Social Security benefitsStop soc sec benefits frm being cut, retired/disabled can not afford to live off of so little. You may have heard that yesterday President Obama made an offer to Republican John Boehner to cut Social Security benefits and leave in place some of the Bush tax cuts for the top 2%. The cuts in Social Security are opposed by an overwhelming majority of SignOn.org members and would amount to "a cut of more than 5 percent and more as the years go by." For many retirees this would mean critical cuts to benefits that cover medicine, food, and other daily necessities.1,2 The good news is that many senators, including Senate Leader Harry Reid, have promised to oppose Social Security cuts in any deficit reduction package. If they hear from enough of their constituents, we can still get the Senate to reject this proposal and protect Social Security.1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Pat Crawford

Bill and act Simplification and transperencyIn response to the way in which a powerful bill like the "Affordable Care Act" was watered down in committee to reflect the interests of the medical insurance and pharmaceutical interests, it would be best to limit the size of bills and acts. The Affordable Care Act contains 234,812 words, the constitution 7,000 words. The constitution has been the contract between our people and its government for over 200 years.1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Sam Oberholtzer

john boehnerCarolineMcCarthy of New York has a bill ready to present to the House of Reps about limiting the sale of magazines/clips to l0 rounds. We need John Boehner to bring the bill to the floor this week for the sake of the 27 victims of Newtown. The American People need to see where their Representatives stand on this issue.1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by laura mcconnell

Tell Obama To Take The Social Security Cuts Off The TableDid you know that Obama has offered a fiscal cliff deal to the GOP which includes cuts to Social Security benefits? It doesn't sit right with me to allow him to abandon his campaign promises and to allow our lawmakers to respond to the fiscal cliff by legislating more deprivals for the retired and the elderly, many of whom live in severe poverty, rather than raising taxes on the prosperous and the wealthy. I think we're all better than that. Please join me if you agree and add your signature to this petition to let the President, Congress and the Senate know that you will not stand for this deal, especially since the White House itself has said that Social Security is not a factor in the deficit.888 of 1,000 SignaturesCreated by Nan Hill

End Real Entitlements-cut Congress'Ending all the entitlements our Congress provides to itself would be a very meaningful way to increase our country's revenue, save us taxpayers a bundle, and make sure our elected folks serve our needs not their own.6 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Carol Bylsma
