• Out with the Bad, In with the ??
The petition is designed to raise awareness that politicians can't have it both ways. Most of the senior members in both legislative branches have been in Congress for multiple terms - and are therefore (a large) part of the serious problems our country is facing. Ironically they offer themselves as solving the very problems they are both (Democrats and Republicans) responsible for creating.

  • Faculty for Affordable Tuition (FFAT): Curbing the escalating rise of college tuition
The average student loan is $30,000. College tuition at both public and private universities has been escalating way beyond inflation. High tuition is one of the main causes for the widening gap between rich and poor. Faculty will be better off with affordable tuition rather than pricing it out of the reach of the middle class. The tuition income should be directed mostly at education rather than adminitration. The financial stability of many colleges and universities is threatened by out of reach tuition and the alternative of free online courses. Ensuring affordable tuition is both the financial and moral answer.

  • Grants for Independent Peer-Reviewed Cybernated Renewable Resource Projects
In a world that has increasingly limited resources, corporations cannot be counted on to solve these problems. Scarcity and problems that need patchwork, while financially lucrative, cause more social, environmental, and economic problems in the long run. In order for problems to be solved (of which all problems are technical in nature, and by definition are likely to have an effective solution) the institutions that benefit financially from these problems or would be forced out of business because of the solving of the problems shall not be allowed to exercise any protest once a successful, positive peer review has been established.

  • The right to labeling of GMO food
I just recently read The World According to Monsanto. I realized that it would be extremely helpful if foods with GMO ingredients were labeled as such.

  • IOWA Legislators: Stop sexist employers from firing their innocent employees!
We, the people of Iowa, are outraged by a recent ruling by the state Supreme Court that gives employers permission to fire employees that they find to be too sexually attractive, even if the employee has done no wrong. This needs to be stopped.

  • Mr. President: If Necessary Utilize the 14th Amendment to avoid our Social Safety Net from being ...
The Republican Party in Congress is threatening to hold the American People Hostage with the threat of dismantling our Social Safety Net or face a Default on the Federal Debt Ceiling by their refusal to vote to raise the ceiling. This would not only wreck our economy - it would have dangerous financial chaos around the World on a planet already in far too much turmoil. And set up a system of government by hostage taking.

  • Save American Democracy! Fight for a Democracy Reconstruction Act!
We Americans have always thought of ourselves as the greatest democracy in the world. But, sadly, our democracy is not always very democratic: too often political gamesmanship thwarts the will of the people. For the sake of our children and to set an example for the rest of the world, we must do better. We could do so with a few key reforms: universal voter registration; the end of the filibuster rule; non-partisan redistricting; publicly financed elections; representation for the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and U.S. territories.

  • Take Action on Age Discrimination in the US
Everyone knows age discrimination is rampant in the workplace across the US. We are even told to take experience and education off of our resumes in order to not give away our age. The onus is on the victim to be labeled as a complainer or a whistle blower.
