Give Control of the NYS School System Back to the Parents and TaxpayersEvery parent that has or had a child in the NYS school system can identify with this issue. The current system is a closed system with no outside or parental oversight. There is no accountability except in house and that is like having the fox guard the hen house. Bullying, favoritism, partiality, crappy food, deaf administrators busy hanging on their own little power seats are rampant.11 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Aruna Bakhru M.D.,F.A.C.P.

Stop Attacks on the Unemployed in N.C.Extreme legislators in Raleigh are pushing a bill that would make the most draconian cuts to unemployment insurance in the country. The bill would reduce the number of weeks workers are eligible for unemployment insurance, drastically cut the maximum amount of weekly benefits unemployed workers can receive and require workers to wait longer to receive unemployment insurance. With the unemployment rate in North Carolina still greater than 9%, the last thing we need to be doing is asking workers who have lost their jobs through no fault of their own to take another hit. This bill has already advanced in the House. Tell North Carolina senators and Gov. McCrory to oppose this extreme, anti-worker measure.802 of 1,000 SignaturesCreated by Stacey Hinson

Stop the Arizona GOP from brainwashing our childrenAZ State Attorny Tom Horne thinks school kids K-12 should be taught a "balanced approach" to climate change. This is just another attempt to "dumb down" our children and waste tax dollars on new text books!5 of 100 SignaturesCreated by David Breed

Ban all cell phone use in moving vehicles except emergency personnelI have had friends and business associates injured in car accidents by disracted drivers. I have survived over a dozen near misses as cell phone users in cars only have one hand free while turning or navigating. Drivers TEXT while stopped at stop lights and fail to move forward timely on green.7 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Dan Bostdorf

Hawaii Legislature: Implement Statewide Clean ElectionsDuring the 1978 Constitutional Convention, delegates fought hard to create the partial public funding program that we now have. Delegate Naomi Campbell said during that Convention: " . . . if we think these tremendous sums being spent [on elections], these tremendous sums being contributed, are not sums for which we are going to ultimately pay because of poor government . . . and because of undue influence . . . we are fooling ourselves." We have let the partial public funding program decay over the past 30 years, and along with it our best chance at a truly functioning lawmaking arena. We need to break the cycle, and have the courage to save this program that delegates fought for in 1978.154 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Eric Ming

Medical cost disclosureI underwent extensive surgery to repair 3 hernias and torn muscles. The surgery required two surgeons. Before the surgery, I called Blue Cross to find out how much I would have to pay myself and the insurance company refused to tell me, except to say it would cover 80 percent of the "allowable amount." It would not tell me the "allowable amount." In the end, Blue Cross paid $1,076 of a $10,000 bill. I had the diagnostic and procedure codes when I called Blue Cross, they should have been required to tell me how much of the cost would fall to me. I may have waited another year for the surgery.2 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Rachel Gottlieb
