sent to hospitals and then mental health hospitals. The hospitals try to help get these people in and out as quickly as possible because funding and the number of beds are inadequate. Many times these people are then released back to the community with little or no support and they go into crisis again and potentially take their own life and possibly others as well. This means increased costs by another trip in an ambulance, police support, ICU, and another stay at a mental health hospital. How do we stop this? Other states and countries have helped curb this cycle by thoroughly revamping their mental health systems. One vital piece that would help Texas is aftercare facilities for those who recently are released from the hospitals. This would give them a place to recover, adjust to medications, and be in a place where they can be monitored and supported as a medical and therapy team works to correct what has been going wrong. More funding would also aid to help those agencies that help to support those in need before they go into crisis. The State of California has found that for every $1 they spent on rehabilitation facilities, they saved $7 in incarceration costs. So, sign here to help save Texas money, to help save the lives of Texans in need, and to help mental health be a top priority!

  • Change the gun laws Congress
The gun laws must be changed to protect us from those who own guns. We have the right to LIFE, that is primary. We need common sense that allows people to protect their homes if they wish, hunt if they wish, but no guns in public places.

  • A Closer look at the MTA
I think the governor and the Mayor need to take a closer look at the MTA operations. Instead of Governor Coumo going after LIPA for one incident his efforts will be better spent looking at the MTA. After 100 years of service it seems the MTA is still catching up instead of being a leader in the transportation industry. Constant delays, excessive construction projects going on at the same time, and some of these projects will not result in a better system but possibly another constraint on the already strained and ineffective system that is the MTA. 2/14/13 Update: On the news today (WNYC) there was more news on how ineffective and managed in the most wasteful way. the news program mention how the MTA had about 90 Million sitting in bank accounts with no purpose and not being used. It went one to imply that maybe the MTA didn't even know this money was there and available for use because those in charge of accountability are not doing their job! We all need to speak up and tell the Governor and Mayor to look at this organization more closely.
