The President and Congress are under heavy pressure to weaken programs that protect ordinary Americans from sickness, hardship, and insecurity. Isn't this why our ancestors came to America to get away from this. Isn't this why many come to America today to live getting away from this very thing. If the VP of the NRA strongly feels this way send him to Afgahnastan, Iraq or South Africa. We need to stand strong against such mindless, reckless people like LaPierre and the NRA needs to impeach him!

There have been way too many incidences of gun violence in the US in recent years. Emotionally distraught people should not have access to guns of any kind, ever. The 2nd Amendment needs to be reevaluated in the light of recent events, and a more socially-responsible interpretation of it's words and ideas must replace the 'every man for himself' philosophy that now prevails.

Our house of Representatives is scheduled to work only about 120 days this upcoming year, up from the 107 days they were in session this year. If you're only working part-time, you should be paid as a part-time worker. Cut their pay by two-thirds and do away with their benefits. We, the U.S. taxpayer, are not getting our moneys' worth. Even when they are there, they don't do the people's work.
