Senior Citizens are having a much harder time supplementing their social security with paying employment, yet it's first on the list to be cut for the good of the budget, as well as medicare. Yet congress has no such concerns.

The Transgender Community is over-looked and often assumed to be a part of the LGBTQI community- yet sexual orientation and gender expression are seperate issues. Gender expression and gender identity are not sexual concerns but personal issues that we all have had to deal with. We have all stepped out of our gender norm and expressed the opposite expression at times- be it wth a short haired girl or a man wearing a pink shirt. The transgender community is a large community that has been over-looked and misunderstood for too long. Mr President- you say you want equality for our gay brothers and lesbian sisters, then please be specific and inclusive of the T in that community by validating us as human with your words in public! Please make a statement about transgender rights in public!

As you know, there are many elderly and poor citizens who are unable to afford health care. Our president has provided measures for the states to accommodate those less fortunate than you and I. Please, Govenor Bentley and legislature, reconsider your decision not support the President's effort to provide health care for everyone in the State of Alabama.

Immigrant youth should not be hindered from working towards a more promising future solely because they were brought to the United States by their parents at a young age without legal status. We believe the Iowa DREAM Act (SF80) would be a good building block for needed immigration reform and help add talented, motivated, and multi-lingual people to our workforce. They are important to our ability to counteract the serious demographic and workforce challenges we face in Iowa. The Dream Act represents a practical, fair, and compassionate solution for young persons who simply want to reach their potential and contribute to the well-being of our state. Please join us in telling Iowa lawmakers to pass the Iowa DREAM. act.

This year, we have the best chance we've had in a long time to create change in an immigration system that has left 11 million people living in the shadow of deportation. But in past years, previous Comprehensive Immigration Reform (CIR) bills introduced in Congress haven't come close to giving all undocumented people a chance at citizenship. For example, a 2006 CIR bill that failed would have given only 7 million the opportunity to "fix" their status if it had passed. Tell your Congressperson that you won't settle and leave anyone behind. Sign this petition calling for a bill that would provide a pathway to citizenship for 11 million undocumented people.

The Visa Company is trying to find loop holes in yet again trying to make an extra buck. 10 states said no, and who want to cross or wait to shop until we visit one of these states? I know for a fact that each store who does this will lose my business all around. This is just another way to make a buck, the Visa was protected by bank once and they were losing a lot of money I guess from not allowing money to be spent when folks didn't have any money. Charging all the over draft fees, when the banks knew they consumer didn't have the funds. Since check books are not used much anymore, folks just guess sometimes about their balance.

Our school doesn't have a track team, so with this Petition maybe we can get our Junior High/High School students to be more active. Some students are not eligable to play sports such as Basketball, Volleyball, or Football. With having a track team some students might actually be excited to be in a sport! Boys and Girls from 7th to 8th and 9th to 12th grade could join. The signatures you see are the students and some teachers that would be proud to have a track team!

Governor O'Malley and the Maryland legislature are proposing new laws which will do NOTHING to effectively reduce violent crime, protect our schools, or penalize the real criminals. We need to do a better job of enforcing the CURRENT gun laws and implement measures that are shown to actually reduce violence, not "feel-good" gun bans that only punish law abiding citizens.

Mayor Bob Foster has gone through extreme lengths to guarantee that California medical marijuana patients in Long Beach can not access their medicine safely. He has acted against the interest of the people who have elected him by forcing long beach patients, many of them cancer patients, to get their medicine through unsafe means. Not only should Long Beach tax payers be upset, but also the community as a whole because local governments should be respecting state laws, not trumping them.

I have LOST one home already to school taxes being raised by SEVENTY FIVE PERCENT IN ONE YEAR. Now it may happen again. I don't have a pension plan like a state retiree --- why shout I pay state tax on my pension plan. You want more money pull back some of your state benefits.

Our goal is to save the U.S. Postal Service from drastic cuts in service. We want the postal service to cease closing mail processing plants. We want the postal service to continue 6 day delivery and we want the postal service to stop closing post offices and cutting retail operating hours. Our goal is to see the dramatic pre payments into retirement accounts to stop and be returned to the postal service. We are proud of our postal network in New York and want to keep it the way it is.
