• Put "Equality" in the American Pledge of Allegiance
What are we afraid of? Purportedly the 3 founding principles of our Democratic Republic are "Liberty, Equality and Justice", Right? So, why isn't the word "Equality" included into the last line of the Pledge of Allegiance?

  • IU Health University Hospital: Re-Hire Illegally Fired Workers
IUHUH fired eight employees after they refused mandatory flu shots. The hospital prioritized a controversary immunization to prevent the spread of influenza over an employee's right to refuse certain medical procedures. These employees had the right to refuse their flu shots under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which prohibits religious discrimination of employees.

  • High-Capacity Firearms Ban
Our society has become overly dangerous due to the wide-spread availability of high-capacity firearms with easily insert-able magazines. I just don't feel safe going to the shopping mall, the movie theater, sporting events, or frankly any place where anyone can carry these weapons. All magazine-loaded firearms should be banned from our society.

  • Debt Ceiling Refusal = Treason
Refusing to raise the debt ceiling is not a tool it is treason. No government money should go to states whose congress people refuse to raise the debt ceiling or who even use the debt ceiling as a weapon to get their way. Their states should help pay the unnecessary extra interest rate costs they would cause.

  • Fine legislators for unconstitutional and repetitious bills!
Please sign this petition: We the informed people of the United States are fed up with mostly the Republican legislators that are playing games with our tax money and taking time away from meaningful legislation that serves all the people. It is time to fine them and hold them accountable.

  • Save our Children from Drug ABuse
Several children of family members and friends have been afflicted with drug abuse. They started as early as high school and by the time parents found out they were over 18. Current laws do not allow parents to force their children into rehab or to force them to get any kind of help. Parents are completely helpless and no authority or law exists to address this problem. Authorities get involved only if the individual commits a crime. As everyone knows, once a person uses drugs, they lose all sensibility and the ability to think logically. So, it is literally impossible for them to get to a point where they want to or are willing to get help. So, this becomes a completely helpless situation. The afflicted individual will not seek help and the parents have no legal means to force their child to get help. Parents are often left standing by helplessly to see their children distroy their life or die.

  • Republican Congressmen Need to Apologize
As a current New York resident and former resident of Long Beach and Staten Island -- areas hard hit by Hurricane Sandy -- I believe that Republican members of the House of Representatives need to apologize today for putting their ideology and re-election ambitions ahead of their concern for the Americans who have recently suffered and continue to suffer from the recent storm. The refusal to vote on House Speaker Boehner's Plan B and to vote for $60 Billion for states affected by Hurricane Sandy is clear evidence where their priorities lay.

  • Promote Student Incentive
My son is arguably smarter than most of his teachers. Yet they won't move him ahead in grade level. In essence, they're sucking his incentive to improve his knowledge. I have consistently been promised they will challenge him and have failed...............

  • Gretchen Smith-Klainer: Prevent escalation of behavioral health issues by having behavioral healt...
My son committed suicide on October 24, 2012. He was 24 years old. There was no funding available for him to see Northwestern Community Services, the only behavioral health organization that helps patients on a need basis to pay in our community We need mental health included in all insurance policies. My husband works for a company that denies any mental health coverage. We can not deny people with mental health issues when statistics state that one out of four Americans have mental health issues and this staggering statistic does not include those that deny any mental health issues and are self-medicating with drugs (prescription or illegal) and alcohol.

  • Financial Transaction Tax - Have Wall Street Pay for its Mess
Stock market transactions should be taxed. It can be a progressive tax like the income tax e.g. small transactions get a 1% tax while large transactions dealing in millions of dollars have a 5% tax.
